The Innocent is a Web Original Trilogy of EAS Scenarios by Vijfsnippervijf that depict children across the world, starting in the Netherlands, organizing to take over their families and other adults, and eventually force the national governments of various countries to surrender to the children and create a world ruled by children in which adults are forced to work for the children.
The original trilogy was released in Feburary 2021.
This trilogy has had a remake a year after its original release. Both trilogies can be found here
in a single playlist.
Beware of the following tropes that are present in both versions of this work:
- Adult Hater: The children hate adults, and especially adult authority, to the point of wanting to enslave all adults in their child-led world.
- Asshole Victim: The adults at first had the children work for them, denying them any playtime. The children take revenge by forcing the adults to work for them, giving them time to play.
- Child Soldiers: The children are not just child soldiers in an adult-led army, but the aggressors in the war against the adults. They go beyond traditional weaponry to use psychological manipulation, cyber attacks and (in the remake) humanoid robots against the adults.
- Creepy Child:
- Among many other tactics, the children kidnap and use psychological manipulation against the adults.
- The juxtaposition between playfulness and brutalities can easily be seen where the children hijack the EAS systems to taunt the adults:
- Drake Bergen (after having hijacked the NL-Alert): Hahaha! All adults will be taken away by the children! You can go nowhere to escape us! We're everywhere! Hahahaha!
- Paul-Jr (after having hijacked the US EAS): No! Hahaha! You cannot run away from us. One day, we are everywhere. There is no way to escape from us, the children
- Death from Above:
- Both versions feature a bombing of the cities of Rotterdam, Antwerp and Washington DC, and sent bombers to Berlin and Duisburg. In both, the children also send rockets with a chemical agent to Czechia and Saudi Arabia, and nuke the Australian desert and Indonesia.
- In the original, the children send airplanes into the World Trade Center in New York and send bombers to Milan.
- In the remake, there is a warning of the City Office in Utrecht collapsing which leads to the city center being evacuated. As well, the children throw rockets onto Vire, Lyon, Napels, Adria, Madrid and Barcelona.
- Decapitation Strike:
- Despite a relocation, the kidnapping of the King of Saudi Arabia has been confirmed. In addition, the same alert implies that heads of state are being mastered by children all over the world.
- The remake has been more specific about this. In it, the following have been confirmed kidnapped or dead:
- The Mayor of the City of Utrecht;
- The Prime Minister of Belgium;
- The Mayor of the City of Milan;
- The Governor of the State of New York;
- The President and Vice-President of the US;
- The Emperor of Japan;
- The King of Thailand;
- The President of South Korea;
- The King of Saudi Arabia.
- Subverted for the Netherlands: In the remake, children threaten to kill the Dutch Prime Minister if he doesn't sign the Agreements of Utrecht, which concerns the surrender of the Dutch government to the children. However, he did end up signing the agreements.
- Downer Ending: The children use all means available to take all power from adults and reduce them to mere slaves of the children.
- Earthquake Machine: A clone of SCP-291, which the children use to generate earthquakes in front of the coasts of Japan and France.
- Emergency Broadcast: Naturally the way in which this story is portrayed involves EAS systems from various countries.
- The End of the World as We Know It: The story ends with all adult authority having collapsed, the children taking all power from adults, and the adults being enslaved or killed.
- Enfant Terrible: Not only do these children assume total control over adults, they also use air bombardments, cyberattacks and anomalies to assist them.
- In the remake, this is taken a step further, as children also kidnap adults from the streets and use them to capture more adults into their ever-growing reign.
- Everything Is Online: Exploited by the children as they hack smart home devices (including locks), smartphones, game consoles, self-driving cars, emergency callcenters, drones and even public transit systems.
- In the remake, this extends to humanoid robots as well, which stage terror attacks and take adults away from streets without the owners knowing.
- Fountain of Youth: An agent that turns all adults over 50 years old into children is being delivered via missiles to Saudi Arabia from Thailand and Czechia from France by the children.
