Wichita's KFTI Changes Format, Call Letters
|
May 27, 2010
The format of Journal Broadcast Group radio station KFTI-AM changed from Classic Country to True Oldies 1070 AM at 12:30 p.m. today.
Under new call letters KLIO-AM, True Oldies 1070 AM remains part of the six-station radio cluster in Wichita owned by Journal Broadcast Group.
The change was made based on the large number of oldies music fans in the Wichita area. “There is a gap in the Wichita market that needs to be filled. True Oldies 1070 AM will play oldies music from
the ’60s, ’70s, and even early ’80s,” said Journal Broadcast Group Vice President and General Manager –Wichita Operations Eric McCart. “A lot of the songs listeners will hear on True Oldies 1070 AM originally
aired on AM radio, and we want to bring those favorites back for them where it all started.”
The station will pull from a music library packed with thousands of the greatest hits from the late 1950s thru the early ’80s with a special focus on the mid-60s through the mid-70s. The play list includes artists like The
Beatles, The Beach Boys, Elvis, The Four Seasons, Motown artists, Buddy Holly and more.
