Mech Arena is a Mini-Mecha combat MMORPG developed by Plarium, a developer based in Herzliya, Israel, in 2021. As the title says, it's about robots, known as the titular Mechs, duking it out in 5v5/2v2 deathmatches, capturing zones to increase your team's influence, or in tournaments through various maps.
In this game, you can buy robots and weapons with Credits and A-Coins to upgrade them via blueprint pieces you obtain through Loot Boxes, completing Derby events, or a Rewards Pass, all whose gauges fill up after every fight or goal completion, or with A-Coins in the case of high-tier Mechs and weapons, and also for ranking them up once their levels max out.
This game includes examples of:
- Almighty Janitor: Owen "Diesel" O'Connor, a Missile-enhancing Legendary Pilot, started off as a laborer at a plant of Oktan Group Mechworks until an incident where their newest Mech went rogue by sabotage from Rosa da Silva drove him to pilot a construction Mech to wrestle it to the ground, causing Diesel to become a celebrity when CCTV footage of the incident went public.
- Alpha Strike: The Missile Rack series of Missile weapons is an array of rocket launchers that empty their entire magazines on enemies, dealing AoE damage in the process. Their Perk is even called the trope name.
- Anchored Teleportation: Redeemer's Backtrack special ability allows it to teleport to wherever it was ten seconds before, and can remove debuffs at Mech max level.
- Animal-Eared Headband: Epic Pilot "Nova" Ji Yoon is depicted with cat-eared headphones as part of her Idol Singer gimmick.
- And Your Reward Is Clothes: The game features several Skins and Paint Jobs to customize your Mechs' appearance. However, the ways to obtain them differ — Skins are obtainable by progressing in any Mech's achievement list, Derby Events, or at random from the Fortune Vaults. Paint Jobs, on the other hand, are obtained as random rewards from Crates or bought directly in the Skins menu with prices ranging 10,000 Credits to 150 A-Coins. Moreover, these are divided into Primary (affects the color of the hull and its limbs) and Secondary (affects the color of tiny details).
- Announcer Chatter: If you play any matches in high quality, you will hear an announcer giving commentary every time you capture a beacon or win/lose influence in Control Point Clash, destroy a rival Mech, and when giving the battle results.
- Anti-Armor:
- The Storm Rack series of Missile weapons has a Perk called Shieldbreaker, which allows them to deal extra damage to rival Mechs with shields.
- The Tetra Rifle series' Final Blow Perk allows it to not only deal additional damage from its magazine's last bullet depending on how many targets the other three bullets hit, but some of that extra damage can penetrate a Mech's personal shield.
- Artificial Stupidity: The bots have trouble targeting players that are close to them hiding around a corner, and tend to just flail about, letting a player peak one of their weapons out to whittle them away. They also will focus fire on a player over other bots whenever possible, often to their detriment as their tunnel vision lets a player exploit their predictability to let their own team's bots blast the enemy bot's backside.
- Back Stab: Attacking a mech's rear deals double damage to it, while attack its side deals one and a half times damage to it. Note that the "back" of a mech is dependent on where it's looking, not which way it is moving.
- Badass Santa: Nicklas, a Missile-enhancing Legendary Pilot, is designed as a futuristic rendition of Santa Claus with a beard under his welding mask, a red jacket, and his bio describing him as a gift-factory engineer and a habit of dressing in red and give out gifts at the annual office parties.
- Balance, Power, Skill, Gimmick: Each Mech is designed to perform one of four roles — Scout, Attacker, Tank, or Support. Scouts are the most versatile of the bunch, able to travel long distances to capture Checkpoints or detect enemies in the map. Attackers prioritize maximum firepower and can be equipped with diverse heavy weapons. Tanks are designed to protect allies by using shields or drawing enemy fire onto themselves. Support Mechs have abilities that range from healing/boosting allies, crippling enemies or controlling territory.
- Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: Samson, Neev, and Val are the only female Pilots who wear midriff-baring outfits.
- Blade Below the Shoulder: Legendary Pilot Acantha, established as Rosa da Silva's cyborg bodyguard, sprouts an extansible blade from a hatch on her arm in her animated portrait.
- Blinded by the Light: Solis can toss out two orbs at a time with its ability Optic Override. These orbs blind any mechs caught in the area, and prevents weapons that require a lock-on from working.
- Boring, but Practical: The Assault class weapons are (mostly) like the assault rifle you'll find in most shooters. Good at all ranges but extremely long, decent damage and magazine capacity, quick reloads and low punishment for missing your shots.
- Bottomless Magazines: The Continuum series of Legendary Sniper weapons have a Perk called Anti-Matter Mag (sic) that allows them to shoot continuously without having to reload.
- Braids of Action: Stefania, a Legendary Pilot who enhances Guided weapons, wears her long hair in braids and her bio states that after buying out all investors following the abandonment of offworld colonies and thus make her power-cell business flourish, she became a Pilot.
- Broken Ace: Ben "Mako" Takahashi, a Rare Pilot who boosts Beam weapons, is stated in his backstory to be able to win easily, but he still has trouble maintaining his team as an independent Pilot without any sponsors. Even though he's the son of the General Director of Excelsior Heavy Industries, he refuses to call for financial help for undisclosed reasons.
- Child Prodigy: Fei is the youngest of the game's Pilots and her backstory states her as such, narrating she won a Nobel Prize for her research in AI and became obsessed with Mech Arena to the point her friend and fellow Pilot, Rosa da Silva, pulled some strings to get Fei into the arena, allowing her to demostrate formidable piloting skills at such a tender age.
- Color-Coded Item Tiers: Mechs and weapons are classified as Grayish Blue (Common), Green (Uncommon), Light Blue (Rare), Purple (Epic), and Orange (Legendary).
- Cooldown Manipulation:
- The Guardian has an ability named System Crash which projects a screen that deactivates enemy Mechs' weapons and puts their abilities on cooldown within a radius of 30m.
- The Outlaw has a ranged version of this; its Foul Play ability allows it to disable a selected enemy Mech's weapon and put its abilities in cooldown on aim, but how long it takes depends on how far the enemy is, and it also affects other enemies within a certain radius of the targeted Mech.
- Crosshair Aware: If you're being targeted by a Guided weapon or any single-target Mech ability, you'll be notified by a reticle appearing on your Mech.
- Cyber Cyclops: Archangel is a robot decked in a hooded black and red outfit and its face is composed of nothing but a single cybernetic eye.
- Cybernetic Faceplate: Sunny, a Legendary Pilot that specializes in Assault weapons, is said to have grown in a tough neighborhood and hailed as a hero in his community for his resolve to protect the innocent from criminals; he only joined the titular tournament to prove the grand prize, a youth serum, was a scam by Everlife to prey on the vulnerable. He appears as a young man wearing an electronic face mask that glitches into a monkey's fangs to go with his yellow, Chinese-patterned jacket, a Telescoping Staff, a bead collar, and a cybernetic monkey tail as part of his Sun Wukong theme.
- Cyber Ninja: Despite being stated in her backstory as "a spy", Asami is decked in a futuristic rendition of ninja garb, complete with a fishnet bodystocking, cybernetic bracers, high-tech hand fans, and a ribbon cable as a sash.
- Damage-Increasing Debuff: Weaken is inflicted by certain weapons, and makes the afflicted mech take 1.5x damage. Orion's Hunter's Mark makes the targeted mech take double damage, plus a bit extra.
- Damage Over Time: Venom and Burn are Status Effects that deal continuous damage to targets, and are inflicted by weapon series Hornet and Hellfire, respectively. The difference is that Venom bypasses any Personal Shields and Shield Mods the targeted Mech may have.
