Contains examples of:

  • Age-Gap Romance: Jim and Wen never state their precise ages in the show, but Jim makes a comment that he is rapidly approaching age 40 and Wen states that he's close to 30, placing their age difference around 10 years.

  • Beta Couple: Li Ming and Heart.

  • Cast Full of Gay: The majority of the main cast and major supporting characters are gay men.

  • Common Law Marriage: Multiple examples among the adult characters who are in committed relationships, but unable to get legally married in Thailand at the time.

  • The Determinator: Wen is respectfully persistent in his efforts to start a relationship with Jim, even as Jim states multiple times that he's hesitant about dating anyone.

  • Disability Distress: Heart doesn't seem to be distressed by his deafness in and of itself, but he does reveal to Li Ming that he's been lonely and stressed out about the fact that his parents don't sign and have been keeping him locked up at home for three years.

  • Disabled Means Helpless: Mrs. Jintana doesn't allow her Deaf son to leave the house or attend school. Thankfully she starts to change her mind by the end of the series.

  • Disappeared Dad: Li Ming's father is never shown on screen, and it's stated in passing a few times that his mother and father got a divorce at some point before the series.

  • Doesn't Know Their Own Child: Heart gets into a fight with his parents after he and Li Ming get into a biking accident. Since Heart's parents haven't learned any sign language at this point, they have to rely on Li Ming to translate, which causes them to realize just how little they know about their son's interests and personality.

  • Everyone Can See It: Jim isn't fooling anyone with his insistence that he likes Wen simply as a friend.

  • Foot-Dragging Divorcee: Although they were never married due to same sex marriage not being legal in Thailand at the time, Wen and Alan were in a serious relationship for around 6 years. Wen breaks up with Alan, but the two continue living in the same apartment and even sleeping in the same bed. Gong calls out Wen for this, and tells him that he needs to move out and stop giving Alan false hope that their relationship could be salvaged.

  • Heel Realization: After sneaking out with Li Ming and getting into a biking accident, Heart angrily confronts his parents for keeping him at home for the last three years. His parents finally come to understand how badly he’s suffered being locked up at home since going deaf. They begin learning how to sign and take him on outings outside the house.

  • Love Will Lead You Back: Several months after their breakup, Alan continues to try to maintain a friendship with Wen and holds onto hope that the two still have a chance of making their romantic relationship work again.

  • Positive Friend Influence: Wen’s advice helps Jim and his nephew, Li Ming, improve their relationship with each other

  • Secretly Dying: Unbeknownst to any of the main cast, Mrs. Hong is suffering from severe, life-threatening hypertension.
