Featured content represents the best that Wikipedia has to offer. These are the articles, pictures, and other contributions that showcase the polished result of the collaborative efforts that drive Wikipedia. All featured content undergoes a thorough review process to ensure that it meets the highest standards and can serve as an example of our end goals. A small bronze star (The featured content star) in the top right corner of a page indicates that the content is featured. The Canadian federal election of 1993 was held on October 25, 1993. Fourteen parties competed for the 295 seats in the Canadian House of Commons at that time. It was one of the most eventful elections in Canadian history, with more than half of the electorate switching parties from the 1988 election. The election was called by new Progressive Conservative Party leader Kim Campbell, near the end of her party's five-year mandate. Despite an unpopular legacy from the Brian Mulroney years, Conservative support had recovered in the lead-up to the election, and was near the rival Liberals when the writs were dropped. However, this momentum did not last, and the Conservatives suffered the worst defeat in their history. The PCs lost more than half their vote from 1988 and were reduced to only two seats. The Liberals, led by Jean Chrétien, won a strong majority in the House and formed the next government of Canada. (continued...)

Delicate Arch, Arches National Park, Utah, USA

Delicate Arch is a freestanding natural arch and the signature landmark of Arches National Park near Moab, Utah, USA. Surprisingly, the arch played no part in the original designation of the area as a U.S. National Monument in 1929, and was not included within the original monument boundary. It was added when the monument was enlarged in 1938.

Featured list: List of Canadian provinces and territories by population

This is a list of Canadian provinces and territories by population, based on Statistics Canada estimates as of July 1, 2010.[1]

Canada has ten provinces and three territories. The three territories of Nunavut, Yukon, and Northwest Territories account for over a third of Canada's area but have very few people, negatively skewing the national population density value. Canada's population is concentrated in the areas close to the U.S. border. As a result, most Canadians live in areas with densities higher than the national average of 3.731 persons per square kilometre.Percentage of total national population is given to the nearest tenth of a percent. Land area statistics exclude freshwater area and are current as of July 1, 2010. Population density is given to two decimal places in persons per square kilometre (except for the territories, whose population density is given to three decimal places).