- Death from Above:
- Javelin Rack and Cryo Javelin are both series of rocket-launchers that fire salvos of homing rockets on any target they lock on, provided they're within a 15m to 75m radius.
- Rocket Mortar is a series of rocket-launchers that fire salvos of rockets up into the sky to cause heavy splash damage on any target it lands on or next to, within a radius ranging from 45m to 225m. If a rival Mech gets too close, it's useless.
- Death of a Thousand Cuts:
- The Pod Gun series of weapons shoots sticky bombs that individually deal chip damage, but when you stick enough of these into a rival Mech, they can cause severe damage.
- The Minigun line of weapons don't do that much damage on a shot-per shot basis, but with an RPM of 600 and a 200 round magazine, it can quickly cause an enemy Mech's health to wither away under the sheer amount of fire it can output.
- Deflector Shields: Several of the Tank mechs have a variation of one.
- The Juggernaut's Personal Shield ability covers it in a protective film that shrugs off any damage via its Personal Shield special ability. However, the shield can also be damaged and therefore be negated by sniper rifles, missile launchers, and shotguns.
- The Ares' Wide Shield ability creates a broad screen-shaped shield in front of itself to protect it and any nearby ally standing behind or beside it from frontal damage. That said, it leaves the back and top unprotected, so this shield can be negated by attacking the Ares from behind or use a Guided weapon like the Javelin Rack series.
- The Sentinel's Tall Shield Is similar to Ares' Wide Shield, but is more of a vertical rectangle. While it won't be protecting teammates as easily, it has more health and can block attacks from Javelin and Helix Racks.
- The Aegis' Dome Shield ability creates a sturdy protective dome around it and other allies within range, allowing it to protect from damage from all kinds of weapons for 10 seconds. It also blocks most enemy mech's abilities from affecting any allied mechs in the shield. Notably, EMP effects from Zephyr and Surge.
- The Bastion's Blast Shield provides a ring shaped shield around itself. When the shield runs out of health, it explodes, dealing damage and applying an EMP effect to all enemy mechs within 30 meters. It doesn't block attacks from above or below, so watch out for mortars and mines.
- The Blockhorn's Barricade deploys a solid rectangular barrier that prevents anyone from moving past it, while allowing allies to fire through it. It also provides a damage amplification zone behind it.
- Delinquent Hair: Garret "G-Lock" Lockwood, an Epic Pilot who specializes in close-quarters weapons, sports a mohawk and he's stated in his bio to have been a gangster punk since 12 years old and a Mech thief at 15.
- Designer Babies: Nova, an Epic Pilot, is stated in her backstory to not only be a streamer, singer, and influencer named Ji Yoon, but she has been conceived in a test tube and cloned as property of media giant Winter Moon Music. However, said corporation met its downfall the moment Nova entered Mech Arena and proved herself an extraordinary fighter; while investigations found no cheats on her, they ended up finding WMM's dark secrets, thus leaving her free to participate in Mech Arena.
- Dreadlock Warrior: Leo "Torchlight" Sala, a Rare Pilot who boosts Sniper Rifle weapons, wears his hair in dreadlocks and not only is the CEO of the refugee-aid company that bears his nickname, but he's also a sharp Pilot.
- Drone Deployer:
- Volti's Thunderstorm special ability locks on and deploys a drone to the target, which will project a damage zone that applies Shock. However, the duration is inversely proportional to the number of enemies inside the zone and cannot bypass Shields.
- Oracle is a Legendary-tier series of Assault weapons that have spherical drones floating next to them. Their Tracking Shot Perk causes said drones to be deployed on the enemy once 35% of the magazine is fired, firing their own ammo and inflicting the Reveal status effect.
- Electronic Eyes: Epic Pilot G-Lock has cybernetic eye implants replacing both of his eyes that resemble sunglasses at first glance.
- Fire-Breathing Weapon: Hellfire is a Heavy Duty series of Legendary flamethrowers whose unique Perk, Fire Jet, allows it to release a sustained stream of fire and apply the Burn effect on targets.
