Punk rock is the anti-establishment music movement of the period 1976–1980, exemplified by the Sex Pistols, The Damned, The Clash and The Ramones, and to subsequent music scenes that share key characteristics with these first-generation "punks." The term is sometimes also applied to the fashions or the irreverent "do-it-yourself" attitude associated with this musical movement. The term "Punk rock" was originally used to describe the primitive guitar-based rock and roll of untutored U.S. bands of the mid-1960s. (more...)

Cirrus cloud

Cirrus clouds are composed of ice crystals and shaped like hairlike filaments. They are formed at an altitudes above 5000 metres (16,500 feet). The streaks are made of snowflakes that are falling from the cloud and being caught by the high level winds. The streaks point in the direction of the wind and may appear straight giving the clouds the appearance of a comma (cirrus uncinus), or may by seem tangled, an indication of high level turbulence.

Featured list: 1888-1889 New Zealand Native football team matches

The New Zealand Natives' football team before playing Queensland in July 1889

The 1888–1889 New Zealand Native football team were the first oversea's touring rugby football team from the Southern Hemisphere. The team toured the British Isles, Australia, and New Zealand in 1888 and 1889. Although the team mainly played rugby union games it also played several Victorian Rules, and Association football matches. The team won 78 of their 107 rugby matches and three of their Victorian Rules matches. Their tour of the British Isles was the first by a New Zealand rugby team – the next was not until the Original All Blacks tour of 1905.[1] The squad of 26 was privately organised and was composed mainly of players of Maori ancestry, although several Pakeha were included in the squad.
