Speedduo64
is a series of Found Footage-style videos by the artist ShutUpJojo
of Needlem0use fame, serving as an alternate take for the Sonic.exe mythos and is the first installment of Love's Crafts.
The story tells about a Sonic fangame from 2002 called "Sonic Chaos Incarnate". While at first seems like a typical early fangame from that era, but with each footage, there's something hidden in this fangame in the form of souls tortured by a being called S0NIC.
Episodes so far:
Canon:
- Sonic Chaos Incarnate intro (2002 sonic fan game)
- good_doctor.mp4
- hallway.mp4
- sleepwalkers.mp4
Non-canon:
- forbearance.mp4
This series provides examples of:
- Adapted Out: Sarah Henderson is completely absent from the series.
- Ambiguous Situation: It is unknown if S0NIC is a vengeful human torturing their friends like in the original Needlem0use or if it's an entity that hijacked the fangame and captured the developers' souls.
- Bait-and-Switch: During the first video, when it seems like S0NIC would say the iconic "I Am God" text from the original creepypasta, they instead spells out "I Am Me" instead.
- Big Bad: The main villain from the series is a being called S0NIC who tortures the souls inside the characters from the fangame and is possibly responsible for Kyle's deaths.
- Big Good: On the opposite end, a white-skinned, perpetually-frowning Sonic, is actively working to free the souls of the developers and allow them passage to the afterlife. This Sonic has the soul of Tom inside, who started acting after hearing the voice of Del encourage him to do so.
- Continuity Reboot: This series is meant to be a reboot of Needlem0use after the artist's disillusionment with the series, without the elements known about it shown in the end of Season 1 and the entirety of Season 2.
- Sapient Eat Sapient: During the third video, after catching up Michelle/Knuckles when she was exploring a level and running from them, S0NIC starts to slowly eat up her body, even making some eating sounds before it was shown.
- Stylistic Suck: The in-universe fangame "Sonic Chaos Incarnate" that the story tells about has bad grammar and clunky assets to feel like an early 2000's fangame.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: If what Martin/Eggman said in the second video is true, the person playing the fangame ended up waking the tortured souls inside the fangame, making S0NIC continue the tortures, and implicitly have taken another life along the way in the ARG emails, specifically Tom..