- Floating Limbs: Several legendary grade mechs have components that float around them without being attached to the "center" of the mech. Seeker is the most notable, being composed of no less than eleven disconnected components.
- Foe-Tossing Charge: The Killshot family Mechs (Slingshot, Killshot, and Nomad) and Surge have the ability to charge against foes and hit them with a shockwave, with their effects differing depending on the Mech.
- Four Is Death:
- The Tetra Rifle series of Legendary weapons stands out for having four bullets per magazine, a reload time of four seconds, and a Perk called Final Blow, which causes the last bullet in the magazine to deal increased damage depending on how many targets were hit by the previous three bullets. In Mechs with personal Shields, this also allows a percentage of the last bullet's damage to penetrate.
- Onyx, a Legendary Attacker Mech, has a special ability called Quad Rocket, which makes use of its built-in rocket launcher to send four rockets in a beeline for a target, dealing Splash Damage on impact.
- Four-Leaf Clover: The Slingshot has an exclusive Legendary Skin called "Lucky Charm", which gives it an appearance themed after four-leaf clovers.
- Fragile Speedster:
- Puma is an Attacker Mech with a 20km/h velocity has the ability to create static-energy walls that protect from enemy fire, but has rather low HP and goes down in a few hits from shotguns or sniper rifles.
- Lancer is a Scout Mech with 25km/h velocity and can jump either to climb buildings, pass obstacles, or escape enemy fire. That said, it can go down in a few well-timed hits from Sniper Rifles or Shotguns.
- Slingshot is a Scout Mech that can run 29km/h because of having a huge wheel instead of legs, and has the ability to ram into enemies at higher speeds and unleash an AoE energy blast on impact. However, it can go down in a few hits.
- Freeze Ray: The Stasis Beam series fires a freezing laser that slows down foes for a short period of time.
- Gatling Good: The Minigun series of Heavy Duty weapons have the ability to shoot nonstop strafes at enemies, as their Suppression Perk explains.
- Gentleman Thief: Baron, a Legendary Pilot who enhances Sniper weapons, is stated in his bio to be "a descendant of French aristocracy who became one of the world's most infamous cat burglars" and he's dressed in aristocratic garb, holds a Classy Cane, and wears a futuristic Plague Doctor-esque mask.
- Gold and White Are Divine: The "Seraphim" and "Lightwielder" skins change the Mechs' appearance to a gold-and-white motif combined with Heavenly Blue details, invoking a divine appearance.
- Grenade Launcher: The Nade Launcher series of Epic Barrage weapons are wheel-shaped grenade launchers that throw rocket-propelled canisters in an arcing trajectory that explode on impact with anything, causing Splash Damage to any Mechs nearby. Its cryogenic upgraded version, Cryo Launcher, also launches grenades that add infliction of Stasis to their splash damage.
- Handicapped Badass: Impulse, an Epic Pilot who specializes in Barrage weapons, is confined to a wheelchair and her bio states that despite being blocked from becoming a professional Pilot by Rosa da Silva, she entered the Global Pilot Search instead and won the tournament, thus earning a legion of fans and the opportunity to participate at the big leagues, which she uses to show she does belong in the Arena.
- Homing Projectile: Guided weapons can fire strafes of projectiles at a single or more targets provided they're within range and the weapon is locked on. However, there are weapons from other types that have Perks that allow them to fire homing projectiles.
- Javelin/Helix Rack and all their variants can shoot missiles that home in on a single target as long as they're properly locked on and the enemy is within the weapon's range.
- The Savant series has a Perk called Triple Threat, which allows you to target up to three enemies at a time with tracking projectiles that adapt their trajectory to their location.
- Gemini, a series of dual-rocket launchers, has a Perk called Duality Shot, which allows it to fire two rockets one after another in rapid succession, with the first one applying Weaken on the targeted rival and the second one applying Stasis on impact.
