Davis Morgan is a YouTuber that focuses on horror literature and Internet horror. Most of his videos are straight analyses of horror books and stories, although he has a few videos that tell narrative stories of their own.

According to his videos, he is a cousin once removed of Stephenie Meyer.

His regular videos contain examples of:

• Brown Note: In "This is Where I Died | SCP-5999 Explained", Davis is afflicted with nosebleeds, insomnia, and headaches. Similarly to the people in-universe who share the story, he is experiencing adverse effects. At the end of the video, he is killed by the memetic agent.
• Dies Wide Open: At the end of "This is Where I Died | SCP-5999 Explained", Davis lies in corner of the room with eyes wide open after viewing the memetic agent.
• Double Take: In "Scary Chain Emails: The Original Creepypastas", Davis does this after reading some poor phrasing in one of the stories.
  Davis:: "'...Jessica's father invokedbricked up—' Excuse me?"
• Evil Counterpart: Jokingly invoked by Davis in his "Predicting Two Sentence Horror Stories" videos, where he claims to be competing against an unseen "Evil Davis." He keeps score of how many endings he correctly guesses, with every one he fails to predict scoring another point in Evil Davis's favor.
• The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: Davis is repeatedly afflicted with nosebleeds and headaches while reading "This is Where I Died", which foreshadows his death at the hands of the memetic agent.
• The Ghost: Evil Davis may not physically appear, but he almost always beats Davis at guessing the endings of two-sentence horror stories.
• Iconic Outfit: Parodied. While reading Born of Science: The Birth Of Jane the Killer, Davis notes that most iconic creepypasta outfits are really plain. He then switches to advertising a "Davis Morgan outfit" that consists of a black shirt and blue pants. He says it's the "signature style that everyone knows [him] by".
• The Insomniac: While reading "This is Where I Died", Davis says that he really should sleep, but is too invested in the story to stop.
• Lighter and Softer: Discussed in "Stop Sanitizing Horror For Kids," a video about how children's horror being made to be less "mature" is a bad thing.
• Psychic Nosebleed: Davis has a few (offscreen) nosebleeds as he reads "This is Where I Died", mirroring the adverse effects the stories have on those who hear them.
• Running Gag:
  • The first line of Sonic.exe is "I'm a Sonic fan, much like everyone else", which Davis has ran with, joking that everyone on Earth is also a Sonic fan when Sonic gets brought up.
  • Davis often mentions how Jeff the Killer (2011) described a "thing of bleach" during a climactic fight scene. He usually references it when something is phrased strangely.
  • In "A Literary Analysis of the Real Chuck E Cheese", Davis figures that people would tell him to not call it a literary analysis if all he did was proofread. So, he starts to make comparisons to To Kill a Mockingbird... even though the connections he made were completely nonsensical.
    Davis: I'm still not entirely sure what the author means by "the static feeling". [...] Very similar to the dizzy feeling that Scout feels in To Kill a Mockingbird when she rides the tire down to the Radley residence and hits the front door.
  • He will sometimes refer to Happy Appy as Happle Apple instead.
• Sitcom Arch-Nemesis:
  • Happy Appy (both the work and the titular character) has become this for Davis throughout his videos on the subject. Many of the comments he makes in said videos are about how much agony Happy Appy has caused him.
  • Evil Davis. Davis is extremely focused on beating him at guessing two-sentence horror stories, despite the fact that nothing bad ever happens when Evil Davis wins. It’s to the point that Davis considers Evil Davis’s victories the worst thing that could ever happen to him.
• Vocal Dissonance:
  • While critiquing Abandoned by Disney, Davis talks at length about how people reading the story must choose between a regular threatening voice or a Mickey Mouse voice when voicing the inverted Mickey, before revealing that the story enforces the latter option.
  • He notes that the horror in Sonic.exe is slightly invokedundermined by the fact that Sonic the Hedgehog's voice isn't particularly frightening.

His "5naf Series" videos contain examples of:

• All There in the Manual: Explanations for his "in-universe" videos can only be found in their descriptions.
• Alternate Universe: His 5NAF videos take place in a world much like our own, albeit with many things being known by different names (e.g. American elementary school being called "primary school," much like it is in Great Britain).
• Big Brother Bully: Greg in the first book. He's consistently rude to his brother David and gives him a scare with the Chica costume.
• Fan Nicknameinvoked:
  • The "Five Nights at Freddy's" book series is shortened to "5NAF" by its fans (as opposed to FNAF, which is used in real life).
  • Averted in the case of Yellow Bear, since "Golden Freddy" (itself a fan nickname) was never coined in this universe.
• Fictional Counterpart: MeTube is the counterpart to YouTube in "5NAF Retrospective: A Hidden Gem of Children's Horror". It's pretty similar, but there are some small differences (the star rating system still exists, the reply section is above the video, and the staff is known to be extremely prompt and helpful).
• Framing Device: The "Five Nights at Freddy's" book exists in an Alternate Universe, whose alternate history is sprinkled throughout Davis's video.
• Lighter and Softer: Much as in his "Stop Sanitizing Horror For Kids" video, Davis complains about the sanitization of the "Goosebumps" video games in "5NAF Retrospective: A Hidden Gem of Children's Horror."
• Misplaced Retribution: Mr. Patrick's lifelong dream was to own Freddy's Pizzeria, which was dashed when David's dad was hired to clean up the building, which meant that the state couldn't put the building up for auction. He blames both him and David for ruining his dream.
• Missing Mom: David's mom is not present in "Five Nights at Freddy's", and her absence is never explained. Davis speculates that this has something to do with Greg's Big Brother Bully tendencies, but apparently it never does get expanded upon for the rest of the series.
• No Name Given: David's dad is never named.
• Role Swap AU: Various franchises and companies have swapped roles.
  • Five Nights At Freddy's is a children's horror book series from the 90s, while Goosebumps is a famous children's horror video game series. However, in-universe, the Five Nights At Freddy's book series is considerably more obscure than Goosebumps is in reality.
  • Sega won the console wars instead of Nintendo, which is why they produce the Goosebumps games.
  • Fleischer Studios still exists and operates a well-known theme park called "Fleischerland." Disney is mentioned as a significantly more obscure company who unsuccessfully tried to copy Fleischerland's success with the now-defunct Disneyland.
• Sadist Teacher: Mr. Patrick is described as a caricature of a mean teacher, doing things like pop quizzes and keeping kids in during recess.
• Shout-Out: Pretty much all of the characters mentioned in "5NAF Retrospective: A Hidden Gem of Children's Horror" were named after Five Nights At Freddy's characters, except for Mr. Patrick, who is named after MatPat.
• The Un-Reveal: The disappearances of the children throughout Five Nights At Freddy's were done by a mysterious man that the reader hasn't seen before.
