- The separation between Dumbo and his mother, only in this adaptation, his mother is transported to a place with other "crazy" animals, only these are animals are actually freakish.
- Keep in mind that the original cartoon and the live action version are both family films, with content being aimed towards younger children. Mix that in with the circus scene from the start of the film, of where you do not have the ringmaster and clowns taunting Dumbo, but this time the circus goers, both adults and children. You have the adults and children alike, heckling an actual baby elephant (cannot emphasize on this being an actual baby animal), laughing at him, booing, and to make matters worse, throwing popcorn, peanuts and whatnot at him. Thankfully, they seem ashamed at the most, and stop when Dumbo's mother barges in. Later on, they even start treating Dumbo better, but such shameful behavior and from actual adults, certainly not material to influence such younger children.
- You want to know the kicker? Circus animals are often treated poorly behind the scenes, and are even taunted (along with circus freaks) by visitors as well.
