Archie Sonic Online
is a Fan Sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie Comics). In 2013, several legal issues forced the comic to undergo a Continuity Reboot, wiping out and altering 20 years' worth of characters and plotlines. While some fans were happy with the reboot, others were unhappy with the decision and wished to know what become of the old universe, as it left many questions unanswered and plotlines unresolved.
In 2015, a small group of fans gathered together in order to continue What Could Have Been. Archie Sonic Online seeks to continue the original continuity as it ended in Issue #247, making a proper conclusion to the unresolved Mecha Sally and King Naugus arcs that were going on at the time, then continue on with their own original direction. It solely covers the pre-rebooted comic universe, not the universe that came about after the Worlds Collide crossover, though elements from the new universe may appear as time goes on.
The main portion of the site consists of fan-versions of both the Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic Universe comics, continuing from the official numbering pre-Worlds Collide, as well as possible mini-series. Other than that, there are five issues of Mobius Legends, a collection of stories outside the main comic's canon that are meant to train the writers and artists that have joined the team. They also rewrote the Endangered Species arc, which was notorious for being immensely affected by the legal issues that led to the original comic's reboot.
Not to be confused with Sonic the Comic – Online!, a similar fan continuation of Sonic the Comic, or Sonic Retold, a fancomic that continues where the old universe left off after the Endangered Species arc, or Archie Sonic Forever, a similar continuation that diverges before the ending of issue 241.
In 2024, the team announced a new line, ''Archie Sonic Restored'', that would continue the reboot era. Much like the original timeline, the first wave of issues follows the storylines that were ongoing around the time of cancellation, before they eventually begin to tell original stories.
In addition, an alternative version of the Mega Man crossover event Worlds Collide was also announced for the ASO universe, without the cosmic reset ending.

Archie Sonic Online (Pre-SGW):
Sonic the Hedgehog Online
- A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Metal Sonic has begun to show shades of this after being upgraded, despite Eggman’s dismissal of the possibility. Despite being told that retrieving Mecha Sally is his top priority and destroying her is a last resort, he still classifies Sonic as his number one priority and orders Mecha Sally to self destruct the first chance he gets in order to make Sonic suffer.
- Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Eggman appears to do this when Sonic corners him, but this is just a ruse so he can release Emerl and make him attack Sonic.
- The Atoner: In Issue #248, Cream insists on distracting Tails Doll and acting as a decoy to draw it out, wanting to make up for the fact that she was the one who brought it into New Mobotropolis in the first place.
- Attack Its Weak Point: Team Freedom realizes that the red gem is the Tails Doll’s weak point, and act accordingly.
- Badass Adorable: As per usual, Amy is this, fighting Emerl all by her lonesome. Cream as well, as she manages to distract the Tails Doll so Team Freedom could defeat it.
- Breather Episode: After issues of hectic action, "Turning Point" of #250 focuses on everyone embracing Sally's return and Sally readjusting to her freedom.
- Break Them by Talking:
- Mecha Sally counters Sonic's vow to save her by reminding him of the times he failed to do just that. The first two weren't even his fault while the third was a tragic oversight. Still, it was enough to make Sonic hesitate long enough for Mecha Sally to land a cheap shot.
- After being deroboticized, Sally ends up on the receiving end by Naugus (in Geoffrey's body) crudely who reminds her about how she was once Eggman's personal attack dog, attempted to kill Sonic multiple times, and indirectly put Antoine in a coma. This drives her to tears and upsets Sonic.
- …But He Sounds Handsome: In Issue #250, Naugus spares no words praising himself to Sonic while possessing Geoffrey, gloating that he's the true king and has given far greater protection and stability than the Kingdom of Acorn ever could, and insisting both he/Geoffrey and Sonic should be proud to serve him. Naugus is subsequently left visibly irked when Sonic bluntly states he can't serve a king who only serves himself.
- Call-Back: As to be expected, this continuation shares the original comics' habit of referencing past events and dating the issue numbers.
- Conscious While Possessed:
- After being restored, Sally reveals that she was aware of all of her actions as Mecha Sally, but she was powerless to do anything about it.
