The Werepig
(Usually subtitled with O Güerepork) is a stop-motion horror comedy short by Conflictivos Productions, originally released in 2008.
When George and Bill, two Americans touring in Spain, take their crass behavior too far, the tour bus (which wasn’t theirs to begin with) kicks them out into the Galician desert. The two find refuge in the form of Abuela and Abuelo, married farmers who present themselves as sweet and loving… but George finds out the hard way that things aren’t always what they seem.
Tropes:
- Affectionate Parody: Of An American Werewolf in London with bits of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre sprinkled in.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Abuela and Abuelo seem like nice people as they take two dehydrated and exhausted tourists in... but if the pentagram on their henhouse doesn't tip you off, their demeanors turning from gentle to ravenous just before George transforms will.
- Downer Ending: George is unable to escape the farmers and his remains are served to Bill, who is doomed to meet the same fate.
- Dramatic Irony: George and Bill think the bus they’re taking is headed to Benidorm, but it’s clear in the first couple of seconds that they’re going the opposite direction.
- Even Bullies Have Standards: George is a huge dick to Bill, rejecting his offers and drinking all the water before giving any to him when they’re out in the desert. That being said, when they make it to Abuela and Abuelo’s farm, George still lets them know that Bill needs their shelter.
- Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Abuela and Abuelo (Spanish for Grandma and Grandpa) are what the credits call the farmers, and Abuela's meat brand calls her such too, though her husband calling her over at one point suggests her name to be Carmeña.
- Fat Idiot: Subverted. Bill seems oblivious and is just as slobby as George, but the ending reveals that unlike George, he knows his Spanish and is able to converse with Abuela. Not that it saves him.
- Fat Slob: While both boys are crass and unhygienic, Bill in particular is fatter and noticeably gluttonous.
- Gasshole: The boys have a burping contest on the bus before snapping and jeering at a woman trying to tell them to stop.
- Karmic Transformation: One of two slobbish Americans is turned into a pig to be killed and eaten, the other stated to be next.
- Our Werebeasts Are Different: As the title states, George is bitten by a pig and turned into one, the transformation happening after the full moon’s rise.
- Virtuous Character Copy: Subverted. Abuela and Abuelo seem like nicer takes on the Tweedys. The two pairs look similar (though Abuela and Abuelo have more distinct physical traits), but Abuela and Abuelo's farming conditions for their animals are significantly better and the two genuinely love each other… then there’s the fact that they curse and murder two people who were stupid at best and jerks at worst.
- Vomit Indiscretion Shot: Not long after the boys are kicked out of the bus, Bill throws up all the junk he’s consumed into a gross, thick yellow puddle that he soon passes out on.
- Wicked Witch: While both her and her husband use dark magic to turn George into a pig, Abuela especially fits, being an old lady with a Sinister Schnoz.
