Generic Cooking Game is a 2023 Roblox cooking simulation experience developed by British developer Rongzhen Li.note . The objective is to operate a restaurant by serving recipes to customers and making money, while at same time trying not to go bankrupt.
Generic Cooking Game contains examples of:
- Bland-Name Product: The in-game soda is called "Primal", based on the Prime Hydration brand of drinks.
- Context-Sensitive Button: A single key (the E key when playing on a computer) can be used for anything from opening and closing doors, to using the stove and blender.
- Cooking Mechanics: This is the main point of Generic Cooking Game. The player has to cook recipes which are then served to customers.
- Fatigue Mechanic: The player has energy, measured in kilojoules (kJ), which gradually decreases over time. When this happens, the player's walking becomes slower and slower. The player can regain energy by sitting on a couch in the office room, drinking coffee, or standing in front of a standing fan.
- Hobos: The Hobo Joe, found just outside of the restaurant who sells a standing fan.
- In-Universe Game Clock: The game runs on a 24-hour clock, where 1 in-game day corresponds to 15 real-life minutes. Day instantly transitions to night at 20:00, and back to day at 8:00.
- Made of Explodium: Bottles of oil explode if they are placed directly on a turned-on stove.
- Overly Long Name: One possible randomly-generated surname for a customer is "rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz"note . It's so long, it overflows the orange rectangle the name is contained in.
- Rainbow Speak: Many ingredients, utensils, and appliances that are mentioned in recipes are highlighted in orange.
- Resting Recovery: Players can sit on a couch found in the office room to regain energy.
- Sandbox Mode: The game's "Creative" servers let players cook whatever dishes they want. The supply of ingredients is unlimited, energy never depletes, and there are no customers.
- Temporary Online Content: From 23 December 2025 to 22 January 2026, the game had a Christmas Obbynote and Winter Memory Match.
- Useless Item: Rosemary, which isn't used in recipes.
- Wacky Sound Effect: Using the blender or the immersion blender will make a bubble pop noise.
