"Magical Steampunk Fantasy Realm"
The description of what kind of world the game is set on according to the official website.
Panel Attack is a free indie Match-Three Game developed for PC and Android.

The game is set in a magical world of fantasy with bronze and brass technology helping the people thrive and accomplish inhuman tasks with massive machines operating in harmony with mystical relics for a balance of science and mystical powers, with the powerful crystals of magic powering the technology as well as being used in magic. They need to be kept safe from evildoers, as the pulsing powers of old in these crystals could be dangerous in their hands. People can settle things calmly and peacefully by competing in Panel Attack games and emerging as honorable victors to end these fights with quick reactions and good strategy helping them no matter how pressured they are.

One of our heroes is the mystical Esme, who holds a green jewel-aligned association and travels with a steampunk parasol charged with magic crystals and uses their power for her skills as a real magician as she dedicates herself to the gems' safety and aims to maintain the balance placed on the world of magic while she also seeks to help those who are helpless. On her side is the blue penguin Magellan, who pilots a mystical flying ship modeled after an adorable animal and powered by steampunk technology and will face any task with optimistic motivation as he travels to places that are remote and anywhere with an active vein of crystal as he aims to explore the whole world. From there, they must face the antagonist Madame Q and her minions and prevent them from getting their hands on the artifacts.

Tropes:

  • Big Bad Wannabe: Rattles makes himself out to be public enemy number 1 in terms of threat, but his ego outweighs his competence, making him just a prideful and comedic fool.
  • Braids of Action: Madam Q ties her long hair in a braid and has shown herself to be a much more dangerous threat than Rattles who will make people pay massive prices if they stand in her path.
  • Global Airship: Magellan pilots a cute animal-looking airship to makes travels over the world.
  • Long Hair Is Feminine: Esme and Madame Q are depicted with long hair while the male Magellan and Rattles have no form of hair at all.
  • Malevolent Masked Man: Madam Q wears a domino mask and seeks to further her ambitions by stealing energy crystals that power the world's brass and bronze technology and will not hesitate to overpower any obstacles in her path.
  • Pink Is Feminine: Esme is depicted with long pink hair as a signifier of her feminine demeanor.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Madam Q dresses in black and red and she schemes to steal the magical crystals that serve as an energy source for the technology constructed by bronze and brass, all as part of accomplishing her own seemingly sinister ends.
  • Shout-Out: The five panels can be altered to resemble the panels from Panel de Pon, including the shapes and colors. The game's title is also an amalgamation of 'Panel' de Pon and Tetris 'Attack', both of which were alternate titles for the first game.
  • SkeleBot 9000: Rattles is a robot built from stolen materials, including bones, and is effectively a cybernetic skeleton.
  • Skeleton Motif: Rattles has a skull-like head and possesses a skull symbol. Part of his body is made from bones that have been stolen.
  • Skull for a Head: Rattles has a half-metal/half-bone skull as his head.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Rattles makes himself out to be one of the world's most dangerous criminals, but has too much comedy and pride to make him a serious or the most competent threat. The website even calls his ego overinflated.