- The Viper series of Assault weapons have a Perk called Finisher, which allows them to fire a powerful, target-seeking rocket every eighth shot.
- The Pod Gun series of Barrage weapons shoot sticky bombs that home in on targeted Mechs that are near the weapons' line of fire.
- The Disc Launcher series has a Perk called Auto-Targeting, which allows their projectiles to home in on locked-on foes without manual aiming.
- The Quasher series of Sniper weapons has a Perk called Dual Modes, which gives them two firing modes; the Sniper Mode fires non-homing bullets that have a stacking effect whenever they hit a target. The Enhanced Mode, activated when the magazine runs out, allows it to fire stronger rounds that deal Splash Damage and home in on enemies, its number determined by the number of hits landed in Sniper Mode.
- Honor Is Fair Play: Rare Pilot Samson (full name Savannah Samson) is stated in her backstory to have made a point of not playing foul in Mech Arena matches, product of her being raised to be honest and kind, which made her a bottom-tier fighter in said sport because it requires one to be ruthless and underhanded until she was mentored by Major, a Legendary Pilot.
- Interface Screw: Solis' Optic Override ability fires two orbs of light that blind targets, which is interpreted by the targeted Mech's screen freezing under a blue filter for a short period of time. While the targeted Mech's player can still move and use their weapons in this state, they're more prone to get ambushed while running for cover.
- Ironic Name: Guardian, despite having a name that evokes defense and protection, is an Attacker Mech.
- Kill Streak: The game not only rewards you with prizes if you destroy several enemy Mechs in a row at each battle, but also has prizes for when you destroy more than one Mech belonging to a single rival, destroy them with an attack from behind, or assist allies in destroying them.
- Loot Boxes: The game has this mechanic in the form of Crates, which give you random Blueprints and Credits, with higher-tier Crates having a chance to give you A-Coins and Paint Jobs for your Mechs.
- Loyal Animal Companion: Galvan, a Legendary Pilot, is Lodestar's pet dog. His bio states that as a pup, Lodestar saved him from a mutated scorpion at the cost of his arm and built a robot minder to keep him safe. However, since Galvan had a neural link to the robot, their minds gradually integrated and effectively became one to the point of following Lodestar into Mech Arena out of loyalty.
- Macross Missile Massacre: Any robot equipped with the highest-numbered weapons in the Missile Rack series can unleash a barrage of missiles on unsuspecting foes, provided the player has a good aim.
- Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Prior to its re-classification into the support role, Brickhouse was the only tank mech who's ability did not augment its durability in any way.
- Mini-Mecha: All of the Mechs are taller and wider than cars but no bigger than buildings; the smaller ones move faster than the bigger ones.
- Monkey King Lite: Sunny, a Legendary Pilot who boosts Close-Quarters weapons, is designed after Sun Wukong, right down to a yellow jacket with Chinese pattern designs, a cybernetic monkey tail, a bead collar, a Telescoping Staff, and a cybernetic mask that occasionally glitches into a monkey-like mouth.
- More Dakka:
- Repeater is a series of Legendary Close-Quarters weapons whose Perk, Endless Fury, not only gives them a high rate of fire and deals high damage, but also a constantly-recharging magazine.
- Reaver is a series of Legendary Assault weapons whose Perk, Dauntless, allows it to deal high damage with a high rate of fire and a quick reload speed, allowing to continuously fire at enemies mid-range.
- Mutual Kill: If you and another enemy Mech destroy each other at the same time or within seconds of each other, the "Double K.O." prize will be awarded to both of you.
- Mysterious Stranger: Archangel, a Sniper-enhancing Legendary Pilot, is a mysterious robot dressed in red and black and its bio states it has no clear goals nor traits other than its rivalry with Major Adrian Vasquez.