- Geoffrey is still conscious whilst Naugus is possessing him. It is not a pleasant experience for him, as he is hurt watching Naugus mock Sally by bringing up her actions as Mecha Sally and begs him not to hurt Antoine. When he sees Hershey, whom he had thought was dead, it is enough for him to briefly regain control of his body, although it isn't long before Naugus once again takes over and he is put out of commission until Naugus finally leaves his body.
- Continuity Cavalcade: A dark version. Mecha Sally taunts Sonic by reminding him of all the times he has failed Sally, referencing the Mecha Madness Arc, the Endgame Arc, and the lead-up to her own creation. She then further taunts him with all the allies who have previously died under his watch, such as Nate Morgan, Tommy Turtle, and Sir Connery.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Metal Sonic was absolutely no match for Naugus' powers, even without him using his machine-controlling crystal magic. Sonic, who was busy with Mecha Sally, was more than happy to let "Geoffrey" assist since he isn't exactly in a position to refuse help. Unfortunately, Naugus' mutations start acting up and he had to quickly leave to prevent anyone else from seeing them, leaving Metal Sonic free to continue attacking Sonic until he initiates Mecha Sally's self-destruct sequence.
- Damsel in Distress: At the end of Issue #251, Naugus uses Geoffrey's body to kidnap Hershey, threatening to kill her using her husband's body if New Mobotropolis's citizens don't bow to him.
- De-power: When Elias uses the Sword of Light to cure Naugus of his unstable condition, he also takes away the sorcerer’s powers.
- Designated Girl Fight: Averted. When New Mobotropolis is under attack in Issue #249, Amy fights Metal Sonic and Emerl (while technically genderless robots, both are usually considered to be male) while Sonic deals with the female Mecha Sally.
- Dramatic Irony: Issue #251, the Secret Freedom Fighters discuss the possibility of assassinating Naugus and framing it on Geoffrey, unaware that at this point, they've become one and the same.
- Forgotten Fallen Friend: Subverted with T-Pup. In Issue #249, he gets broken by Mecha Sally, and nobody, not even Tails, seems to care. In the next issue, however, he turns up fixed by Tails and Rotor.
- The Gloves Come Off: For obvious reasons, Sonic is reluctant to fight Mecha Sally. But when his robotic former lover is about to shoot Cream, he straight up decks her across the face. Taken even further when she is seconds away from exploding and about to shoot him point-blank. He gives her a vicious headbutt, severely damages her with a barrage of spin-dashes, and plows her into the ground.
- Grand Theft Me: Ixis Naugus is still in possession of Geoffrey St. John's body, as seen in Issue #249. However, the spell seems to be wearing off, and Naugus's form is still breaking down.
- Headbutt of Love: Sonic and Sally, at the end of Issue #249. Although he had given her a literal headbutt in her roboticized form immediately before this.
- Heel Realization: In Issue #254, Hamlin admits that, while the Secret Freedom Fighters and Nicole did technically commit treason with their actions, the reason they did so was because of the Council being compromised by Naugus, and that they risk falling into the trap of thinking themselves infallible like the old monarchy. He also states that, while he still believes he was right in his previous criticisms of Sally, he could have been less brazen and confrontational about it and that his attitude back then ultimately just made it unnecessarily harder for both the Council and the Freedom Fighters to serve the needs of the people.
- If I Can't Have You…: Dr. Eggman gives Metal Sonic permission to destroy Mecha Sally if he is unable to retrieve her.
- It Only Works Once: In Issue #247, Sonic was about to be shot point-blank by Mecha Sally while he was grappling with her, and was only saved by Tails' timely intervention. When Mecha Sally later tries the exact same thing again during their final battle, Sonic saves himself by headbutting the laser.
- It's All My Fault: Cream blames herself for Tails Doll destroying New Mobotropolis by bringing it there.
- Morality Adjustment: For Sonic. Although he’s definitely still the same cocky, wise-cracking hero he’s always been, it’s clear that the events of the Mecha Sally arc have mellowed his personality somewhat, and he actively places the well-being of his friends above simply rushing into the next big fight.
- Mythology Gag:
- Big ends up being instrumental in defeating the mutated Tails Doll by removing its power source with his fishing rod. He comments upon the experience, stating that "Fishing inside monsters is weird."
