Hugh Beringar v Adam Courcelle
"One Corpse Too Many". Hugh Beringar, having challenged suspected murderer Adam Courcelle to trial by combat, faces him in a duel overseen by King Stephen. Courcelle opens the duel with a dishonorable blow to the back of Hugh's head from his shield, and continues to fight dirty right up until Hugh inadvertently rolls him onto his own dagger (stolen from Brother Cadfael). "I trust I have proven my case," Hugh says to the King.
