  • Nintendo Hard: The name of this trope is a great irony, because it was frequently Sega who delivered the toughest console games on the market. Spend some time with Sega's 8- and 16-bit libraries (especially the former) and you'll find game after game packed with difficult and demanding gameplay. This philosophy was part of Sega's arcade heritage, where games are tuned for frequent coin drops, but it spilled over into many, many of their console and handheld games as well.