- Eggman's dialogue from yelling at a seemingly inactive Emerl mirrors that from his debut game.
- Naugus considering crystallizing Metal Sonic for his own purposes is a nod to the Eggman's Dozen story arc from Sonic Universe, where Metal Sonic was indeed crystallized by him and his sister.
- Julie-Su's pose in her Data File mirrors that of her pose from the beta cover of StH #244 (as shown here◊).
- Not Quite Dead: Hershey reveals herself to be alive and well in Issue #251, despite Geoffrey and everyone else's beliefs that she died.
- OOC Is Serious Business: Sonic's expression throughout the final leg of his fight between him and Mecha Sally is pure desperation. Case in point? Sonic is seen crying. No wit. No attitude. Only tears.
- One-Winged Angel: Naugus transforms into a mutated fusion of himself, Geoffrey, and the three wizards he was formed from during the Redemption arc, dubbed Ugly Geoffrey.
- Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: Naugus-in-Geoffrey St. John's body tries to imitate the British accent and mannerisms of his possessee, but does a really poor job of it.
- Original Flavour: The comic tries to stick as closely to the style and format of the official comic series as possible, even featuring an editorial page at the end of each issue in the style of the old ones.
- Power Copying:
- Just like in his debut game, Emerl can copy his opponents' moves. Sonic dismisses it as a rather lame power at first, but when Emerl hits him with a spin-dash move, he quickly reconsiders his first assessment.
- Metal Sonic also copies Ixis Naugus' magic abilities after freeing himself from the wizard's ice prison in Issue #249.
- Power of Love: Seeing Hershey alive again gives Geoffrey just enough strength to temporarily break free from Naugus' control and warn her about his compromised position.
- Red Herring Twist: With Sally deroboticized through other means, it seems that making use of Naugus's ability to turn robotic limbs into flesh and blood is this.
- Retcon:
- The events of Sonic Universe Issue #50, prior to Worlds Collide, will be considered non-canon as that crossover only came about to enact the Cosmic Retcon.
- With the Endangered Species arc being re-imagined for this continuation, Sonic and Shard never meet until Issue #252, and the latter never considered using the Krudzu to deroboticize Mecha Sally, explaining the need for the Bio-Analyzer.
- Since the events of Worlds Collide didn't happen in the continuity, there is no mention of Dr. Wily or any indication of his and Eggman's plans together.
- Running Gag: Cubot's voice still isn't working properly, and each issue has him switch to a different accent.
- #248: German.

- Shout-Out:
- The site header is done in the style of Sonic Runners.
- StHO #248's Off-Panel has a cameo from Wolvurkel, last seen way back in StH #8.
- Silence Is Golden: The last five pages of Issue #249, in which Sonic defeats Mecha Sally and returns her to normal, play out with no dialogue whatsoever (with the exception of Sonic saying "Please...").
- Spanner in the Works: Hershey's return in Issue #251 appears to be this as it snapped Geoffrey out of his control long enough to force Naugus to reveal himself. This will likely disrupt everyone's plans including the Secret Freedom Fighters.
- Take a Third Option: The official comic hinted at Sally's deroboticization being possible through two different ways, namely Naugus' magic and the Krudzu Hybrid Hydra. Archie Sonic Online uses neither, as the key to restoring Sally is ultimately a newly-introduced "Bio-Analyzer" that was salvaged from Eggman's World Roboticizer.
- Taking You with Me: In Issue #249, Metal Sonic triggers Mecha Sally's self-destruct sequence. In the middle of the countdown, Mecha Sally laments to Sonic about how he's going to be with her again...in death. Luckily, an emotionally distraught Sonic manages to incapacitate and deroboticize her in less than 10 seconds.
- Tears of Joy: Sonic, once Sally is deroboticized.
- Transformation of the Possessed: Naugus-in-Geoffrey St. John's body involuntary starts to revert to his old form, much to his panic.
- Ungrateful Bastard: After Mecha Sally frees Metal Sonic from Silver's psychic grip, he immediately orders her to self-destruct so he can escape. Due to being a mindless robot, she takes no issue with this.
