Mokoko X is a 2022 game by NAISU, available on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/PlayStation 5, and Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S. In the game, you meet eight different girls who have people and creatures targeting them for various reasons, and it's up to you to help them... by drawing lines to clear away enough of the game field. Between levels, there's also an unrelated story about two men getting stranded on an island and discovering what "Mokoko" is...
The gameplay is inspired by games like Qix and Gals Panic, where you draw lines around the game field and remove any area captured, along with any enemies inside said area. To defeat the boss, remove enough of the field!
Tropes:
- Ant Assault: Khalil the Grim Ant and his fellow ants ends up in Iren's room after being banished from the colony, and end up attacking her.

- Beach Episode: Ruby's levels take place at a beach resort, with her enemies being sea creatures.
- Be Careful What You Wish For: After Toru and his friends were taling about what animal they'd want to be and Toru joking he'd want to be a mosquito so he could annoy them all day, his wish got overheard by a witch who turned him into a mosquito.
- Boss Subtitles: Every enemy is introduced this way before their level.
- Chronic Self-Deprecation: Issa will sometimes ask if she really deserves your help during her levels, and calls herself useless.
- Dual Boss: Every girl's fourth and last level has you go up against the three previous enemies at once.
- Extreme Doormat: Issa always puts others before herself and gets easily taken advantage of, which is how she ended up in an abusive relationship with Kabeer before realizing that what he was doing is wrong.
- Festival Episode: Mei's levels are set during a Japanese festival, with Mei wearing a yukata for the occasion.
- Forced Transformation: Toru was a human who got turned into a mosquito after joking he'd want to be a mosquito so he could annoy his friends. The conversation got overheard by a witch who turned him into a mosquito.
- Foul Waterfowl: Tuck is a duck scamming others through a Ponzi scheme, and attacks anyone trying to get out.
- Ghost Pirate: Captain Smithers is a pirate who came back from the dead as a skeletal ghost.
- Inherited Illiteracy Title: The character Scorpon-pink.png is named as such because the developer who made his image file didn't know how to spell "scorpion".
- Interface Screw:
- Ali Baba's level will sometimes pause, with a "Waiting for other players" popup.
- Toru will occasionally create a cloud of thick green smoke which covers everything underneath it.
- Line-of-Sight Name: Khalil the Grim Ant decides to name himself after the villain "Grim Khalil" from a show Iren was watching.
- Living Toys: Lizardman God the Ramu is a plastic lizard toy who was temporarily given life through a ritual.
- The Magnificent: Every enemy is named in the [Name] the [Descriptor] format. While most of them are just describing what kind of being they are or what they do, there are also ones like "Mahone the Professional" and the rather unflattering "Ali Baba the Piece of Crap".
- Mars Needs Women: The Lizardman God finds human women much more attractive than females of his own species, which is why he targets Issa.
- Mosquito Miscreants: After getting turned into a mosquito, Toru starts stalking and annoying people when he can't get anyone to understand him.
- Painting the Medium: The Scorpon-pink.png level is set in a mobile game where the aforementioned scorpion wants you to watch ads... and a banner ad for Mokoko X itself is shown above the playing field.
- The Pollyanna: Mei stays cheerful and has a great time at the festival even as she gets attacked by enemies.
- Ponzi: Tuck the Duck runs this kind of scheme, and has managed to rope Mei into it. You convince her to leave the group, making him and his other marks attack you for it.
- Punny Name: Chu Chao, who works with trains, has a name sounding somewhat like "choo choo".
- Recurring Boss: Albert the sea star is fought in two of Ruby's levels, with different Boss Subtitles (The Wonderful Sea Creature and The Angry Sea Star) each time. This also means both versions of him appear in Ruby's last level.
- Runaway Train: Chu Chao intentionally makes the train go off the rails to hit anyone in their way... which happens to be you and Mei, so it's up to you to stop the trains.
- Shout-Out: Upon defeat, Captain Smithers wants to sail to "Donkey Island" and join "DeChuck".
- Show Within a Show: The unnamed mobile game Scorpon-pink.png originates from, and which Iren is seen playing.
- Sore Loser: Upon being defeated, Ali Baba responds "BG" (bad game) and claims he only lost because of his bad connection.
- Spiders Are Scary: One of the enemies threatening Iren is Fyodorov the Imaginary Spider, not helped by the fact that she's arachnophobic.
- Time Stands Still: One of the power-ups you can get is "Stop Time", which freezes the enemies for a short time while you can still move. You can still get hurt if you touch the enemies or their bullets, however.
