how to get linux root password

My friend has changed the password of my linux machine i am not able to
enter .can i break that password or i need to reinstall it again.what
should i do. how can break the password.I am using grub boot laoder.

I am a rather newbie in linux. I am using DeveloperIQ linux which is a subset of Red Hat linux v.8 (mostly). I am not able to open any kde based program like Kdevelop,Koffice etc. niether I am able to use GhostScript and ggv, Adobe acrobat reader etc.

Want to Remove FedoraCore 2 Linux and retains coexisted Windows XP
Submitted by andrew_wmsiu on Fri, 11/26/2004 - 00:45. The Answer GangI have recently installed FedoraCore 2 in the same hard disk which is originally booted from Windows XP. However, I can boot the Linux from the Grub Bootloader and fail to boot from Windows XP again.

I am currently developing a driver for camcorder in RedHat Linux 9.0 using V4L.
Could any one tell me wether the Device should be V4L Compliant ? Also, any docs that can provide me support developing V4L driver ?
Forgotten root password, unable to boot up in single mode as automatically log on a default user
