SAEKO: Giantess Dating Sim (Visual Novel)
Don't lie today.
"The rain was cold that night. I didn't see anyone on the street. The moon was bright that night. The streetlamps' shadows flickered in the puddles..."
Opening scene

SAEKO: Giantess Dating Sim is an indie horror visual novel developed by SAFE HAVN STUDIO, first released on May 30, 2025 for PC (via Steam, DLsite and Stove). A port to the Nintendo Switch is set to release on June 25, 2026 in Japan, with Serenity Forge releasing the game internationally on August 27, 2026.

The story opens with a young man named Rin wandering the city on a rainy night before his surroundings seem to grow. A university student named Saeko finds him and takes him to her apartment where he will have no other choice but to live in a desk with other shrunken individuals that Saeko has found. Rin becomes Saeko's supervisor and must come to terms with the dark truth of his position and choose who lives and who dies.

The game is split into three stages: daytime where Rin interacts with other little people and fulfills their requests, nighttime where he must interact with Saeko in a one-on-one conversation where one wrong answer could get him killed and midnight where he interacts with Saeko's phone, learning about the ongoings of the outside world. The game is not intended for the faint of heart and delves into many gross and sexual topics.

This game contains examples of:

  • Amnesiac Hero: Rin doesn't remember anything prior to waking up in front of Saeko. Turns out he has actually been with Saeko for much longer than is apparent and Saeko erased his memories so that he would come to detest her.
  • Black-and-Gray Morality: No one in SAEKO is a fully good person. At most some show admirable traits that are offset by their otherwise glaring flaws.
  • Bystander Syndrome: Not that they'd be able to do anything about it, but very few of the little people try to assist those chosen to be eaten by Saeko. Only Clara makes an attempt and it ends in her quick and painful death.
  • Death Seeker: Those who stay too long inside the desk are prone to becoming this and if Rin doesn’t feed them then and there they may go completely insane.
  • Eaten Alive: Saeko prefers to eat her victims whole, while they’re still alive. Disturbingly, she describes enjoying feeling her victim squirming in her digestive system. Rin can potentially fall to this same fate if he isn’t careful.
  • Happiness in Slavery: Chio ends up taking this stance on Saeko, she comes to find her too "innocent" and "magnanimous" to defy on top of being too powerful to resist.
  • Heel–Face Turn: It takes a while, but Rin is ultimately able to break through Saeko's sociopathic demeaner and make her atone for her crimes in the peace routes, either by killing her or by having her live as a shrunken human.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: The First-Episode Twist is that Saeko has been shrinking and collecting tiny people specifically to eat them. When questioned on why she simply states it's because they're delicious.
  • Jumping Off the Slippery Slope: Rin in the genocide route admits that he actually started to like feeding Saeko people in the penultimate day and in the following day is much more aggressive when confronted about her by Kazu. Akari is apparently familiar with this and admits that she drove Rin to a similar state prior to him losing his memories. Rin ends up becoming Saeko's partner at the end and they proceed to destroy the world as unstoppable giants.
  • Morality Pet: Rin is this to Saeko, she can't help but rein in her more psychotic tendencies around him and only kills him if he gets on her bad side.
  • Super Power Lottery: Saeko's ability to change the size of whatever she wishes has no known limits. She can reduce anyone into a dust mite or she could turn herself city-sized. She only doesn't use them to their fullest because she wants to still try living a regular-sized life.
  • The Sociopath: Saeko very clearly displays many signs of a real life sociopath. She can't relate to other girls on happy occasions, she finds excitement in torturing and killing those shrunk by her and she exerts her control over others through fear and brute strength via the size difference between her and her victims. She's not happy to be this way and she does have a conscience that tells her this is wrong but unless Rin confronts her on it she will simply continue her supernatural killing spree.
  • You Wake Up in a Room: After the title sequence all that Rin and the audience knows comes from waking up in front of Saeko and exploring the uncomfortably spacious drawer.
