Madagascar Kartz (Video Game)
Who likes to move it, move it?!

Madagascar Kartz is a Mascot Racer spinoff of the Madagascar franchise, produced by Activision. It features characters and tracks from across the first two Madagascar movies, with Shrek and B.O.B. from Monsters vs. Aliens appearing as unlockable racers.

Madagascar Kartz features examples of:

  • Achievement System: To compensate for the system's lack of innate trophies/achievements like the PS3/Xbox 360 versions have, the Wii version instead awards in-game badges for completing specific conditions that function exactly like the trophies/achievements on other systems.
  • Bubblegloop Swamp: Shrek's swamp is a swampy, muddy track.
  • Comeback Mechanic: In the Move It! Move It! mode, if you get too far away from the disco ball, you will get an automatic speed boost to help you catch up with the other racers.
  • Continuity Nod: B.O.B.'s kart has the green Jello he fell in love with in the movie sitting on the side.
  • The Dividual: In this game, the penguins and the chimps are represented as one character each. Skipper shares his kart with Kowalski, Rico, and Private, while Mason and Phil drive their respective kart together with Mason in the front and Phil in the back.
  • Eternal Engine: The Mothership is a large, technologically-advanced alien spaceship.
  • Everyone Has a Special Move: Every character has a unique character skill exclusive to them:
    • Alex roars, stunning all karts in front of him.
    • Marty summons other zebras to race with him for a speed boost.
    • Gloria stomps the ground, sending out a shockwave that hits any kart in front of her.
    • Melman sneezes, stunning all opposing racers.
    • The Penguins activate a stealth mode that grants them extra speed for a short time.
    • The Chimps form a paper trail that grants them a speed boost.
    • King Julien forces the other racers to dance uncontrollably, causing their karts to violently sway left and right.
    • Shrek summons a cloud of gas that hits all other racers on the track.
    • B.O.B. throws his eye forward, slowing down all racers in front of him.
  • Flying Car: B.O.B.'s kart is a hovering machine.
  • Guest Fighter: DreamWorks Animation characters Shrek and B.O.B. appear as unlockable racers. Both characters also bring locations from their series with them, with Shrek's Swamp and the Mothership appearing as drivable tracks.
  • Jack of All Stats: Alex has well-rounded stats across the board.
  • Jungle Japes: Shark Beach and Foosa Rocks take place in Madagascar itself.
  • Lethal Lava Land: The Volcano track takes place inside a volcano filled with lava and falling rocks.
  • Mascot Racer: The game has the cast of Madagascar as well as Shrek and B.O.B. as guest racers. It uses tracks and power ups typical of the genre.
  • Mighty Glacier: Gloria, Shrek and King Julian all have poor grip, but high speed and decent boost stats.
  • Secret Character: The Chimps, King Julian, Shrek and B.O.B. can only be unlocked by completing each of the three cups on the four speed classes available.
  • Sidelined Protagonist Crossover: Monsters vs. Aliens is represented with B.O.B. instead of Ginormica, the actual main protagonist of the movie.
  • Spell My Name With An S: For some reason, King Julien’s name is spelled King Julian in this game.
  • Standard Alien Spaceship: Gallaxhar's mothership is a sleek, technological spaceship with lots of tunnels and lasers.
  • Threatening Shark: Shark Beach has the giant shark from Escape 2 Africa as a hazard to deal with.
  • The Voiceless: Of the playable penguins, only Skipper speaks, while Private, Kowalski, and Rico are all completely mute.
