Elf Comic is a web comic series created by Merrivius. The first comic was uploaded on June 4, 2024, and was later uploaded to Webtoons (along with other pages) on July 30, 2024, where it can be read.

The comic follows the titular nameless Elf and her insistence of her superiority to Standard Fantasy Races, though special mention goes to The Human. Any attempt to prove this, however, usually ends in ways she didn't intend.

Elf Comic provides examples of:

• Alleged Lookalikes: Human and Dwarf mistook a Christmas elf for Elf. The Christmas Elf is even shorter than her, wears a green and red unitard, is bald, has a long round nose, and is obnoxiously jolly, while Elf is taller than him (if still rather short), wears a green dress, has long dirty blond hair (that may or may not be a wig), has a short, pointed nose, and is constantly rude and narcissistic.
• Animals Hate Her: A cow once stood up and shot at Elf with its milk like a gatling gun. Possibly subverted, as Human says they're in "a bad meadow" and not necessarily that they hate Elf specifically.
• Appease the Volcano God: Elf's first encounter with Gnomes has them throwing her into a volcano for reasons known only to them.
  Dwarf: Bah. Elves always get worshipped to death.
• Art Shift: Reaction panels that show the Elf responding to getting called out for her behavior or taken aback by others' comments are typically drawn in a more detailed, realistic style than the rest of the comic.
• Aside Glance: Elf does this rather often when she's disturbed by something, usually relating to Human, as if she's silently asking if the viewer agrees with her disgust.
• Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: While there are multiple strips implying that Elf is a Bigot with a Crush toward Human, "Where he was last seen" provides the first instance of her outright dropping her extreme aggression toward him and showing that she does care about him deep down. The strip opens with her ready to bully him as usual, but when the crying Dwarf and Orc tell her that he is at the graveyard, she is genuinely shocked and saddened by his apparent demise, weakly stammering "Hu-Human?" as she looks mournfully upon a grave. It turns out that Human isn't dead (just working as a gravedigger), but Elf didn't know this.
• Awesome, but Impractical: Like everything else she does, Elf’s "Giga Drill Elf Attack" is this; despite being able to throw herself spinning at high speed at someone, it does minimal damage (she only manages to bore a hole in Human’s shirt) and all that spinning makes her get dizzy enough to vomit. She did this five times despite all this.
• Bad with the Bone: "Where he was last seen" has Elf carrying a bone that she probably intends to use as a weapon against Human.
• Bait-and-Switch: In "Heartaches", Elf asks Sphinx the Shrink to check her heartaches that happen everytime she thinks about her humans. Sphinx tells her that the symptoms are common for a girl her age (leading Elf to make a cute "realizing she's in love" face)... she's having a regular heart attack.
• Baldness Angst: "Looksmaxxing Elf" reveals she's actually wearing a wig when Dawg steals it. She is clearly uncomfortable when Orc rubs her head and him and Dwarf start chanting "One of us".
  • An older comic actually depicted her hair as real, but getting torn off by sheep. Presumably it's based on Rule of Funny.
• Beauty Is Never Tarnished:
  • Averted by the main Elf. Her normal expressions make her actually rather cute and adorable, but she's the most frequent victim of slapstick in the comic, and the moment her emotions get the better of her, her face makes some impressive looks.
  • Played straight by the other Elves, who are usually depicted with normal pretty expressions at all times. The wildest they get is the Elf Priestess' mouth growing rather large when she's yelling at Elf to cut out her antics, which is, admittedly, quite often.
• Beyond the Impossible: In Elf's Bizarre Couples (?) Therapy Session, when Elf decides to let the Human catch her during their trust fall exercise, she somehow manages to fall off the face of the planet. She blames the Human for not paying attention.
• Big Beautiful Man: Human is apparently this. Orc and Dwarf do praise his body, but he's much skinnier than either of them, which is likely where that comes from. Elf considers his chub ugly, but she would likely do that regardless; and Human himself seems proud of his body anyways, so it's up in the air how much he truly counts as this.
• Bigot with a Crush: It's heavily implied the Elf is secretly attracted to the Human. She goes out of her way to strenuously deny it when she's asked something even tangentially related to this.