- Unspoken Plan Guarantee: Subverted. The plan Tails explains to deroboticize Sally ultimately does work, but not without heavy resistance from Metal Sonic, Emerl, and Mecha Sally herself.
- Use Your Head: When Mecha Sally tries to shoot Sonic point-blank with a laser installed in her head, he headbutts her so hard that the laser breaks. He's even shown to have a visible bruise afterward.
- Would Hurt a Child: Mecha Sally had no qualms about targeting Cream during her bout with Sonic. Thankfully, Sonic managed to hit Mecha Sally and save the young rabbit at the last second.
- Wham Shot: Issue #254 ends with Antoine waking up from his coma.

- Call-Back: A Zoneful of Zones has Sonic's name being called out, and written in logo form - much like the first 50 or so issues of the main series. This may or not be foreshadowing that the story is a prologue to one of those 50 or so issues (specifically issue 19).
- Canon Discontinuity: The Mobius Legends stories are non-canon to both the official comic and the fan continuation, being used as test drives for writers and artists and having an "anything goes" policy.
- Continuity Nod: At the beginning of Your First Chili Dog, Tails finishes telling Ray about a mission with the Sand Blasters that took place previously in the official comic.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: In Cornered, Thrash was absolutely no match for Finitevus.
- Dead Person Impersonation: Scourge turns out to be doing this for Sonic in Lying.
- Double-Meaning Title: Lying both refers to Sally hiding her Dead Sparks with Sonic after his return in StH #130 and Scourge lying to everyone by pretending Sonic survived the fight with the Xorda.
- Dying Alone: Dimitri's Log has him left in a box to rust, so he gathers his thoughts on his actions in the official comic as he powers down. Subverted in the end, as he's found by Sonic a week later.
- End-of-Series Awareness: The Off-Panel for #5 has Sonic demanding to know who's responsible for letting him not be a main character in any of the issues. After figuring out it was Eggman's fault, Sonic gets the series canned, continuing the "And then [X] was cancelled forever" joke... except this time it actually worked.
- For the Evulz: Metal Sonic is given free will to make any decision he wants in New Domination, but still wants to complete his original programming of killing Sonic for his own satisfaction.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: Blaze and Elise act this way towards each other in Trigger.
- Hidden Depths:
- In A Maiden's Heart, Amy's relationship with Sally is given a more in-depth explanation than in the official comic.
- Rouge also shows the ability to pick apart Fiona's unhealthy relationship with Scourge in Regrets.
- How We Got Here: A Zoneful of Zones turns out to be the events that led Scourge (then Evil Sonic) to be in StH #19.
- Manipulative Bastard: Mephiles tries to be this to Shadow in Disturbed.
- Mind Screw: One of the themes of "Don't Forget" is the effects that his temporal adventures have had on Silver's mind, as he's briefly partnered up with figments of all of his partners from different continuities and realizes to his horror that he can't remember all of them properly.
- Oh, Crap!:
- Zonic has one of these upon first realizing the effects of the Super Genesis Wave in A Prelude.
- Breezie freaks out when she solves LJ's puzzle and has another moment when Pseudo-Sonic sees her escaping during Reckoning.
- Retraux: The cover for A Zoneful of Zones (and the overall cover for ML #4) was modeled in the same way the covers for the Sonic Archives were.
- Cornered was drawn entirely in black and white save for flashbacks, which were in sepia instead.
- Riddle Me This: In Reckoning, Breezie figures out the note Eggman gave to LJ is one of these. Unfortunately for her, the solution is "Defectors must die".
- Self-Made Orphan: In Protogegg, the girl who would become Eggette freezes her parents alive for being too "cowardly" to kill Mobians.
- Shot-for-Shot Remake: The test story Invaders From Beyond is drawn almost identically to a short adaptation of Sonic Chronicles that was scrapped from the official comic.
- Suspiciously Specific Denial: When Evil Sonic encounters a Zone Cop in A Zoneful of Zones, the first thing he says is "I swear, the chili dogs were gone when I got there!"
- Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: Protogegg has Eggman notice an Overlander girl who isn't terrified of being enslaved, nor shows any reaction to the possibility of her parents falling to that same fate. His interest piques when she calls them idiots and chastises them for not hating Mobians enough as she does.
Sonic Universe Online
- Ascended Extra: Scarlett O'Fenn was originally a background character designed by Ben Bates that appeared in a single panel of Sonic The Hedgehog #218, but the team liked the design so much that they decided to turn her into a full-fledged character.
- A Day in the Limelight: Much like before, Sonic Universe Online is this to certain characters.
- Rabbot Rebound focuses on Bunnie D’Coolette, following up on Chaotix Quest's Sequel Hook.
- Flames of Rebellion focuses on Blaze, after she supported Team Rose in Treasure Team Tango. It also features Marine, plus Miles and O'Knux from Moebius.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: Miles uses the Anarchy Beryl to brainwash Marine and Boomer into fighting for him.
- Break the Badass: Sally’s roboticization and Antoine’s hospitalization have left Bunnie thoroughly hollowed by the time she is introduced in Issue #51, to the point where even being captured by Jack with the threat of torture and execution barely phases her.
- Disc-One Final Boss: The Sand-Blasters are dealt with two-thirds of the way through Rabbot Rebound, with Jun Kun being the final threat Bunnie faces in the arc.
- The Dog Bites Back: In Issue #50, Robotnik is ultimately defeated because a roboticized Dingo snaps under a torrent of abuse and hurls Robotnik into his own roboticizer.
- Even Evil Has Standards: Jack and his Sand Blasters are visibly disturbed when Bunnie nonchalantly asks how they plan to torture her while she's their prisoner.
- Fully Absorbed Finale: Issue #50 is this for the unconcluded Sonic Underground.
- Gadgeteer Genius: Marine fixes up her own interdimensional portal from scrapped Zone Cop equipment, bypassing the need to use the Cosmic Interstate.
- Heel–Face Brainwashing: Implied. Robotnik is roboticized. He's last seen with Dingo trying to redeem themselves. Though the fact that he wasn't de-roboticized unlike everyone else pretty much states that it's better for everyone that he doesn't return to his human self.
- Heel Realization: In issue #52, Bunnie has this when she realizes that by regaining her cybernetics, she now works for her worst enemy.
- Karmic Death: In a sense, Robotnik's fate in Issue #50. He verbally berates and physically abuses the roboticized Dingo, then threatens to kill by triggering his self-destruct; Robo-Dingo promptly grabs Robotnik, throws him into his own roboticizer, and activates it, transforming Robotnik into a docile robot who is last seen serving chili dogs from Dingo's new mobile restaurant. For added Lampshade Hanging and Foreshadowing, as Robotnik is beating on Dingo at first, he notes that Dingo's status as a mutant means he "can't even be roboticized properly", which turns out to mean that the loyalty programming didn't take.
- Later-Installment Weirdness: Rabbot Rebound consists of three issues instead of the standard four. This is due to the story arc naturally fitting into three issues rather than four. It's been hinted that future arcs will be shorter or longer than four parts as well.
- Masculine–Feminine Gay Couple: Issue #52 has one with Scarlett O'Fenn and Holly the Snow Leopard.
- Mayor Pain: According to Scarlett, not everyone approves of the way Jack Rabbit runs Sand Blast City, describing his rule as driving the city into the ground.
- Meaningful Name: Lesath, a scorpion, is named after the star of the same name, which rests in the constellation Scorpius.
- Mistaken for Flirting: In Issue #54, Blaze asks who she assumes is the Moebius version of Omega if her display of power is impressive, Buns pops out of her armor and says she doesn't swing that way. Blaze is left embarrassed and flustered, wondering if the Omega she knew was a rabbit too.
- Musical Assassin: Queen Aleena in Issue #50 is shown to complete the Magic Music band motif with her children; her counterpart to their instrument-medallions is a magical wand that doubles as a microphone, which effectively makes her the lead singer of their band.
- Mythology Gag:
- The legionnaires in Rabbot Rebound are shown without their trademark hoods. This also happened with Chaotix Quest, where they were shown like that due to the concept of the Dark Legion
already being trademarked at the time. - The background of #52's cover is that of Mirage Saloon, fitting the Western setting of Rabbot Rebound.
