Pipe Up (Webcomic)
Kai to the left and The Warren to the right
Pipe Up! is an anthro webcomic made by SaltnPepperBunny as a collaboration with TinySweetBunny and TheTRUEgge, about the struggles of Dissociative Identity Disorder. It focuses on the comic's protagonist, Piper, one of the system's alters, after the original host Percy disappears for unknown reasons and how this effects the relationship with Percy's best friend and lover Kai.

Pipe Up contains examples of:

  • Abusive Parents: Percy's father is a strict, controlling parent who doesn't approve of the possibility of Percy being in a gay relationship with Kai.
  • Alternate Identity Amnesia: The members of the Warren aren't always aware of what the other ones do while in control. Quinn, in particular, tends to push others out of the front and cause total blackouts to the others, as seen in Chapter 1.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: You can tell which alter is fronting by the protagonist's eye colour.
    • Piper: Green
    • Harper: Purple
    • Niko: Orange
    • Quinn: Cyan
    • Percy: Pink
    • Gawain: Silver
  • Cradle of Loneliness: Sort of. When Kai is missing Percy at one point he asks Piper to send him a picture she had drawn of the Warren, which features Percy, to make himself fell better.
  • Drugs Are Bad: Kai is shocked to see the Warren (fronted by Niko) smoking.
  • Gender-Equal Ensemble: Discounting the non-binary Niko and the non-fronting Gawain, the Warren consists of two female members (Piper and Harper) and two male (Percy and Quinn).
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: Quinn's appearance is slightly scarred, including one over his eye. According to the first Q&A session, they represent real wounds, but not ones that have ever bled. Despite that, he serves as Percy's system's protector.
  • Internal Reveal: Piper narrates the introduction in Chapter 1, but everyone refers to her as Percy, and only at the end of the chapter does she tell Kai that she's not Percy.
  • Mummies at the Dinner Table: Subverted. Piper, and the rest of the Warren, must play the part of Percy so no one gets suspicious. Kai is the only other character who knows the truth.
  • The Reveal: Throughout the comic Kai continues to make offhand mentions of a "fight" that Piper has no memory of. It's not until Chapter 4 that he finally tells Piper that Percy told Kai's parents they were dating and the entire town learned about Kai being gay, and the fact that Percy's name wasn't tarnished caused them to fight.
  • Secret-Keeper:
    • Kai is the first and only character any of the Warren have told about Percy having Dissociative Identity Disorder.
    • Quinn holds harmful memories and knowledge and keeps them away from the rest of the system, and is also hiding Gawain's existence.
  • The Shadow Knows: Periodically, the shadows of Percy's alters are cast on the wall instead of Percy's silhouette.
  • Toothy Bird: Harper routinely shows off a full set of teeth when she's emoting, alongside other birds in the setting.
  • We ARE Struggling Together: The members of the Warren are allies but often don't get along. This gets further exemplified in Chapter 5, where Piper goes online and manages to find resources for those with Dissociative Identity Disorder, including stories from other systems.
  • World of Funny Animals: The setting is populated with funny animals, although they're relatively feral for a setting that largely resembles the real world.