• Bigotry Before Reason: The Elf constantly finds herself on the short end of the stick due to trying to screw over the others. The crowning example has to be when she lets herself fall to her death instead of being saved by Human, Orc and Dwarf.
• Big, Thin, Short Trio: The three males outside Elf’s species she interacts forms this kind of trio, Orc is the stocky and intimidating Big, Human is the lanky skinny-fat Thin, and Dwarf is the small yet wide Short.
• Black Comedy: "Elf and nature" results in Elf unintentionally causing a 9/11 on her own kingdom.
• Blatant Lies: The Elf recounts her day with the Human in her diary, with many alterations to what really happens.
• Breaking the Fourth Wall:
  • Elf slams her head into the top of a panel in this comic,
  • She once panicked when she saw Human's thought bubble interpreted her as saying she's an alien.
  • In "Elf is finally dead", Orc wonders if they should call it Human Comic now.
• Burn the Witch!: High Priestess and Elf find themselves at a "Centaur Barbeque" because Elf feels justified in insulting their king.
• Call-Back:
  • In "Resemblance is uncanny", the Elf Glamour magazine mentions an article titled "How to diss a goblin".
  • In "All hail the goddess princess Elf", Elf summons "the beasts", meaning Elf's wolf and Dawg's offspring from "Elf and wolf".
  • In the 2nd anniversary illustration, the original Elf, shot through the back by a clone in "Trust yoursElf", returns—still with the piercing hole— for revenge.
• Can't Argue with Elves: Elf carries herself this way, though the other Elves don't seem to share her views and find her antics tiresome.
• Clingy Jealous Girl: It's happening has the Elf, who is wearing a wedding dress, furiously objecting to a wedding between the Human and his bride. It turns out to be a prank set up by gnomes using Latex Perfection and Elf feels embarrassed, especially when they said it was recorded.
• Cluster *Bleep*-Bomb: Done by the Elf in this comic after she gets a bit drunk. It's implied she's yelling offensive epitaphs.
  Dwarf: "Ach! At that pace, she'll be slurrin' her words!"
• Da Chief: "Hardboiled Elf" features an Elven police chief chewing her out for being a Cowboy Cop.
• Decoy Protagonist: The comic begins with a random goblin who encounters the Elf and the Dwarf, with the implications he's the main character and even the comic being titled "Goblin Adventures". However, the Goblin ends up dying in his sleep after the Elf calls him disgusting, with the implication he committed suicide in shame after being insulted. From the second issue onwards, the main plot with the Elf and the Human properly begins.
• Disproportionate Retribution:
  • The Elf's response to Sphinx the Shrink alluding to her "having a thing" for the Human is to set Sphinx's place on fire.
  • When Kent the Centaur makes too many horse puns, the Elf grinds him up into sausages.
• A Dog Named "Dog": The Human named his pet dog "Dawg".
• Door Dumb: The Elf tries to exit a dungeon in a panic by trying to pull it open but giving up and instead squeezing herself through the keyhole, giving herself a keyhole-shaped Forcibly Formed Physique. The dungeon's basilisk then opens the door by pushing it, saying the door opens outwards.
• Drives Like Crazy: Elf does this once to try and run over Human. Only to realize a massive flaw in her plan.
  Elf: "Wait, I don't know how to drive..." *BANG*
• Epic Fail: "Elf and wolf" starts with Elf gloating to the human about her majestic spirit wolf. Human has a dog named "Dawg." The comic ends with Elf burying her face in shame into her palms while her wolf gave birth to a litter of puppies who all inherited their mother's good looks and their father's size and lack of intelligence.
• Embarrassing Tattoo: Elf, as a young child, wanted a cool tiger tattoo another elf got. She got a poorly drawn one farting with the phrase "No regets" under it on her right arm.
• Establishing Character Moment: The first strip has the Elf insult a random goblin, which is the crux of her character.
• The Everyman: The Human is just an ordinary man who managed to draw the obsessive hate of an Elf.
• Explosive Breeder: This is the outcome between the Elf's wolf and the Human's... "wolf", much to the owner of the former's chagrin.
