The Lonesome Guild (Video Game)
The Lonesome Guild is an adventure-action RPG developed by Tiny Bull Studios and published by Don't Nod released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam on October 23, 2025.

Having woken up in a land called Etere with no memories of his past, a spirit named Ghost seeks to save the land from the Loneliness, a red mist that makes others experience anger and despair. To do this, Ghost must gather a team of six misfit heroes to save all of Etere together.

The Lonesome Guild contains examples of:

  • Amnesiac Hero: Ghost arrived in Etere in the form of a comet with no memory of who he is nor where he came from.
  • Awful Truth: Noellis and, eventually, the Lonesome Guild discover that the Ascension was nothing but a lie, along with the false promise of godhood. The Ascension was only a way for the Only One to feast on a few selected chosen ones to sate it’s hunger.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: Mauhen is the only child of the Lonesome Guild, hence he is the youngest one of the bunch.
  • Big Damn Heroes: When Noellis nearly revealed "Khan Nuroblat's" secret, the Khan ordered his guards to kill the Lonesome Guild, fortunately Chaska was around to help fight them off, giving Noellis a chance to manifest portals to help the guild escape.
  • Body Surf: Ghost helps his friends fight by taking control of them, enhancing their abilities and fighting as if they were one person.
  • The Chosen Many: The Ascension, which happens once every 100 years, chooses a few champions. Each champion is a representative of their species to become gods. Now it’s up to Ghost to gather a new group of chosen ones to complete the ritual.
  • Cool Old Lady: Sarangalyn is an old Felycanth witch who possesses an innate knowledge of poison and an experienced fighting prowess.
  • The Corruption: The Loneliness, which takes the form of a red mist, twists the souls and emotions of anyone affected by it, causing them to act on their worst impulses. The former champions (including Noellis) from the last Ascension are the ones who suffer from its effects.
  • Divided Deity: Ghost is actually a part of the Only One that got torn away when the Last Ascension failed. With its other half gone, it yearned to be whole, thus the miasma of Loneliness came to be.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": This game contains a Foxtrae named Mr. Fox, and a ghost named... well you get the idea.
    • Mr. Fox's real name is Llouyern.
  • Due to the Dead: Sarangalyn and Mr. Fox's side quests have them decide to give their old friends a proper burial after Morelgu suffered at the hands of Noellis and Sionnach sacrificed himself to save his people from himself, respectively.
  • Fantastic Racism: Curliquills and Felycanths have generations worth of bad blood between them. This is because Curliquills built their town on the former territory of the Felycanths, which the Felycanths raided them in turn. It's also why Ran Tran Trum and Tor ve Do show caution to Sarangalyn.
  • Genius Bruiser: Ran Tran Trum is a young defender at heart. While his strength and bravado are undeniable, he also possesses an innovative genius that rivals that of Davinci's, being able to make a home base and robots from scratch.
  • Giant Corpse World: Eunimonya is a city that had been built next to the corpse of a giant rain god, Theutis, who was killed by a Felycanth tyrant, Khan Nurbolat. Thus, it causes the city to be drenched in a constant rain of the tears of Theutis.
  • Gone Horribly Wrong: The last Ascension not only ended up corrupting the former champions, but also causing Loneliness to appear and infect all of Etere. It’s later revealed by Morelgu that the reason for the Ascension's failing was because Noellis joined the others in act of desperation.
  • Hates Being Alone: Ghost's biggest fear is being alone, and desperately seeks connection with others to avoid that feeling. The game-over scene says "You are alone" and shows Ghost in fear. Despite having the ability to phase through objects, he refuses to use the ability as it loses connections with his friends. It helps that Ghost is a piece of the Only One, who also desires companionship.
    • Noellis is the same way, as he joined the heroes of the last Ascension because he hated being alone and wanted to be a god as well, causing the Ascension to fail and witnessing what his god really was. His main objective is to become his own god and destroy loneliness once and for all so no one, not even he would ever suffer the pain of isolation ever again.
  • Jackass Genie: Mauhen has the ability to grant the wishes of others, though he would much rather use this ability to play pranks on others.
  • Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: Noellis Ark seeks to unmake the Only One and become his own god. He intends to destroy Loneliness once and for all with the newly possessed powers. But in doing so, he would also be destroying love in the process. When he was told this, he claims that love is just as if not worse than loneliness and intends to destroy both.
  • The Nose Knows: Chaska demonstrates that as a Scalemoyed. She has the ability to track people's souls by scent, which comes in handy when the team was separated.
  • Our Ghosts Are Different: The main protagonist (who is called Ghost) is this as he is a spirit with no memory of who he was or where came from, and he isn't the only one. After Noellis' betrayal, Baba Ciu shows Ghost a town with spirits just like him, only a little different as they forget more about themselves day by day. Ghost remembers more about himself as the story progresses. It’s later revealed that this is due to the fact that the spirits who were consumed by the Only One, while Ghost is a part of the Only One.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: Mr. Fox's nihilistic and cynical nature stems from the loss of his own son to a sickness. So he decided that it was better to be alone so he would never be hurt again.
  • Party of Representatives: As tradition of The Ascension follows, The Lonesome Guild is formed from each kin of Etere: Ran Tran Trum of the Curliquills, Mauhen of the Astters, Davinci of the Bumblebuns, Chaska of the Scalemoyed, Mr. Fox of the Foxtrae, and Sarangalyn of the Felycanths.
    • The party of the last Ascension had Tor ve Do, Khaibit, Amelia, Sapallan, Sionnach and Morelgu.
  • Power Parasite: Noellis not only possesses the ability to absorb the Loneliness of the former champions, he can also absorb their powers as well. Khaibit's portal abilities aforementioned example.
  • Properly Paranoid: Mr. Fox shows a level of suspicion towards Noellis, due to the fact he leaves the group with more questions than answers and that he also possesses the ability to make portals after he removed Khaibit's Loneliness. Noellis kills Morelgu after she reveals that he was the reason the last Ascension failed, which further proves his suspicions.
  • Rage Against the Heavens: When Noellis Ark witnessed the Only One in person and believe that they lied to him and sought to consume all of Etere, he sparks his quest to to unmake them and set Etere free from it's suffering.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: The Lonesome Guild is made up of a spirit with no memory of who he was, an inventor with broken wings, an aloof old man with a sharp tongue, a brave punk with a heart of gold, a wish granting trickster with trust issues, a wanderer who ran away from her homeland, and an old witch with regrets of the past.
  • Redemption Equals Death:
    • After defeating Khaibit, and curing him of his Loneliness, he decides to sacrifice himself by being consumed by the black hole he summoned not only because it was the only way to save Nunuit, but because of the destruction he caused and that he betrayed the only person he considered a brother, Mauhen.
    • When Ghost tries to save Sionach from his Loneliness, Sionnach decides to take all of the cold and place it within himself, as a way to make up for the damage he caused to his people, his city and most of all, his oldest friend, Mr. Fox.
  • Token Heroic Orc: Felycanths aren't exactly known for being the most friendliest species, especially to their long time enemies, the Curliquills. But one of them, an old witch named Sarangalyn, ends up joining the team.
  • Two Girls to a Team: The Lonesome Guild contains a number of 5 males, the only two females being Chaska and Sarangalyn.
  • Villain Has a Point: While what he is trying to do — become one with the Only One so he can destroy loneliness, which in doing so would destroy love in the process — is wrong; his anger at the Only One is justified as the god's promise he believed in was nothing more than a lie and how they consumed those that were chosen for the Ascension.
  • Ye Olde Butcherede Englishe: This is basically how Noellis Ark talks: using pronouns such as thou, thee and thy.
