WHY MOBILE ALABAMA FOR AN AFA CONVENTION???????????????
Why not Mobile? Mobile is a fantastic place to hold a Farriers convention in late February and early March! Get out of that cold Northern weather and come south to enjoy some warmer weather and hopefully some sunshine! Top that off with great seafood, fishing and golf! Bring the kids and tour the Gulf Coast and the historic Mobile area.
One of the most unique facets of Mobile Bay and Alabama’s Gulf Coast is the depth and color of its history, more than 300 years in the making. This facet characterizes everything they do, from their culture to their architecture and most certainly their traditions.
Tour the USS Alabama Battleship that is just minutes away from the host hotels and the convention center!
Visit the Oakleigh historic complex, one of the oldest and most visited historic homes in Mobile. Built in the early 1800’s, the Greek revival-style mansion was built by a cotton farmer from Virginia and later inhabited by three generations of one of Mobile’s leading society families.
Exploration, colonization, revolution, civil war, industrialization, the rise and fall of traditions, buildings and lives – clearly the South has some tales to tell! With all of the history that has passed over the city limits of Mobile and throughout its life-span of more than 300 years!
Come visit with old friends, make new ones and enjoy this great educational event along with the fantastic Mobile area at the 41st Annual American Farrier’s Association Convention!
We’ll see you there!

AMERICAN FARRIER’S ASSOCIATION
Established in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1971, the AFA began with a small organization of farriers who wished to help organize the farrier community and provide direction for the future. Since those humble beginnings, the AFA has grown into an association of international scope, providing direction and growth for the farrier community.
Today, the AFA represents farrier interests throughout the equine world. In addition to its primary concerns of promoting equine welfare and providing continuing education for working farriers and the equine community, the AFA stays abreast of the equine community and acts as an advocate for farriers in relations with veterinarians, breed and sport associations, and state and federal government agencies.
