1. Hyperlink Reloaded (Spamton NEO vs. Kris)

• Adaptational Badass: While Boyfriend dodges Chara's fast knife swings at him in the original mod, a special mention goes to him in the Chino's Animated video, where he has an actual Knife Fight with Chara at Super-Speed.
• Adaptational Wimp: In J-Bug's animation and SnowTheFox's mod, Boyfriend doesn't dodge like in the other versions nor he fights back like in the Chino's Animated video.
• Adapted Out: In most versions save for J-Bug's animation, Girlfriend is nowhere to be found.
• All There in the Manual: Chino's video has some extra information about what's happening, such as how BF is here (he teleported) and that the game is "half-crashed" due to it being set after the end of the Genocide run.
• After the End: The mod and its adaptations are set after the end of the Genocide run, where all of the rest of Undertale's cast have been wiped out by Chara, possibly even breaking reality itself.
• And Now for Someone Completely Different: In the SnowTheFox remake, you also play as Kris in the pixel art recreation of "Hyperlink Reloaded".
• Art Shift: In SnowTheFox's remake, the song starts with Undertale's colored overworld sprites, but then switches to the larger, black and white battle sprites, and then back again twice.
• Back Stab: Several times in Chino's animation, most notably when Boyfriend catches Chara off-guard by singing Megalovania and this distracts Chara enough for Boyfriend to hit them with their doppelganger.
• Berserk Button: Chara's is apparently the first four notes of Megalovania. Boyfriend uses this to get the drop on them in the Chino animation.
• Blade Spam: Chara does this against Boyfriend in "Chara vs BF Knife Fight" several times, and he does it right back.
• Blood Knight: Anyone else fighting Chara would be scared or at least intimated, but for Boyfriend, the prospect just fills him with DETERMINATION.
• Canon Immigrant: SnowTheFox's remake also features a song from Deltarune, specifically from Seek's Cool Deltarune Mod, being a pixel art recreation of "Hyperlink Reloaded", where Kris battles Spamton NEO in the SnowGrave Route.
• Cerebus Call-Back: Boyfriend's Game Over animation, showing his skeleton with blue balls while he drops the microphone, is generally a funny animation which, according to canon, can even be revived by Girlfriend through... certain means..., plus it's mostly done because of him just losing a rap battle. In J-Bug's animation and AnotherNormalPerson's recreation, that same skeleton is shown after Chara kills him with their knife, and the microphone that he drops to the floor is covered with blood, all while Chara makes their trademark eldritch laugh.
• Color-Coded for Your Convenience: In Chino's animation, Chara's magical attacks are black or red, and Boyfriend's are blue. The first time Boyfriend uses one, Chara is briefly caught off-guard because they were expecting blue attacks to be dodgeable by standing still.
• Controllable Helplessness: Metafictional version in Chino's animation: Chara pulls Boyfriend's SOUL out of his body, leaving it in a very tiny box. He can still move, but there's absolutely no room to avoid Chara's attacks.
• Darker and Edgier: Granted, it's far from the first time Boyfriend battles twisted, murderous characters before (in horror mods or otherwise), but even then, all of these versions of this mod are so dark that puts Sonic.exe to shame. There's little to no funny or lighthearted moments, and you're battling a dreaded bloodlusted being who basically killed almost everyone, can easily screw your mechanics, can come back to life thanks to their determination, and breaks the fourth wall. Also, this is one of those few times where Boyfriend actually dies.
• Dark Song, Lighter Bridge: The "Megalo Strike Back" remix is (appropriately) chaotic and sinister, with lots of intense and/or fast-paced parts... except for a short stretch near the end that sounds quiet, almost gentle, with the instrumental even featuring the same glockenspiel as "His Theme". Of course, it's immediately followed by a recreation of the "since when were you the one in control" Jumpscare.
• Deader than Dead: Likely what would've happened to Boyfriend and the Corruption if he hadn't decided to skedaddle, since he was being attacked as a ghost.
• Dead Hat Shot:
  • In the old version of the original mod, the background shows Sans' hoodie, Papyrus' scarf, either the former or the latter's bones, Undyne's spear, Asgore's trident, and Flowey's corpse.
  • In J-Bug's animation, only Boyfriend's bloody microphone falling to the floor is shown after he's killed.
