A Notre Dame tradition is taking a tour around campus this upcoming football season.

The construction at Notre Dame’s Joyce Center has pushed out the Friday night pep rallies, traditionally held in the south dome.

So, the pep rallies will be moved to other campus locations throughout the season.

It was canceled last year, but the Dillon Hall Pep Rally is back this year. It’s typically held on the Thursday before the first game, but this year it’ll be the main pep rally on the Friday before the Nevada game. It’s scheduled to start at 6:30, Sept. 4, in front of Dillon Hall and both Charlie Weis and the marching band set to make appearances.

A new student-only rally will be held on Thursday, September 10, before Notre Dame’s first away game at Michigan. It’s set to be held at the Stepan Center, where the student pep rallies were held during the 70s and 80s. Coach Weis and some football players will be in attendance.

The USC pep rally, on Oct. 16, still has no set location but it could be in the stadium.

The Connecticut rally, on Nov. 20, will be held in the new Purcell Pavilion on the south side of the Joyce Center.

The other pep rallies Michigan State (Sept. 18), Washington (Oct. 2), Boston College (Oct. 23) and Navy (Nov. 6) will be held outside at the new hospitality village on the Irish Green, just south of the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center. The new “Rallies on the Green” will start at 6:30.

The hospitality village will be open Friday afternoon and early evening and Saturday mornings each home weekend. It’ll feature main stage entertainment, activities for kids, and food and beverages --including beer-- will be for sale.