• Face of a Thug:
  • The Orc is introduced as a big, barbaric character drinking the blood of a rat. However later on is revealed he's actually an easygoing Nice Guy who gets along with everyone, though he's still a bit brutish.
  • The Basilisk from issue 30 appears as a scary dungeon monster with several Spikes of Villainy, but at the end it turns out he simply wanted to help Elf's party to exit the dungeon, politely opening the door to them so they can leave.
• Fantastic Racism: The Elf has this towards several people besides elves, but she seems to hate humans most of all.
• The Farmer and the Viper: "Boat incident" has plays out the fable, with the Elf smashing the boat the two are crossing just to troll him. She didn't know he could swim.
• Flipping the Bird:
  • Human tried to pat Elf once. It didn't go well.
  • "Forever alone" has her double flipping the human simply for waving at her.
  • Elf is surprised that Santa Clause would give her a present. He uses his Christmas magic to disintegrate the present and flip her off.
• Forehead of Doom: Elf's massive forehead is made the butt of the joke in "Gigabrain Elf", where it grows big enough that the others can slide down it.
• The Friend Nobody Likes: Ironically, our main Elf is this among her race, with the other elves finding her as an annoying weirdo and not sharing her supremacist views at all. Even more ironically, Human, Orc, and Dwarf seem to like her just fine despite her very loud disdain for them.
• Goblin Face: The Elf is normally portrayed with a cute appearance, but her face can distort into a myriad of grotesque shapes at least once per comic. This is lampshaded in "Elf and High Priestess", where the latter is annoyed by the protagonist's incompetence, racism... and silly facial expressions.
  High Priestess: "And for one last thing... WILL YOU STOP MAKING THOSE STUPID FACES?!"
• Godiva Hair: The Dwarf is always naked, his immense beard covering his groin.
• Gonk: Most of the characters have this, the Human has his eyes at two different heights, the Orc has a massive head on a fat little body, and the dwarf is constantly naked with a very rotund body. Most Elves avert this, but the main Elf occasionally experiences this as a Wild Take.
• Gross-Out Show: Downplayed, but some gags from this style of cartoon show up, such as Elf eating unidentified "slop", Dwarf being constantly naked, and the expressions on Elf's face can get rather gross at times.
• Hair-Trigger Temper: Many pages show how unstable Elf is, usually caused by her overt hatred towards Human.
• Hates Everyone Equally: The Elf isn't just racist towards humans. She pretty much looks down on every other race to assert the superiority of elves.
• He Cleans Up Nicely: The Human has an impressive chin when he bothers to shave it.
• Hoist by His Own Petard: Every plan Elf has to embarrass or hurt others typically blows up in her face.
• Hollywood Autism: Several comics imply Elf has this. It's usually depicted as her yelling incoherently like she's having a meltdown, usually just because Human is in her sights.
• I Ate WHAT?!:
  • In "Elf's Disappointment Is Immeasurable and her day is ruined, Elf has this reaction to enjoying a hamburger Human made. There's nothing wrong with the burger, she's just upset she liked something Human made.
  • In "Gourmet Elf", Elf tries to eat Human's "Pitiful Human Cuisine" without gagging to show him up. It's actually slop he feeds to pigs, with Elf clearly disgusted. Orc loves it though.
• I Never Said It Was Poison: In "Elf's mate for Valentine", when the High Priestess urges her to find a mate, she immediately complains she won't go with the Human, although he wasn't mentioned at all. The High Priestess is amused while the Elf breaks down in every sense of the word.
• Jerkass: The Elf is condescending to anyone she views as inferior to her, to the point that even other elves regard her with disdain. Much of the comic's humor is derived from her narcissism blowing up in her face.
• Karmic Butt-Monkey: The Elf is often subjected to many humiliating and painful situations, but most of the time they're the result of her own stupidity or petty attempts to prove her superiority to others.
• Laser-Guided Karma: The Elf's attempts to belittle or humiliate the Human often backfire on her in hilarious ways.
