Scooby-Doo! and Krypto, Too! is a 2023 Direct-to-Video crossover film between Scooby-Doo and Krypto the Superdog from Warner Bros. Animation, and the final in the Scooby-Doo Direct-to-Video Film Series that began with Zombie Island 25 years earlier.
Mystery Incorporated teams up with Krypto the Superdog to investigate the disappearance of the Justice League and end up trapped in the Hall of Justice with the superdog and Lex Luthor when Krypto initiates a lockdown.
Material for Scooby-Doo! and Krypto, Too! contains the following tropes:
- Actor Allusion: During the Solomon Grundy chase sequence, Shaggy dresses up as Robin at one point, as Casey Kasem was not only Shaggy's first voice actor, but also voiced Robin in The Adventures of Batman and the Hanna-Barbera Batman cartoons, The New Scooby-Doo Movies and Superfriends. Later on, Scooby-Doo dresses up as Wonder Dog, since Frank Welker voiced Wonder Dog in Superfriends.
- Advertised Extra: A large number of the villains that appear in the film have few to no lines. Brainiac's Skullship, despite appearing on the cover only appears in one scene and plays no part in the plot. Brainiac himself never actually appears.
- All Girls Want Bad Boys:
- Gender-Inverted. Fred has a crush on Harley Quinn, evident by his knowledge of her being an associate member of the Legion of Doom and a Crush Filter, much to Daphne's dismay. Only lasts that one scene, though.
- Similarly, the reason Mercy Graves decided to start her own supervillain business was because she thinks her boss has gone soft with all his failures. However, when Luthor reveals that he knew about her "Scooby-Doo" Hoax and hijacks it for his own Evil Plan, she is so impressed that she comes crawling back to him.
- Alone with the Psycho: Invoked by Krypto, who initiates a lockdown on the gang so the phantom cannot escape the Hall of Justice. However, he didn't account for Lex Luthor, Mercy Graves, Rex, and Solomon Grundy being trapped inside as well.
- Artifact of Doom: In the Hall of Justice, Scooby mischievously puts on a Red Lantern Ring which hulks him out with rage, before Velma quickly removes it off him.
- Art Shift: Back in the other direction. While this movie's predecessor, Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!, adopted an art style adjacent to Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?, Krypto reverts to the previous style that started with Abracadabra Doo. note
- Bait-and-Switch: Jimmy Olsen's girlfriend is presumably Velma due to their similarities. It turns out his girlfriend is Daphne.
- Bait-and-Switch Comment: Krypto whines upon seeing a picture of his master, and Scooby sympathetically notes that he must miss Superman. Luthor says that so does he...every time he shoots at him.
- Balloon Belly: Scooby and Shaggy get giant jiggling, hanging guts that are just barely not touching the floor after eating a whole ton of French fries. When Mayor Fleming shows up, the duo had magically gone back to normal.
- Brick Joke: During the Final Battle, Daphne remarks that Velma is more like Wonder Woman. When the Justice League return and learn that Lex Luthor was behind their disappearance, Wonder Woman mutters "jinkies", which Velma teasingly nudges Daphne on.
- Call-Back: Daphne reminds Fred that they know Batman when he gets overexcited about finding the hero's utility belt.
- The Cameo: The 2006 animated version of the Legion of Super-Heroes appears along with a young Superman and Superman-X when Shaggy, Scooby and Solomon Grundy travel through time by using the Cosmic Treadmill.
- Catchphrase: Fred's "Hold the phone!" catchphrase returns from Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?. Ironically he still fumbles in the scene where the rest of the gang exclaimes theirs.
- Chairman of the Brawl: When Jimmy trips and the ghost goes after him, Lois grabs a fallen chair and tosses it at the spook. It passes through him without apparent harm.
- Chekhov's Gun: Fred and Daphne learn from the Hall of Justice's parking valet that Wonder Woman keeps an invisible jet and an invisible tank in the parking garage. Fred later commandeers the tank, and the valet flies the jet during the final battle.
- Clark Kenting: Played for Laughs.
- Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen are unable to recognize Velma without her glasses, even when she takes them off in front of them.