- New Old West: Cal "Maverick" Walker, an Epic Pilot who specializes in Sniper weapons, is dressed like a futuristic cowboy, wearing a coat over his bare, cybernetic torso, and a cowboy hat.
- Nitro Boost:
- Several Mechs gain a speed boost when using their ability.
- The Charge Rocket line of weapons gives mechs a 70% movement speed increase if it fires all 5 rockets in the chamber at once. This can turn even the slowest mechs into Lightning Bruisers, and make faster mechs damn near untouchable.
- One-Hit Polykill:
- Howler is a series of close-quarters, Legendary sonic weapons with a Perk called Cacophony, which allows it to fire a sonic blast that passes through enemies and inflicts Shock on them, allowing it to damage multiple targets provided they're in a row.
- Burrow Beam is a series of Legendary Beam weapons with a Perk called Piercing Laser, which shoots a powerful laser that passes through Mechs, allowing for damage on multiple targets.
- One-Wheeled Wonder: Slingshot, one of the first Mechs you obtain, has a single wheel instead of legs, with its special ability consisting of charging towards enemies to damage them. Its cousins, the Epic-tier Killshot and Legendary-tier Nomad, are also one-wheeled Mechs, with the latter using a sphere instead of an actual wheel.
- Painfully Slow Projectile: The Disruptor missile weapon line fires green energy orbs that move extremely slowly. However the orbs do constant damage to nearby mechs as they move, making them powerful against retreating mechs.
- Panthera Awesome: The "Gold Leopard" Skin, available only for Stalker and Shadow, decking them in a gold leopard-print paint job.
- The Paralyzer: The EMP status effect will immobilize the afflicted Mech and disable its systems for a short period of time.
- Patriotic Fervor:
- "Mark of Freedom" and "Star Spangled" are both Epic-tier Skins available for every Mech, which decks it in American flag motifs.
- "Slava Ukraini" is an Epic-tier skin that decks your Mech in the colors and symbols of the Ukraine flag.
- Player Versus Environment: The Onslaught game mode lends you strong robots and weapons at max level/rank to pit you against waves of computer-controlled enemy Mechs. Your position in this mode's Leaderboards will be determined by how fast you finish the stages.
- Play Every Day: Apart from completing seven Daily Missions, the game has a 28-day login program that gives you rewards that escalate as you check in every day, with the last daily reward being an Amateur Crate or a powerful Mech.
- Precision-Guided Boomerang: The Revoker is a series of Legendary close-quarters weapons whose Perk, Magnetic Shot, allows it to fire a returnable dart that deals heavy damage on both impact and pullout.
- Psychotic Smirk: Neev's default expression is a one-sided grin, which reflects her ferocious attitude and intelligence at piloting Mechs.
- Queer Colors: Every Mech has a Pride skin that can be bought for 1 Credit, decking it in white with the colors of the LGBT flag.
- Ray Gun: Most of them are in their own category called "Beam".
- Thermal Lance is a series of lasers that cause continuous damage on any enemy they hit while inflicting a defense-reduction effect. Its cryogenic upgraded version, Stasis Beam, on the other hand, launches lasers that inflict, well, Stasis.
- The Particle Beam series fires a homing laser stream at a target, with its Ionic Charge Perk allowing it to charge up a powerful blast by dealing damage in Beam mode.
- The Graviton Beam series fires gravity beams at enemy Mechs that afflicts them with Implosion after dealing enough damage, causing them heavy additional damage.
- Red and Black and Evil All Over: The "Underworld Guard" skin decks any Mech it's unlocked for in black and red with gold details, and it's meant to invoke a demonic appearance.
- Rewards Pass: The game has Battle Pass Seasons which lasts three weeks each and awards Pass Points for every five battles you fight, filling up a bar that represents the Pass' level and thus obtaining rewards for every level it progresses. It's divided in Silver Pass, which is available to all players, and Gold Pass, which can only be purchased with real money and offers even greater rewards than the Silver one.