• Lantern Jaw of Justice: In "Chinlet", the Human decides to shave his beard off as the Elf mocks at him for lacking a chin... only to find out that he has a surprisingly large, protruding jawline.
• Loophole Abuse: In "When Elf autism hits", the High Priestess warns the Elf that she'll be expelled from the elven grove of harmony if she says one word about hating humans. So, she doesn't say a single word, but instead screeches incoherently while chasing after the Human.
• Luminescent Blush: In "Elf friend", when the Human tells the Elf she's a girl (and) friend to him^note the "and" is written smaller, implying that the Human didn't say it properly and that the Elf heard "girlfriend", her cheeks become red… then her entire face… then she explodes.
• Made of Evil: Not even Elf's skeleton wants to be near her. It runs away at the first chance it can.
• Made of Explodium:
  • In "Elf friend", when the Human tells the Elf she's "a girl and friend" to him, she explodes, making a mushroom in the process and forcing the Human to flee.
  • In "High fall Elf", after falling on the ground while she was avoiding the Dwarf's fart, the Elf explodes.
• Magitek: It's not established what the technological level of the world is, but it seems to vary by what's funniest at the moment. It's possible to enchant a wagon so that it operates like a car, and gnomes apparently have video cameras that they use to embarrass Elf when she objects to a fake wedding.
• Mister Seahorse: Subverted in "Elf witnesses a miracle", in which Orc is happy about supposedly being pregnant... only to find out that he is constipated instead.
• Mutually Unequal Relation: The Human doesn't seem to realize that the Elf openly views him as a gullible, uncouth being lower than herself, and believes they are friends (despite her frequently screaming about how she considers him inferior).
• My Species Doth Protest Too Much: Inverted. The Elf is a hyperactive, obnoxious bigot, much to the ire of her fellow elves, who are calm, peaceful, and annoyed by her antics.
• Naked People Are Funny: Dwarf doesn't see the need for clothes.
• Neck Snap: "Orc trick" has Orc run off after realizing that his remedy for fixing Elf's stiff neck ended up killing her.
• Negative Continuity: Several characters die in the comic but always return in later comics with no explanation. This is most obvious with Elf, who dies about once every 5 strips.
• Nice Guy:
  • Human, Orc, and Dwarf are all quite friendly and amicable to Elf. She never reciprocates, but they still treat her like a friend regardless.
  • The other Elves are typically portrayed as quite kind to other groups. With the Priestess only getting upset at Elf for her perpetual rudeness.
  • One comic had Elf panicking when a monster appears. Only for said monster to politely open the door for the party.
    • Really, the whole comic seems to consist mostly of these except for Elf, Dr. Sphinx, Kent, and Santa Claus.
• Noodle Incident: Several comics start with the Elf and her party stuck in some situation after going on some offscreen adventure.
• No Name Given: The characters have only been referred to as their species, such as Elf, Human, Orc, Goblin, and so on. The only exceptions are Kent The Centaur, Dawg, the Elf Priestess, and Santa Claus.
• N-Word Privileges: Elf wrote a magazine filled with 1000 slurs against humans. She also yelled anti-centaur slurs so bad they started a war to punish her for it (Admittedly, they were willing to let her go if she apologized. How do you think that went?).
• Older Than She Looks: The elf. Not helped by her small stature, as everyone is several heads taller than her. She also acts like a Psychopathic Womanchild.
• Our Centaurs Are Different:
  • Kent the Centaur has antlers that make him more resemble a moose than a horse, and he makes terrible horse puns so constantly that Elf kills him and grinds him into sausages in his first appearance.
  • (Dr.) Sphinx is a sphinx centaur, see under "Our Sphinxes Are Different" for details.
• Our Dwarves Are All the Same: The Dwarf is mostly a stereotypical Dwarf, but typical traits of Dwarves get exaggerated or parodied to ludicrous extremes. He literally married a rock, he believes that a hole in the ground is a suitable living space, he believes doesn't need clothes because of his aforementioned hole, he once dug a hole in the middle of a dessert for no reason, and once tried to go down a random hole in the ground and got stuck. Unlike most Dwarves, however, he doesn't seem to have any racism against Elves. (He's sometimes rude to the lead Elf, though that's more because of her personality than anything.)