- The name of Jack's prison guard, Scarlett O’Fenn, is a reference to the fact that Bunnie’s true name was at one point planned to be “Scarlett O'Hare”.
- In Issue #50, Manic's Super Mode is a bright pink-purple color, reminiscent of Hyper Knuckles from Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
- Issue #54 features a Moebius version of Rouge who is a carpenter named Nails, which was the name of a prototype version of Rouge during Sonic Adventure 2's development.
- The legionnaires in Rabbot Rebound are shown without their trademark hoods. This also happened with Chaotix Quest, where they were shown like that due to the concept of the Dark Legion
- Original Character: Lesath, Scarlett, Holly, and Meifeng were all made exclusively for Sonic Universe Online (although Scarlett was based on a background character that appeared in the official comic).
- Revenge Before Reason: Bunnie is so determined to avenge Antoine and Sally’s fates that she agrees to an excruciatingly painful legionization surgery without a hint of hesitation. Her uncle Beau tries to warn her that this is an incredibly stupid idea since all of the legionnaires have bombs in their cybernetics, but nothing he says can make her even consider changing her mind.
- Sealed Evil in a Can: Sleet ends up being sealed in Sonia's amulet after trying to use it after they had already passed their limit. Dingo does offer to let him out after reforming, but he refuses.
- Theme Music Power-Up: Literally! In the tradition of Sonic Underground, issue 50 climaxes with a musical performance from the triplets — except this time, they're playing the show's theme song as Super Sonic, Super Sonia, and Super Manic.
- World-Healing Wave: In Issue #50, the triplets playing their Magic Music whilst in Super Mode sends a wave of healing energies across Mobius that deactivates the Swatbots, tears down Robotnik's monuments, and frees the Robians. It's unclear if it directly undoes the roboticization or simply restores their free will, but either way, it ends Robotnik's grip on the planet in one swoop.
Knuckles: Endangered Species
- Advertised Extra:
- Gae-Na is featured prominently on the cover for the first issue, and while she is the one who defeats Amy at the beginning of the story, she is barely seen again after that.
- Thrash and his Devil Dog army also appear on the cover, but Thrash only appears in two scenes (including the last one), while only two Devil Dogs appear to aid him on the last page.
- Armor-Piercing Question:
- When Lien-Da claims the Dark Egg Legion can't leave Eggman's rule, Tails, to everyone's surprise, drops the bombshell that the reason they can't leave is that Eggman rigged their cybernetics with explosives as a security measure. This causes panic and self-doubt among the Legionnaires.
- When Lien-Da tells Remington that every bad thing she has done was for the sake of her people, Remington asks everyone around them to close their eyes if they've never lost anyone they loved because of Lien-Da and Eggman, and not one eye closes. Lien-Da looks shocked at the citizens and her own minions glaring at her; too bad it doesn't last.
- The Bad Guy Wins: While Thrash is defeated and pulls a Heel–Face Turn by the end of the arc, it's actually Dr. Finitevus who gets the most gain out of its events. In particular, he manages to obtain Thrash's gene bomb for his own plans.
- Badass Adorable: Not only does Saffron take out some legionnaires, but she is the one that has the honor of destroying Metal Knuckles. Julie-Su also counts as this, as usual.
- Badass Normal: The citizens of Albion take up arms to help the Chaotix. Wynmacher is also the one that defeats Lien-Da.
- Bittersweet Ending: The comic ends on a much happier note than the original. The Dark Legion finally reunites with rest of the Echidna race, Thrash has committed a Heel–Face Turn, and the entire Chaotix are reunited at the end. However, as Knuckles notes, a number of plot threads are left dangling: Dr. Finitevus has stolen Thrash’s gene bomb, the Dark Legion needs to find a way to remove/deactivate their bombs before Eggman learns of their failure while Lien-Da is scheming to regain her power, and the final scene has Thrash return home to find that his grandmother has passed away, truly leaving him as the Last of His Kind.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: The story begins where Issue #243 left off, with Metal Knuckles knocking out Sonic with one blow. He then similarly dispatches Tails, while Remington and Amy are both quickly zapped into submission by Lien-Da and Gae-Na, respectively.
