Just Super provides examples of:
- Animal-Themed Superbeing: Super Lion of course, it's right there in the name!
- Clothes Make the Superman: The Super Lion costume is what gives the wearer their powers, enhancing both their positive and negative traits.
- Cool Old Lady: Hedvig's grandmother is definitely one. In the trailer she's shown supporting Hedvig and helping her train to become a proper superhero. She even rides a motorcycle! (Illegally!)Hedvig: I didn't know you had a motorcycle license!Grandma: Well, I don't! Here we go!
-
Fridge Brilliance: At least two Super Lions have been women. In a pride, the lioness does most of the hunting.- Fridge Horror: Leif mentions one of the previous Super Lions thought he was Spider-Man. Could that mean he had an undiagnosed mental illness, like schizophrenia, and the suit acerbated it?
- Gamer Chick: Hedvig herself, this is basically her main superpower.
- Legacy Character: Super Lion is apparently one, with the mantle being passed down the family tree from generation to generation.
- Power at a Price: As mentioned in the official trailer the supersuit strengthens both positive and negative traits, amplifying a person's best traits as well as their worst traits.
- Pun-Based Title: The original Norwegian title Helt super ("absolutely great") is a play on superhelt ("superhero").
-
They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: A bit of backstory on just how the costume works, its origins—science? sorrcery? alien tech?— and just why it boosts one's natural talents and darkest desires would have been nice. The only clue is that it's been in the family for hundreds of years. - Villainous BSoD: Adrian has one after he seemingly drops Leif to his death. As he falls, Leif manages to remove his superhero suit, which was enhancing Adrian's negative traits, returning him to his normal state of mind. As his actions dawn on him, Adrian can only sit in quiet disbelief at what he'd just done.
- "Well Done, Son" Guy: Hedvig wants to earn her father's approval, but struggles due to lacking the supposed qualities of a superhero.