• Our Elves Are Different: All Elves in this comic are depicted as very tall, beautiful, implicitly immortal, and while condescending, seem to genuinely admire "mortal" races. Besides the main Elf.
  • "Forever Yours" claims that Elves will find one Human and stick with them for life. Elf initially laughs this off as superstition, until Human points out something to her.
  Human: "Huh. Guess we're stuck with each other."
  Elf: *Laughing followed by a horrified look.*
  • They are also born when the Moon sheds a tear, which grows a flower that blooms into an Elf infant. Their first words shape their destiny.
  Elf: "I'm gonna say a slur!"
  (The Elf Priestess proceeds to bury Elf back underground.)
• Our Orcs Are Different: Besides his first appearance where he drinks a rat's blood, Orc is very different from standard depictions of Orcs. He is fat rather than muscular, and is mostly kind and well meaning, albeit he's rather dumb, and Does Not Know His Own Strength.
• Our Sphinxes Are Different: Dr. Sphinx is an Omnidisciplinary Scientist who's both a therapist and a medical doctor (Orc once went to her to give birth, but it was actually a turd he was constipated with). She is often highly annoyed by the other character's antics, though isn't nearly as self-defeating about it as Elf. She is depicted as a Centaur like character with large glasses, a large triangular nose, a neat Egyptian styled haircut, and a blue coat. She is also able to curse people when they do something to upset her, as she starts summoning a thunderstorm when Elf vomits in her face.
• Prefers Going Barefoot: Elf prances around barefoot to highlight her stereotypical closeness to nature as an elf. It backfires on her when she brags about how strong her feet are, only for Orc to test her claim by smashing her foot with his club.
• Psychological Projection: "Elf's Diary" depicts Elf calling Human arrogant and claiming he fled in tears when the comic shows her doing that, with Human just confused on her behavior.
• Pungeon Master: Kent the Centaur and his horse(-word)play.
• Puppy-Dog Eyes: The Elf is brought before the Elf Priestess bawling her eyes out and saying she's sorry for committing crimes against Humanity. She tries to pull this off, but the Elf Priestess sees right through it.
• Racial Face Blindness: Human can't tell one Elf apart from Christmas Elves.
• Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: The Elf's main "friend" circle includes herself, a delusional, racist idiot whose fellow elves can't stand; an ugly, violent Orc; a hole-obsessed, dirty, always nude Dwarf; and some unimpressive, pudgy Human guy, whose day jobs consist of menial labor.
• Running Gag: The Elf's stupid faces. Even the High Priestess acknowledges the Elf won't stop making them.
• Santa's Sweatshop: “Where all Elves Go” sees the Elf being abducted by the man in red and put to work in his toy factory, depicted here as a prison-like environment where miserable-working elves are toiling away, while a now-heavily-muscled (and much taller) Elf is seen lifting a barbell and marking off the days to Christmas on the wall.
• Self-Deprecation: One comic is called Dumbest Comic Yet. It consists of Elf barging in on her fellow Elves, making a goofy face, leaving, then all the other Elves (and a squirrel) are making the same face.
• Ship Tease: Later strips enjoy doing this with Elf and Human. Elf would talk about how much she hates him yet can't seem to stop obsessing over him. It can't be denied she's a Bigot with a Crush by now.
• Shout-Out:
  • In Elf's Diary, she is drawn as SpongeGar in his memetic pose in the first panel. She also writes in her diary that she asked calmly a question to Human when she actually screamed it at him.
  • "Dizzy Elf" begins with Elf attempting to hit Human with an attack named "Giga Drill Elf Attack", a likely nod to the Giga Drill Breaker from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
  • In Elf friend, the part where she gets enraged to the point where her head swells up in a graphic detail and explodes into a mushroom cloud is a reference to Thunder's death from Big Trouble in Little China.
  • In When Elf autism hits, Elf's naughty face in the third panel is Imhotep's memetic Psychotic Smirk from The Mummy (1999).