• Death by Adaptation:
  • In the J-Bug animation, Chara presents themselves by slicing Frisk before starting the battle.
  • Both in that same animation, SnowTheFox's mod and Chino's Antimated video, Chara kills Boyfriend anyway.
• Deflector Shields: One of Boyfriend's few abilities he didn't take from Chara in Chino's animation; Chara ends up copying it from him instead.
• Dissonant Serenity: In J-Bug's animation, due to both being Fearless Fools, neither Girlfriend or Boyfriend react after Frisk gets killed before their very eyes, nor with their dead body laying on the floor.
• Doppelgänger Attack: One of Chara's powers in the Chino version, which boyfriend steals.
• Flash Step: Late into the Chino version of the fight (after the arena starts breaking down) Chara's parries of Boyfriend's attacks become so fast that the only evidence they're doing it is a very brief afterimage, making them look like they're standing still.
• Flynning: "Chara and BF Knife Fight" has this during the titular Knife Fight, with plenty of knife parrying.
• Glowing Eyes: In Chino's animation, Boyfriend gets glowing light blue eyes when he activates his Echo power.
• Having a Blast: The first attack Chara does that actually catches Boyfriend off-guard in Chino's animation is summoning a gigantic red knife that hits the floor and then explodes.
• Healing Shiv: One of Chara's more unusual "attacks" in the Chino video: Their Nightmare Face pops up over one of Boyfriend's knives and turns it green, making it heal them instead. Boyfriend steals this ability for his own by doing a blue Nightmare Face.
• Hopeless Boss Fight: Most of the versions are this, since Chara is so powerful that the fight is basically just a formality. Even when Boyfriend doesn't die, he doesn't win, either.
• Hypocrite: In the Chino version, Chara gets angry at Boyfriend for fighting like "HIM" (Sans) by dodging, but then immediately starts doing the same thing when they realize Boyfriend can fight back, and even does Sans' fake sparing trick later on!
• Indecisive Medium: In the animations, the characters dance in the same minimalistic way as in Friday Night Funkin (moving left, up, down, right) rather than attempting more elaborate moves, and in all but the Chino version, the interface from the game is also there. In the latter, health bars, menus and damage counters from Undertale pop up, too. And Chara uses their "Determination" power to save scum in several of the animations and remasters
• Interface Screw: The remake by SnowTheFox warns you on its GameBanana page that it will move your window around, though there is an option to disable it. The first time is when Chara points their knife at you, causing the screen to shake. And then, after Chara kills Boyfriend, they slash at the screen and the window violently shakes to the left and back before settling... and then it crashes.
• It Only Works Once: In the Chino's Animated video, the only real way to hit Chara is by doing something they don't expect or haven't seen Boyfriend do yet. Otherwise, they'll dodge it.
• Knife Fight: The rendition by Chino's Animated shows Chara and Boyfriend Mickey Mousing using knives (plus other elements such as clones and actual game mechanics).
• Know When to Fold 'Em: In the Chino version: After he dies, Boyfriend and the Corruption inside him (long story) glance at one another and wonder if they should retry... only for Chara to attack them in the Game Over screen, making Boyfriend decide to press the "Leave Game" button with only moments to spare.
• Mickey Mousing: Chara attacks Boyfriend to the beat of the song in almost all versions, and in the Chino's Animated video, the both have a Knife Fight while following the song in the same vein as the same creator's animations Vs Whitty Fire Fight and Matt vs Boyfriend Boxing Fight.
• Mythology Gag:
  • The remix of "Megalo Strike Back" featured in all of the mod's versions features the leitmotifs of MEGALOVANIA and Core/Another Medium, and a lighter bridge with the glockespiel of "His Theme".
  • When Boyfriend pulls out a blue knife to hit Chara, the latter stands still in spite of easily dodging it later, likely because, in Undertale, blue attacks only hurt if you're moving, but this doesn't apply to Boyfriend.
  • During the final parts of "Megalo Strike Back" in SnowTheFox's version, a text box appears that says Boyfriend tried to call for Girlfriend... but nobody came.
• Nonchalant Dodge: During the second half of Chino's animation, Boyfriend does this, dodging Chara's attacks with his hand on his pocket.