- Lampshaded when Superman returns and goes back to being Clark Kent, Velma points out he was just there, but when she starts to call him "Superman", Krypto nudges her to get her to stop it. Clark then does the "I can't see without my glasses" bit to further cover it up.
- Continuity Porn: The Hall of Justice Trophy Room with references to Justice League/Superfriends history.
- Crazy Jealous Guy: Fred becomes this the minute Jimmy proclaims Daphne as his girlfriend, despite her insistence that their relationship wasn't serious, in which he becomes a Heroic Wannabe to impress her.
- Crossover Ship: In-Universe. Jimmy has a crush on Daphne ever since the two were labeled "Best Redheaded Couple" at a camp they attended as kids. Daphne is more exasperated that neither he nor Fred will let it go.
- Crush Filter: When Daphne asks why Fred knows so much about Harley Quinn, the viewer gets a brief shot from his point of view of her surrounded in falling flower petals, followed by a shot of Fred gazing at her.
- Decoy Protagonist: Decoy Deuteragonist, to be exact. Lois Lane and Jimmy Olson are prominently featured in The Teaser and are seemingly set up to help Mystery Inc. with the investigation, but they end up staying out of it and are never seen again until the mystery is over, leaving Krypto as the true deuteragonist of the movie.
- Department of Redundancy Department: A blink and miss it moment when Shaggy fires off a heap of Green Arrow's Trick Arrows sees one of them with a crossbow on the end.
- "Eureka!" Moment: Velma figures out the culprit behind the mystery when Luthor complains about being trapped in the Hall of Justice before he can bulldoze the building. It turns out Mercy was planning to do the same thing for herself.
- Evil Laugh: Most of the Joker's dialogue. Harley also gets several, but she talks more.
- Foreshadowing: When the gang drives away from Solomon Grundy, he groans and looks quietly unhappy, an unusual thing if one assumes he's trying to harm them. It turns out he just wants to make friends.
- Freeze-Frame Bonus: When Velma shows Daphne the information she found on Giganta, the viewer can also see some information about the supervillainess' civilian identity, affiliations, and powers.
- Furry Confusion: For some reason, Krypto and Rex Ruthor are established as non-talking dogs in this movie, unlike Scooby, who is also a dog. note In Rex's case, he has a Suddenly Speaking moment during a Robotic Reveal.
- Hijacked by Ganon: After Lex Luthor's assistant Mercy Graves is revealed to be the culprit behind the mystery, Luthor takes over her scheme as the Final Boss, having known about it all along.
- Holodeck Malfunction: While raiding "The Kitchen" (the League's oddly-named holodeck) after unknowingly setting it to resemble an actual kitchen, Scooby and Shaggy accidentally summon holograms of the Legion of Doom and the hologram of Zod damages the control panel.
- Is the Answer to This Question "Yes"?: When Lois asks Jimmy if he brought his camera, he says that that's as obvious as asking whether he brought his eyes.
- Keep Away: The climactic battle has Krypto, Mystery Inc., Helen the food truck owner, and J.B. the valet parker doing this against Luthor, Mercy, Rex, and Luthor's robot army to get ahold of the Phantom Zone projector.
- Loyal Animal Companion: Both Scooby and Krypto are friendly dogs who are loyal to their friends.
- Meaningful Echo: Lois asks Jimmy if he brought his camera, and he answers that that's like asking if he brought his eyes. She retorts that cameras don't lie the way eyes do. After the ghost chases them, Jimmy stops momentarily to get a few photos. When Lois asks him what in the world he's doing, he answers, "Eyes lie."
- Motive Rant: Mercy does this after she's revealed to be the culprit, explaining that she believes her boss has suffered Villain Decay enough for her to start her own supervillain business. When Luthor proves her wrong by efficiently hijacking her scheme, he goes off on his own rant, explaining his past and motivations before becoming the Final Boss, winning her loyalty back.

- Daphne compares herself to Batman and does well using his grappling line and batarangs. She's capably filled in for Batgirl in film and comics.