  • "Elf's last stand'' has the Centaur demand an apology from the Elf to prevent a war. Elf says no and charges off into the Centaurs like Aragorn from Lord Of The Rings Return Of The King.
  • The Dwarf's catchphrase "Diggy Diggy Hole!" is a reference to Yogscast's famous clip/song.
  • In "Elf's Bizarre Couples(?) Therapy", Elf is drawn in the style of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure in one panel when the Sphinx accuses her of backing down from a challenge. Elf jumps into low orbit and eventually stops thinking.
  • In Hole good, after Elf remarks only someone brainless would jump down a dangerous-looking hole marked "Fun Hole", Dwarf responds like Leonidas from 300: "Brainless? THIS IS SMARTA!!" In a Bait-and-Switch on the usual punchline, Dwarf jumps down the hole himself (and gets stuck) instead of kicking Elf into it. The final scene also resembles the Nutty Putty incident.
  • The art from the final panel of Trust Yourself is traced from a Dragon Ball Super meme◊.
  • In "Looksmaxxing Elf", she makes the face from "In the Court of the Crimson King" album cover.
  • One comic is called "Should've Gone To An Exorcist."
  • Elf's Disappointment Is Immeasurable and Her Day Is Ruined is named after a meme from The Report Of The Week / ReviewBrah, a YouTube channel mostly known for fast food reviews.
  • "No regrets" shows Elf mimicking "Hide The Pain Harold" for getting a really horrible tattoo when she was young.
  • "Elf is finally dead" reveals that inside of elf's head is a tiny alien Elf controlling from within.
• Sub-Par Supremacist: The Elf has a serious ego because of her race and looks down on all others but not only does much of the comedy of the comic come from her inability to make good on her racist claims, but not even other elves can stand her constant attempts at trying to harm the others.
• Tempting Fate: The Elf says she'd rather give her hair to sheep than to humans. Cue her entire weave getting torn off by the Human's sheep.
• Thin-Skinned Bully: As much as The Elf enjoys insulting Human, she does not appear to respond well when he talks back.
• Tiny Tyrannical Girl: The Elf fits this trope to a T: she's small, (hilariously) obnoxious, and her attempts to show her race's supremacy only make her relatives ashamed.
• Token Human: Human is the only human ever really seen. Orc and Dwarf are likewise the only ones of their races seen as well.
• Top-Heavy Guy: The Orc has a massive upper body, but his legs are comically tiny and slim.
• Trademark Favorite Food: It's implied Human loves potatoes, as when he's minding his own business, he'll have a thought bubble with potatoes in them.
• Transplant: The pink-haired elf from the author's previous series, Arlokk the Atrocious, serves as the High Priestess' assistant here.
• Tsundere: Several strips imply that the Elf may be this for the Human.
• Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: The Elf's grand and majestic Spirit Wolf and Human's small and goofy dog named "Dawg" get along in the most intimate kind of ways to Elf's dismay and Human's confusion.
• Vomit Indiscretion Shot:
  • In Dizzy Elf", after her "Giga Elf Drill Attack" which pierces the Human's shirt and nothing else, the Elf promptly throws up.
  • In Should've Gone To An Exorcist, she vomits directly into Dr. Sphinx's face, causing Human to carry her out the building as Dr. Sphinx summons a thunderstorm on her for it.
• Voodoo Doll: In Bad mojo Elf, Elf makes one of Human and takes it everywhere she goes (including in bed), hoping to instill endless fear in the target.
  Human: You sleep with a doll that looks like me?
• Wedding Smashers: In "It's happening", Elf violently interrupt's Human's wedding ceremony, only to find out that Human and the Bride are a pair of 6 Gnomes, who set up a sting operation to record her actions.
• Wild Take: The mostly cute main Elf will occasionally make over the top reactions that make her face look ridiculous. Lampshaded by the Elf Priestess in this comic.
• With Friends Like These...: Elf will keep making racist rants against her fellow party members. They don't mind her, however.
• Zany Cartoon: The comic can be considered one. Elf makes insane Wild Takes, gets into extreme slapstick situations, most of the characters look rather bizarre, there's little continuity, and the world operates by Rule of Funny.