• Not His Sled: The various remakes and adaptations all have slightly different twists on the original, mostly notably the Chino version which is almost a completely original animation save for reusing "Megalo Strike Back" as a song. For instance, some of them have Chara kill you after they're done with Boyfriend, whereas the ending of Chino's animation actually has Boyfriend live (sort of). The fanmade remaster also doesn't end with Boyfriend dying in either song.
• Parrying Bullets: Boyfriend parries Chara's Storm of Blades using his own knife.
• Power Copying: Chino's version has Boyfriend do this, a power carried over from their previous animations. He needs to actually see Chara do something before he can copy it, though. When he does it, a little message with the word "ECHO" appears on the bottom of his side of the screen.
  • In the later parts of the song, Chara turns it around by copying Boyfriend's Deflector Shields.
• Public Domain Soundtrack: There's a little reference to the 3rd Movement of the Moonlight Sonata somewhere before the aformentioned Dark Song, Lighter Bridge part above.
• Reality Is Out to Lunch: The All There in the Manual explanation for why Chara doesn't kill Boyfriend in one hit is because, After the End of Undertale's Genocide Route, the game is in a crashed state where things don't work the way they used to.
• Shockwave Stomp: In Chino's animation, Chara can do this by hitting the ground with a knife.
• Shout-Out: In Chino's version of the fight, one of Chara's more rare attacks is telegraphed by boxes with exclamation marks that look exactly the same as the ones they used in Undertale: No More Deals, an Undertale fangame where the player fights Chara, where they served the same purpose.
• Spin Attack: Boyfriend does a jumping spin attack near the end of "Chara vs BF Knife Fight".
• Spontaneous Weapon Creation: Both Chara and Boyfriend can summon knifes out of thin air in "Chara vs BF Knife Fight".
• Storm of Blades: One of the many tricks in Chara's arsenal, which they use liberally in the Chino video.
• Sword Beam: Chara can do this in the Chino video as well.
• The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: Besides the examples taken from their appearance in Undertale, Chara also points their knife straight at the player in the fanmade remaster.
• Trauma Button: Chara apparently doesn't like being reminded of Sans.
• Truce Trickery: Chara pretending to Spare the Boyfriend in the penultimate section of Chino's video.
• Turns Red: While Chara's summoned knives are already all red, their main knife becomes red whenever they're doing a very strong attack.
• Unwinnable by Design: In some adaptations, you can't win "Megalo Strike Back" - when the song ends, Chara will simply lunge at you and kill you, reversing the health bar. In all versions from the original mod, its left ambiguous what happens next (at least for now).
• Updated Re-release: There are two separate (unofficial) updated versions of the mod, both of which add new songs.
• Villain Opening Scene: In the J-Bug and Chino animations, Chara introduces themselves by killing Frisk/the player before meeting Boyfriend.
• Worthy Opponent: Early in the Chino's Animated video, Chara admits (after seeing Boyfriend tank a giant knife exploding in his face) that he "really (is) something different".
• Wowing Cthulhu: Chara is some kind of demon child that just got done with breaking reality, but the Chino version of them is actually impressed that Boyfriend is lasting so long in their fight, rather than being irritated with them like they apparently feel about Sans.

• And Now for Someone Completely Different: You play as Frisk in "Petals" and "Tenacity", and as Boyfriend in "Fallen" and "Megalo Strike Back".
• Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Like in Undertale, Flowey shows his true colours after his friendly façade wears off to Frisk, in this case, after getting tired of the latter not singing at the beginning of "Petals".
• Elective Mute: Frisk decides not to sing during the introduction in "Petals", but is very capable to do so, as shown during the rest of the mod.
• Nightmare Face: Chara gets a pretty horrific one in the ending, though arguably their regular "eyeless and crying oil" face already qualifies.
• Promoted to Playable: In comparison to the first version of the mod and the rest of renditions, where they're either killed (J-Bug's animation) or not shown altogether, Frisk is playable here.
• Recycled Soundtrack: "Megalo Strike Back" is the same song by Rishimazza instead of a remix or cover.
• Suddenly Speaking: Frisk sings in this mod, in great contrast with the original game.
• Unexpected Gameplay Change: You will have to press space to dodge at certain times in "Megalo Strike Back".
