Welcome to the Convenience Store (Webcomic)
Midnight snack needed? No problem! Drink after work? We're on it! Craving a pack of cigarettes? We'll be happy to serve you, as soon as you show your drivers license...

Welcome to the Convenience Store (와라! 편의점) is a weekly gag manhwa that follows the lives of three employees, their manager, and all the different people they serve. Whether it be sorting out snacks by expiration date, trying to work the cash register, or just dealing with troublesome customers, the tales of this 24/7 store will be sure to elicit a smile and warm the heart.

This webtoon is written and illustrated by Ji Gang Min, who hosts it in its original language on Naver. An English translation was done with 110 chapters before it was dropped due to Naver representatives going after unofficial translations.

600 chapters have been published in Korean.

Officially made into a 2-season animation series. It can be viewed here (in Korean).

This webtoon shows examples of:

  • Black Comedy Rape: In chapter 3, Min Jun brings up how popular he is with male customers, to which Hae Yun tells him to "watch for the soap when you go to the army". To that end, Min Jun can never look at soap the same way again at the mere mention of it in later chapters.
  • Cranial Eruption: Misbehaving customers usually earn themselves comical cranial bumps in the "bonus scenes" that end each strip. In the very first chapter, a high schooler earns a mountain of them from Hae Yun after trying (and failing) to hide that his ID was fake.
  • Fourth-Wall Mail Slot: To celebrate the comic's 50th chapter, the cast of Welcome to the Convenience Store answered readers' frequently asked questions.
  • I Have This Friend: When "Young Girls' Generation" comes up in conversation between Hae Yun and the manager, the manager (who seems to know too much about the group) asks a question about "his friend": "is it wrong to be 45 and like Young Girls' Generation?" He then turns his back and starts singing the group's song "Girls' Generation".
  • No Periods, Period: Averted. There is a regular customer who is too shy to buy tampons (but only if the part-timer was a guy).
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: The daughter in chapter seven gives her father a huge stare when she realises her father only has enough money for her snack or his cigarettes. Her father immediately gives up his cigarettes to buy her snack.
  • She Is Not My Girlfriend: In chapter 45, Jae Uk, a high schooler with a crush on Hae Yun, is gearing up to confess his love to the worker when his school friend Yoon Hwa comes in. When Hae Yun mistakes Yoon Hwa for his girlfriend, he struggles to find a way to deny and ends up calling Yoon Hwa a "friendly woman person".
  • Shout-Out:
    • The customers in the Ppangsang Flavor chapter are based off the characters in the Gag Concert sketch "The Master". One of the customers, based off the titular masters, boasts about having eaten the same type of bread for 16 years, a reference to one of his Gag Concert catchphrases.
    • A parody of the webtoon Trace, featuring its characters Morrienoah Jin and Jangmi, makes up the majority of Chapter 68. Jin's fondness for the color red, caused by Jangmi, is the reason he can only remember that the cigarette brand he liked was red... something.
    • When angry in chapter 47, Min Jun has an aura and glowing hair, like in Dragon Ball Z.
    • The customer who wants to buy cigarettes with a check card Chapter 8 is Kusanagi Kyo from the King of Fighters series.
    • In chapter 252, A Star Craft Baneling makes an appearance.
  • Waxing Lyrical: As shown in chapter 19, Min Jun's way of dealing with foreign customers is by spouting "I'm so sorry but I love you" and "baby one more time", lyrics from Big Bang's "Lies" and Jewelry's "One More Time" respectively.
