Advent NEON® is a 2D action platformer for Steam, and a follow-up to the Friday Night Funkin' mod vs. NEON.
After a mysterious event which ends with the synthezoid Neon beaten and their father Oganesson dead, Neon is challenged by the only other human in Neopolis, Franca, to defeat her Divas and destroy their reactors to bring him back to life.
Advent NEON® contain examples of:
- Absurdly Spacious Sewer: It's not only large enough for the gang to use as a hideout, but even have high-speed battles in!
- Advancing Wall of Doom: Hexane Act 3 has a magma wall at the end of the level. Helio's Great Wave ultimate attack during the final boss fight also takes the form of this. It will frequently close distance, further reducing any potential room for error.
- All the Worlds Are a Stage: The Origin Seed includes mechanics from all the previous levels in the game.
- Boss-Only Level: Every district's Act 2 consists solely of a mini-boss.
- Death or Glory Attack: Each synthezoid has an 'Edge' attack that is both immensely powerful and equally draining. Neon's merely drops them out of their Super Mode, while the bosses are either easily or outright stunned after using theirs.
- Degraded Boss: Rematches against the mini-bosses in the Origin Seed all have drastically reduced health. Helio's replicas of the Divas also can't active their FORTE abilities.
- Heads I Win, Tails You Lose: It doesn't matter if you manage to outrun Helio's ultimate attack. He will eventually cut you off and the wave will engulf you.
- Lethal Lava Land: The latter half of the Hexane District is filled to the brim with magma.
- More Than Infinite: Step Resonance is able to absorb and multiply power endlessly.
- Non-Elemental: Resonant Resonance is inferior to every other form of Resonance in the setting. It's also the only form of Resonance nearly every human in the setting can use.
- Once an Episode: Each of the five districts has a mini-boss for the second Act, and an invincibility section immediately before its final boss.
- Rank Inflation: Ranks range from D, C, B, A, S, X, and Z.
- Secret Sewer Society: The protagonists use the sewers for their base of operations. Franca eventually reveals there was nothing secret about it.
- Soul Power: Called Resonance, it's the source of the mechanical character's special abilities.
- Sword of Damocles: Neopolis exists for this purpose, confiscating the world's weapons to prevent other countries from going to war with each other.
- Time Stands Still: Dashing through most attacks freezes time for a moment, allowing Neon a chance to deal massive damage. Certain rooms in the game also keep time frozen longer than normal, requiring the player to traverse them while time is frozen before their impossibly fast obstacles begin moving again.
- Tradesnark™: It's right there in the title!
- Underground City: Phosphora District is located entirely underground, with a massive forest used to harvest resources above it.
- Yin-Yang Bomb: Meteor and Orbital Resonance are both combinations of internal-manipulating Solar and external-manipulating Lunar Resonance at different ratios. They aren't more powerful, but rather have different applications.
