- Fill in the application form and submit it along with the entrance fee to the office in the main building of the Kodokan. A member's card will be issued to those accepted. The application form is acceptable by mail. Please enclose return postage fee to receive a membership card.
- Members can join the training held in the Dojo under a designated trainer at the appointed time, with the understanding that they pay the daily fee or the monthly fee.
- Members are allowed to participate in the Red and White tournament held in June and October, and the Tsukinami-shiai (Monthly Tournament). It is required to sign-up with application fee before each tournaments.
- Grade is decided by the results of the Tsukinami-shiai (Monthly Tournament) and the Kohaku-jiai (Red and White Tournament). The Dan-holders wear Black Belt.

- If you do not practice Judo at the Kodokan normally but would like to apply for tournaments, contact the International Department.
- For those who are late for a tournament are not allowed to participate.
Also, if you would be absent from a tournament without notice in advance, you will not be able to participate in the following tournament. - If you usually practice at the Kodokan or a Judo club in Japan and would like to receive the application form by mail, write to Dojo Instruction Department with return postage fee.

- Men's Dan promotion examination depends on the points acquired at Kohaku and Tsukinami shiai.
- Women's Dan promotion examination is held 3 times a year.
- Fill out the application form and submit it with exam fee noted below to the office of the main building (Dojo Instruction Department) by 7 days in advance of the date of examination.