- Rings of Death: Legendary Pilot Kalpana "Myna" Iyer wields a pair of chakram-like Mech controls, which ties to her past as a dancer before an injury ended her career until she got enhanced and entered Mech Arena.
- Scavenged Punk: Legendary Pilots Lodestar and his pet dog Galvan are examples of this trope; the former is the leader of a tribe of desert-dwelling machinists called the "Orphans", and his bio states that he crafted tech of his own design to participate in Mech Arena, shown in his portrait depicting him with prosthetics and weapons fashioned from scrap parts. The latter is a dog who controls a robot built with scavenged junkyard parts; even the gun and khakkhara it's holding are both constructed of scrapped parts.
- Shameless Self-Promoter: Spark, a Rare Pilot who enhances Artillery weapons, is a military AI robot whose bio states he became obsessed with promoting an energy drink he created, called "Electro-Lyte", at every chance he gets, not caring that he's a robot lacking sense of taste and therefore no one would buy his drinks out of suspicion.
- Shotguns Are Just Better: Shotgun 2, 4, and 6 have one of the highest damage outputs in the early game, but they compensate it for their short range. Fragment Guns are even stronger than Shotguns, and function just like them, but require you to be practically point blank to deal their full damage. Ember Guns are even stronger as they're double-barreled shotguns, which earns them the Twin Shots Perk. This allows them to deal heavy damage on close quarters and inflict Weaken on targets.
- Situational Damage Attack:
- Overdriver is a Legendary series of Assault weapons whose Perk, Hotshot, allows them to deal more damage to an enemy the longer it shoots and fire at a higher rate without reloading until it overheats.
- Chain Gun is a Legendary series of Heavy Duty weapons whose Perk, Build Up, causes their Rate of Fire to increase over time when the trigger is held, allowing them to overwhelm Mechs with shields.
- Storm Rack is a Legendary series of Missile weapons whose Perk, Shieldbreaker, allows them to deal more damage to rival Mechs with shields.
- EM Rifle is a Legendary series of Sniper weapons whose Perk, Power Shot, bestows them with chances to deal double damage shots, which increase as the weapon is ranked up.
- Tetra Rifle is a Legendary series of Sniper weapons whose Perk, Final Blow, causes the fourth and last bullet in their magazine to deal increased damage depending on how many foes were hit with the previous ones, which also bypasses Personal Shields.
- Sniper Rifle:
- Longarm rifles live up to their name as they're sniper rifles that shoot high-damage projectiles at enemies from a long distance, compensating with a reload time of up to 12 seconds.
- The Gauss Rifle series are high-tech sniper rifles that deal low damage but have a slightly high rate of fire and a reload time of five seconds. Their Adaptable Perk also makes them effective at any range, whether it be up close or far away.
- The Quantum Gun series is composed of high-tech sniper rifles that fire two blasts at a time and inflict both Weaken and Stasis on enemy Mechs at the same time.
- Spider Tank: The aptly-named Arachnos, as well as its cousins Parasite, Blockhorn, Scorpius, and Vortex, are both four-legged Mechs and are among the slowest ones.
- Spiritual Antithesis: To War Robots, a Humongous Mecha combat MMORPG developed by Pixonic, a Cypriot company based in Limassol. Robots is set in a far future in which MegaCorps govern space colonies after a cataclysm decimated most of Earth and rendered in realistic graphics. Slow-paced fights and several customization options with Pilots learning skills at random, frequent lags, and predatory business practices galore, serving to milk pay-to-win players for all they're worth, contrasting with Arena's smooth performance, lighthearted tone and slightly-cartoony graphics, and fights in Mini-Mecha with a model that gives respite to free-to-play players.
- Starter Equipment: The Autocannon series of Common Assault weapons are your first weapons at the start of the game, but as you progress they'll be phased out by stronger weapons.
