It was originally going to have a big "movie" and sequel to the series' magnum opus, De_dust2, in 2013 titled ''Hacker's Wrath'', but the Kickstarter failed and the series was supposedly cancelled for good. However, it has since received a fan-made adaptation, Hacker's Wrath Tribute, which received approval from Wei.
Wei has since worked as a character animator, with credits in games such as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and God of War Ragnarök, which was the reason why he can only release shorts and outtakes and needed funding for Hacker's Wrath.
It's composed of five primary episodes of the aforementioned regular matches, consisting of:
- CS_mansion
- CS_assault
- De_dust
- De_Aztec
- De_dust2
A few additional shorts were made for it, including:
- Baletastic (a recreation of the infamous Christian Bale breakdown)
- Newbie's First Headshot (a De_dust2 outtake)
- Sniping Lesson With Camper (starring Newbie and Camper)
- Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Trailer
- Counter-Strike: Striker's Rampage (starring Striker)
- Newbie helps (a De_dust2 outtake)
- Target Practice with Newbie (starring Newbie)
- Dumbass gets punched in the face
The series provides examples of:
- The Ace: "FD God", based off the typical super-skilled players, is this for the Terrorists and is fittingly the creator's favourite. "SWAT" is this for the Counter-Terrorists.
- Ax-Crazy: "Killer" is based after the super aggressive tryhards, and is fittingly equipped with a devil motif.
- The Bad Guy Wins: There is no good or evil (except for Hacker, of which the Terrorists would team up with the Counter-Terrorists against him), but in the context of the game, the Terrorists are the villains, and they win by inflicting a Total Party Kill on the Counter-Terrorists in CS_assault and thanks to "Dumbass" in "De_dust2". (They also technically win in DE_dust as the Counter-Terrorists were unable to defuse the bomb, but the narrative counts it as a draw.)
- Better to Die than Be Killed: One of the Counter-Terrorists in CS_assault opts to grenade himself after getting kneecapped by a Terrorist. His ghost then taunts the Terrorist for not getting to kill him.
- Butt-Monkey: "Striker"'s character is based around the fact that he's always the first to die, which infuriates him to no end.
- Newbie is also one, but this is brought on by his terrible incompetence.
- Call-Back:
- SWAT no-selling a flashbang in DE_dust using his shades and then knifing his opponent is the exact same stunt pulled by the unnamed CT in CS_mansion.
- In DE_aztec, The Pro attempting to knife Dumbass only to be shot by his teammate Assassin is a recreation of a gag from CS_assault but with the teams flipped. In both cases, the target that caused the friendly-fire incident when two players attempt to attack them at the same time gets taken out by a Groin Attack afterward.
- Character Signature Song: Camper's is "Camper One More Time", and he's not modest about it.
- Cold Sniper: "Camper", who favors the AWP and is a fairly competent and very laid-back (to his detriment sometimes) player.
- "Assassin" is one too, who has Chilly Reception towards newbies.
- Color-Coded for Your Convenience: The Counter-Terrorists are all some shade of blue and the Terrorists are all black or grey, although "Killer" is a dark red and The Pro is a dark green in DE_dust2.
- Combat Breakdown: In "De_aztec", SWAT and FD God's battle have them shooting each other with their assault rifles first, then after running out of ammo, switched to their guns, then after running out of ammo again, they go hand-to-hand combat with each other.
- Cool Shades: The Ace "SWAT" has a stylish pair to emphasize his badassery. It also protects him from flashbangs as shown in "De_dust".
- The Ditz: The appropriately named "Dumbass", who is based off players who dick around rather than seriously play the game.
- "Newbie" is also one due to being so inexperienced.
- Early-Installment Weirdness: CS_mansion and CS_assault are both Nameless Narratives, with the players on both sides being referred to by their team and a number and lacking defined personalities. CS_mansion also has a markedly different art style and more cartoonish presentation than the rest of the series and also does not depict a full game in its narrative like the other videos. Furthermore, the intro of DE_aztec includes flashbacks to CS_assault and DE_dust but not CS_mansion, so it may well not be counted as part of the main series.
- Enemy Mine: In the cancelled Hacker's Wrath, the Counter-Terrorists and Terrorists were going to team up against Hacker and his Hackeroids.
- Establishing Character Moment: In "De_Aztec", each character is introduced with a close-up and quote.
- "The Pro", an average tryhard, grunts "I want my revenge!"
- "Dumbass", a ditzy lunatic, screams "AUGHWAHUWAHAAA!"
- "Assassin", a skilled sniper, says "Kill all newbies!"
- "Killer", a hardcore but not-too-bright tryhard, roars "I got ammo!"
- "Striker", a hot-shot, says "I'm fast as lightning!"
- "Lagger", who has an unplayably terrible connection, goes "Fucking Lagged!"
- "Freekill", a cocky and frustrated player, complains "I hate pop-ups!"
- "Psycho", a cowardly and cocky player, claims "MP5 is da best!"
- "SWAT", a proud badass, goes "Go Newgrounds!"
- "Camper", an incredibly patient and elusive sniper, whispers "It's time..."
- "Newbie", a newcomer who can barely play the game, complains "I can't shoot!"
- "FD God", the badass series mascot, yells "Flashdeck Rulz!"
- Gameplay and Story Segregation: In DE_dust:
- Killer forgets to buy ammo, leaving his Mac-10s completely empty. In the game, every gun comes fully loaded when bought, with the option to purchase extra ammo.
- The round ends in a draw when Freekill and Camper both manage to grenade themselves at the same time. However, because Camper had already planted the bomb, this would actually be counted as a win for the Terrorists by gameplay mechanics as eliminating the Terrorist team is, by itself, not a win condition for the Counter-Terrorists in the bomb defusal game mode; they have to prevent the bomb from being planted at all or successfully defuse it.note
- Gamer Chick: There was going to be a "Girl Gamer" in Hacker's Wrath.
- Groin Attack:
- In CS_assault, one of the Counter-Terrorists taunts a Terrorist for accidentally shooting his own teammate. Said Terrorist responds by shooting him in the nuts.
- In DE_aztec, Psycho kicks Dumbass straight in the balls before blowing his brains out.
- Lampshade Hanging: In "DE_Aztec", Killer asks "Anyone ever wonder how we could play and type at the same time?"
- One-Man Army:
- "FD God" gets most of the kills for the Terrorist team whenever he appears. "SWAT" also has the highest body-count among the Counter-Terrorists, though he doesn't stand out as much from the other CTs as FD God does from the other Terrorists.
- Of all people, Camper is this in DE_dust, single-handedly wiping out most of the Counter-Terrorist team while defending the bomb.
- In Striker's Rampage, "Striker" kills all the 6 Terrorists by himself.
- Player Archetypes: Each character introduced in DE_dust onwards is a parody of a stock player archetype you'd expect to encounter in a multiplayer FPS, reflected by their respective names.
- The Quiet One: Everyone is mostly voiceless and only infrequently talk via text (and the occasional in-game stock voice clip), but Camper stands out thanks to being a Cold Sniper and The Stoic.
- Real Men Wear Pink: One of the series badasses, Camper, loves the Britney Spears parody song "Camper One More Time" so much, he sings it aloud and micspams it when he's bored, which, as a camper, happens a lot.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: "Killer" sports a glowing one.
- The Rival: FD God and SWAT are equally skilled and on the opposing teams.
- Small Name, Big Ego: "The Pro" only THINKS he's a pro. He's actually just an average player. Although he does get to kill FD God in "De_dust2".
- The Stoic: Even when an unpinned grenade is laying next to him, Camper doesn't emote whatsoever.