- Deadpan Snarker: Julie-Su makes quite a handful of zingers in issue 1. Sonic is also this, obviously.
- Disc-One Final Boss: Lien-Da and her Dark Egg Legion chapter are defeated within the first issue of the miniseries (and, if bringing StH #243 into the equation, the end of the arc's first half) to make way for the true Big Bad of the story arc - Thrash the Tasmanian Devil.
- Earn Your Happy Ending: The arc ends with Knuckles finally facing his family again and being forgiven by his people for all the trouble he caused as Enerjak, to his immense relief.
- Enemy Mine: The cover of #2 implies that the Dark Egg Legion will have to team up with their enemies in order to fight Thrash and his Devil Dog army. In the issue itself, they do indeed work together to escape from Albion before Thrash's gene bomb explodes.
- Fix Fic: The entire existence of this mini-series stems from the author's goal to remake StH #244-246, which were all massively altered due to... less-than-pleasant circumstances.
- Funny Background Event: As Knuckles and Julie-Su go over their plan to liberate Team Fighters and the rest of their kind, Crystal-La clearly struggles with using a blaster, much to Komi-Ko's exasperation.
- My Greatest Failure: Saffron still hasn't gotten over the destruction of the Golden Hive Colony and the permanent damage to Charmy's mind. So much as looking at how the Echidnas might suffer a similar fate pushes her Trauma Button.
- New Powers as the Plot Demands: Knuckles demonstrates how much practice he has had controlling Chaos Energy by attacking Syntar with a Warp Ring.
- Oh, Crap!: The general reaction to everyone present at the time, enemy and ally alike, when Tails lets slip that Eggman has placed bombs inside all of his legionnaires.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Remington gives a brutal one to Lien-Da over how awful of a leader she is, and how she is ultimately nothing more than a spoiled and vindictive child. Julie-Su joins in at the end, explaining why their father, Luger, loved her more than Lien-Da, telling her she cared about nothing but power. By the end of it, Lien-Da is left in tears.
- Theme Naming: Much like the published version of the arc, the title of each chapter are phrases relating to actual endangered species: "In Captivity", "Habitat Destruction", and "Preservation".
- Villainous Breakdown: Lien-Da goes through this when Tails and Remington humiliate and discredit her in front of her minions and Julie-Su destroys the generator keeping them prisoner. She has an even bigger one at the end when Team Freedom reveals they’ve destroyed all of the Dark Legion’s weapons and she realizes Eggman will almost certainly execute the entire Legion for their failure. Taken even further when Remington and Julie-Su verbally destroy her, leaving her in tears.

Sonic The Hedgehog Restored
- Adaptation Expansion: Due to the comics being cancelled after Sonic the Hedgehog #290, the next few subsequent issues that were left unfinished with various parts being left undone like the dialogue and plot were filled in by the writers at ASR. One example, in issue #292, after the original page sketches were inked and colored for the first half of the issue, the ASR team created additional pages to fill a new narrative going forward.
- Named by the Adaptation: In the original comic, Sally’s mother was unnamed and even her original universe name of Alicia wasn’t a certainty seeing as the name of Sally’s father changed from Maximillian Acorn to Nigel Acorn after the SGW. Here, it’s revealed to be Marianne.
- Wham Shot: Issue 292 features a scene where Dr. Julian Snively is revealed to be in possession of the Phantom Ruby while indicating he has plans for it.
Sonic Universe Restored
- Adaptation Expansion: Due to the comics being cancelled after Sonic Universe #94, the next few subsequent issues that were left unfinished with various parts being left undone like the dialogue and plot were filled in by the writers at ASR. When the real Issue #95 was revealed, the old fan-made version was replaced with it on various sites, but some sites retain the other version and treat that as canon to the ASR timeline..
- Orwellian Retcon: The whole of Issue #95 was replaced on December 2025 with the official finished version that was left unreleased due to the cancellation. Said fan recreation is still available online on other websites.
- Wham Episode: As Bunnie discovers in Sonic Universe #96, her family originated from the Sol Dimension, aka Blaze and Marine's home universe.
