L - R: Mic, Mae, and Dan. Yes, the yellow rodent-thing is one of the heroes.
Dynamite Bomber is an Elimination Platformer game made by Korean company Limenko, using a premise and gameplay method inspired by fellow Korean game Bomb Kick two years ago.
Like Bomb Kick earlier, it... doesn't really have a deep plot. Again, players are in control of three chaaracters - two humans of each gender, and an animal. You play either as Mic (the guy), Mae (the girl) and Dan (the... capybara?), traveling across the world in single-screen stages while flinging projectiles at enemies.
This game contain examples of:
- Anthropomorphic Food: Chinatown ends with you fighting a giant sentient Chinese dumpling who bounces all over the place. Who splits repeatedly into smaller dumplings each and every time you hit it until it's a regular-sized dumpling... trying to chew your kneecaps.
- Background Boss: The Final Boss is a Humongous Mecha that takes up the whole background. You fight it while standing on platforms in the foreground, throw bombs, and target its weak points.
- Bonus Stage: Collecting enough letters to spell out the title ("DYNAMITE BOMBER") and you unlock a mini-racing game where you race with your friend (with the computer on single-player mode) in the skies, to either collect the most amount of pickups or reach the finishing line first.
- Boss Warning Siren: The game throws a single "WARNING!" in caps before a boss stage.
- Corrupted Character Copy: The stage based in Medieval Europe ends with you battling a dragon that looks like the one from Shrek, except recolored blue
and it's a hostile creature who wants to incinerate you. Perhaps it's her cousin? - Dem Bones:
- Europe, set in a medieval-era castle, has animated skeleton enemies.
- Japan's boss is - for some reason - a giant skeletal samurai. Who floats all over the place trying to slice you up.
- False Teeth Tomfoolery: The dragon boss, after losing a significant portion of it's health, will inexplicably pop up a set of false teeth.
- Flying Face: The second boss is a giant mechanical head on jetpacks... based on Hitler. Who lose his hair after taking damage, launches blades from his forehead and can vomit a thick energy blast. No explanation on why, the whole game's pretty nuts just like that. No, really
. - Living Statue: Mexico contains giant animated Aztec statues as enemies, as counterparts to the sumo mooks in Japan.
- Motivation on a Stick: In the racing-themed bonus stages, Don flies on a mighty giant eagle... while holding a fishing rod with a dangling fish ahead his avian ride.
- Nested Story Reveal: Beat the Final Boss and the game... is revealed to be a movie set. The whole time.
- Shows Damage: Displayed by most of the bosses. The robotic Hitler-head lose his hair, the undead samurai demon lose limbs, while the Final Boss begins cracking and losing parts.
- Smart Bomb: The game has one which rains a hail of fiery fireballs all over the screen, wiping out most onscreen enemies.
- Springs, Springs Everywhere: Several stages contains conveniently-place springing platforms, helpful for you to leap over enemies or reach higher areas. On the downside, you might be catapulted into enemy attacks.
- Sumo Wrestling: The stage in Japan contains giant sumo wrestlers as enemies.
- Thinking Up Portals: Mechanized portals show up in multiple stages that can send you - and enemies - porting to a different part of the screen. It can either help or hinder you, depending on the situation.
- Throw Down the Bomblet: In case the title doesn't clue you off already, your primary attack is by flinging a limitless supply of bombs at enemies.