- When Scooby first sees Solomon Grundy, he mistakes him for the Creeper (as in the popular original series Scooby villain, not the lesser-known Batman villain of the same name).
- Besides Superman, the Flash and Wonder Woman are the only other Justice Leaguers who speak at all here, which nods to the fact that Mystery Inc met the latter two before.
- Grundy wanting to pet Scooby-Doo as well as Krypto for being cuddly also bring in mind his moments of trying to Cuddle Cheetah in Justice League.
- To the Superman films:
- Not Hyperbole: When Giganta attacks the Mystery Machine, Fred exclaims her name, which Daphne scolds him for before Velma corrects her.
- Not Now, Kiddo: While he and Lois are investigating the abandoned Hall of Justice, Jimmy tells her that he heard something. Lois brushes him off, claiming that the last group is long gone, only for the ghost to interrupt.
- Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: When Scooby and Shaggy yell in fear about the villains, Frank Welker accidentally channels Fred's voice for the former.
- Plot-Irrelevant Villain: Halfway through the movie, Solomon Grundy infiltrates the Hall of Justice and antagonizes the gang during the mystery. However, it turns out that he was just trying to make a new friend, albeit aggressively.
- Poke the Poodle: The gang's first sign that the Joker and Harley Quinn are in the area isn't violence or Deadly Gas, but the fact that the Superman statue has been defaced with paint on the eyes and mouth.
- Red Herring: Helen the food truck owner and J.B. the valet parker are the prime suspects after outright voicing their dislike working for the Justice League and hopes that their headquarters stays haunted by the phantom. They're both innocent and even help the gang in the Final Battle against the culprits.
- Robotic Reveal: During the final fight, it's revealed that Luthor's dog is actually a robot with a kryptonite heart.
- Scarecrow Solution: The phantoms turn out to be the Justice League trying to break out of the Phantom Zone where Mercy Graves imprisoned them using the Phantom Zone projector as part of her plan to convert the Hall of Justice into her very own supervillain headquarters behind Luthor's back, explaining their disappearance.
- Self-Deprecation: When a Locked Out of the Loop Lex Luthor frustratedly asks what the ghosts are, Scooby and the gang try to deter him by blaming it on swamp gas. He snaps and calls that the most ridiculous thing he's ever heard.Lex Luthor: And I saw Superman: The Musical.
- Self-Proclaimed Love Interest: Jimmy apparently lied to Lois that he and Daphne were dating, despite the latter's protests. He eventually calls it off at the end of the movie.
- Skewed Priorities: When Mercy reveals her plan to take over the Hall of Justice and adds that she will give away free snacks, Scooby and Shaggy attempt to join her, which Daphne has to remind them about supervillains running amok in Metropolis.
- Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Despite Metropolis being overrun with villains because the Justice League is missing, the citizens continue to walk the streets like it's any other day.
- Urban Hellscape: With the Justice League missing, Metropolis is overrun by villains on the rampage, destroying property and kidnapping people. Lois refers to it as having become "positively Gotham".
- Villainous Rescue: When Solomon Grundy attacks the gang and it looks like he might harm Scooby Doo and Krypto, Mercy, the culprit who at the time had long since imprisoned the Justice League and was in the midst of trying to terrorize the gang, goes out of her way to use the Phantom Projector to send him away before he can hurt them. She's never given a reason for doing so beyond not wanting them to be lethally hurt, either - prompting Scooby to give her a lick on the cheek despite her being well into her villain reveal at the time.
- We Can Rule Together: Before Luthor takes over the lead villain's role, he offers Krypto to join him in ruling Metropolis, impressed by his plan to capture the phantoms. Krypto just growls at him in response.Lex Luthor: (annoyed) Ugh, Superman said the same thing.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: The villains are still on the loose by the end of the movie, but with the Justice League back, they'll be recaptured. A couple of people are snatched up by the Skullship and then aren't seen or brought up again. Also, Solomon Grundy smashes open the bottled city of Kandor, thus letting its people out. We never see what happens to them either, though given that they're Kryptonians, they'll presumably be fine as long as they get some sunlight.
