Consul General Grace Shelton hosted a holiday reception at the Residence on December 7, 2011, for 150 friends, colleagues, and key contacts.
College Fair 2012
On December 1, 2011, U.S. Consulate staff manned a booth at the International College and University Fair, providing prospective Bermudian students with the information necessary to attend colleges and universities in the United States.

Effective August 15, 2011, all posts must implement new filing procedures for Forms I-130, Petitions for Alien Relative. New U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations which become effective August 15, 2011, significantly change the procedures for petitioners overseas to file Forms I-130. Members of some Organized Crime Gangs Deemed INADMISSABLE to U.S.
Because of serious ongoing criminal activity of some permanent, organized, international gangs, along with growing concerns about gang-related crime in the United States, the Departments of State and Homeland Security have agreed that every application for entry to the United States by members of those gangs will be denied.

Global Road Safety 2011
The United States was a proud co-sponsor with Russia and more than 90 other nations of the UN General Assembly of Resolution 64/255 on March 3 of this year, calling for a Decade of Action on Global Road Safety. Today, road crashes claim 1.3 million lives each year, the equivalent of one death every 30 seconds. Increasingly the distracted driving epidemic is a global problem, as is drunk driving, driving at unsafe speeds, and the failure to use seatbelts, child restraints and helmets. By 2030 the World Health Organization projects that traffic crashes will climb from the ninth to the fifth leading cause of death worldwide, if the global community fails to act. website »

Overseas Voting Goes Electronic!
Recently, improvements were made in the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment (MOVE) Act. It gives all U.S. citizens who are overseas the ability to request and receive voter registration applications, absentee ballot request forms, and absentee ballots electronically if the voter so chooses. see Voter Registration »