- From Bad to Worse: The war between children and adults starts as a local conflict in the city of Utrecht, then expands into a global threat.
- In the remake, this goes from missing children to a local coordination of child uprising all the way to global child rule.
- The Great Flood: The children break the dykes and dunes at Harlingen, causing a flood large enough to require evacuating the city.
- Drake: We broke the dykes to prevent your soldiers from invading the city.
- Kids Versus Adults: The children stage a war against the adults over not being able to play whenever they want to.
- Drake [Original trilogy, part 1]:Why do we have to work for you? Why can't we play? We rise up and you will have to work for us.
- Made a Slave: The children force all adults to work for them, under the threat of death.
- Police Are Useless:
- US EAS: The 911 phone number is no longer available
- From the remake:
- NL-Alert: Two police officers were shot by a TESLA Bot.
- NL-Alert: [As the children damaged the dykes and dunes around Harlingen] four officers were killed.
- In the original, a US alert stated that some areas have shut off 911 service due to the violence the children use against police officers.
- In general, very little specific mention is given to any police officers taking action against the children as they take over adults in their families and even kidnap adults from the streets. When in the remake, police does try to deal with the situation, they find themselves totally mastered by the children.
- Teenage Wasteland: The world gradually turns into this as the children take over their families, use adults as slaves or traps, force governments to surrender to them, and declare victory over adults.
- World War III: The O5 Council, the highest governing body of the SCP Foundation, has this to say about it:
- O5-1: World war 3 will be won by children.
- In the original, there were also mentions of the war between children and adults being this:
- In the beginning of Part 1, this is being discussed: card: Humanity has already had 2 World Wars, and was afraid of a third one for years. One often thinks of a war between countries, like America, Russia, North Korea and Saudi Arabia. But what we don't think about are children who take over the world.
- In the end of part 1, a title card states that "World War 3 has truly begun."
- Wouldn't Hurt a Child: The SCP Foundation. Even as the O5 council was made aware of one of the most infamous anomalies having been taken by children, as well as child spies in the Foundation, they ultimately decided not to take down the zeppelin that carried it to the United Kingdom, for there might be children onboard as well.
- Young Conqueror: The children, piece by piece, take over the adults' cities and countries, with them ultimately ruling the world.
In addition, the following tropes are present in the original 2021 trilogy:
- Early-Installment Weirdness: Due to the creator's lack of proper motion animation software and skills, the EAS screens are made using various different applications, including Scratch projects. This tends to manifest in white lines and softer footage from screen capture software.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Drake holds one directed towards adults at the very beginning of Part 1:
- ‘’’Drake’’’: Why do we have to work for you? Why can’t we play? We rise up and you will have to work for us. This way, we create a world in which we can play freely.
If a trope stands beyond this point, stay calm. It is only present in the 2022 remake of the EAS scenario.
- Breeding Slave: Implied. The children force the Dutch Prime Minister to sign the 'Agreements of Utrecht', which stipulates the surrender of the Dutch government. In it, the children grant themselves the right to 'unlimited labor and reproductive access to all adults residing in the Netherlands.
- La Résistance: A 'Resistance Unit' in the US trying to fight against the children taking over the US. However, a false nuclear attack warning from the children caused the Unit to break up very quickly.
- Missing Child: The beginning of the story. In the city of Utrecht, there is a "wave" of these, with many of them coming from the same street and going missing at the same hour. It is later revealed that the children are actually not in danger, rather plotting how to take over the city.
- Robot Soldier: The children use these to stage various terrorist attacks across the world, including the placement of bombs in and around the City Hall of Utrecht and an arson attack against an oil refinery.
- They are also used to kidnap adults from the streets, and they even take down police officers.
- Rule of Three: France, the UK and Spain form an alliance against the children's rise to power. However, eventually the children were able to force all of them to surrender to them.