- Stealth Expert: Some Mechs have the ability to bypass enemy targeting systems for a while, but they can still get hit by enemy fire and take damage in this state (not to mention that Guided weapons can still fire on stealthed Mechs if they activate their abilities seconds after the strafe).
- Tengu's Sky Strike special ability not only allows it to leap and crash into enemies, creating a shockwave that deals heavy damage and slows down enemies, but also bestows it with stealth.
- Shadow's aptly-named Stealth special ability gives it a speed boost and a stealth bonus, allowing for surprise attacks and evading enemies.
- Eclipse's Phase Cloak special ability not only puts it on stealth mode and gives it a speed boost, but also allows it to negate debuffs.
- Sticky Bomb: The Pod Gun series of Barrage weapons shoot sticky bombs that explode in seconds, damaging any rival Mech they're stuck and any nearby allies it may have. Their Perk is even named Sticky Bombs.
- Swiss-Army Gun:
- The Versa series of Heavy Duty weapons can switch between two modes depending on whether you hold down the firing button or tap it — the former activates Machine Gun Mode and overwhelms enemies with a rain of bullets; the latter activates Sniper Mode and fires a powerful long-range shot that consumes 20 bullets at once.
- The Compound Beam series of Beam weapons fires streams at a locked-on enemy, which charges up and triggers its Pulse Mode after dealing enough damage. In that mode, the weapon can fire a fan-shaped blast that inflicts EMP on the target.
- Teen Genius: Legendary Pilot Neev is described in the first paragraph of her backstory as "part wild animal, part genius", and that she invented a neural interface for piloting Mechs at 17 years old.
- Temporary Online Content:
- Event banners such as Arena/Award/Research Playoff, Pilot Prizefight, Specialization Spree, Deathmatch Mania, Battlethon, Accolade Challenge, Development Derby, Keymaster Race, and the Trouble in Paradise/Alpha Trials events, which disappear and reappear once in a while.
- Weekly Tournaments are held from Tuesday to Sunday, consisting of six consecutive "Heats" that last 24 hours each. During a Heat, fighting in Tournaments will increase your score, which not only determines your place in the Rankings, but also whether you'll rise to a higher Bracket and gain even more and better prizes, stay in your current one, or go down a lower one. Once the six Heats conclude, you will be evaluated according to your performance before moving on to the next Tournament.
- 10-day Derby Events focus on a specific Mech and Pilot and have their own set of objectives for each day, which you must achieve to unlock rewards such as Blueprints, Credits, Fortune Keys, Crates, or Event Tokens.
- Tracking Device: The Oracle series of weapons have a Perk called Tracking Shot, which deploys a Drone once 35% of the weapon's magazine is fired. Said Drone will fire at the target unless the magazine is empty, and its bullets will inflict the Reveal status effect, which will not only make the target visible through walls and obstacles, but it also won't wear off until the target is destroyed.
- Trap Master:
- Cheetah has a special ability called Mines, which allows it to drop proximity mines in the battlefield that cause area damage if set off.
- Lacewing has a special ability called Mine Jump, which allows it to drop mines on opponents as it jumps.
- The Turret Master: The Arachnos has the ability to deploy a turret in front of itself that shoots enemies at a 30m radius.
- Ungrateful Bastard: Morpho, a Sniper-enhancing Legendary Pilot, is stated in his bio to have been accusing his coworker, fellow Legendary Pilot Vox, of corporate espionage after she saved his life from a particle-accelerator accident.
- Weaponized Teleportation: Seeker has a special ability called Warp, which allows it to teleport towards a rival Mech within a radius of 100m. On arrival, it will activate a personal shield that nullifies all damage and deal bonus damage to its opponents before being teleported back to its starting point.
- We Will Spend Credits in the Future: The main in-game currency is called Credits, which you can spend on buying and upgrading Mechs and weapons.
- Zerg Rush: The PVE Onslaught mode will usually pit you in a maxed out mech against a swarm of lowly or even downgraded mechs.
