The Wedding Episode special of The Smurfs (1981), which aired in early 1985 during the Season 4 broadcast.
In the story, the Cute Mute wood elf Laconia and her beloved Woody come to Papa Smurf to ask if he would be willing to marry them. Papa Smurf agrees to do so, but the simple wedding rapidly grows into a massive affair as everyone tries to make it special. As Maid-of-Honor, Smurfette is right in the thick of it, and all the marriage talk makes her daydream about a husband of her own, but her Imagine Spots about her Smurf neighbors all come crashing down when she considers their obvious flaws.
Gargamel catches wind of the upcoming wedding and sabotages it by creating an Ominous Pipe Organ called the Ghoulliope that will hypnotize the Smurfs into walking to their doom. Laconia, who is immune to the Ghoulliope's Mind-Control Music, rescues Smurfette by plugging her ears and the two of them work together to free the others.
Afterward, Smurfette despairs that their big ceremony was ruined, but Woody and Laconia are just as happy with a simple exchange of vows, showing that the perfect wedding doesn't require the perfect setup, the perfect cake, or even the perfect groom, just love.

- Action Girl: Laconia and Smurfette work together to save the day.
- Apology Gift: The Ghoulliope arrives (ostensibly) as a wedding present from Mother Nature along with her regrets that she can't attend.
- Bags of Letters: Clumsy is given a ton of invites to deliver to the guests of Woody and Laconia's wedding, which are all dumped on top of him by Handy's crane. Clumsy gets the help of the Pussywillow Pixies to deliver the rest of the letters since they could fly.
- Bouquet Toss: Done at the end of the episode, which Smurfette catches.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: The Pussywillow Pixies point out that Smurfette catching the bouquet means she's the next one to get married. She then notices the other Smurfs starting to gather around her and looks nervously at the camera.Smurfette: Uh-oh.
- Bridal Carry: When Smurfette imagines herself being married to Hefty, he carries her in a jog through the village to his house. Smurfette asks if he's doing this because he's so eager to be alone with her, and Hefty says he's doing this because it's good exercise. (This scene is a Shout-Out to Rocky II, where Rocky Balboa carries his new bride Adrian in this fashion.)
- The Cameo: Several of the Smurfs' friends make non-speaking appearances at the wedding, including Michael the Leprechaun, Tharp, Perwinkle, Queen Fauna, Flowerbell, Gunilda, and Dismal Boggs.
- Creepy Wedding Music: Played by the Ghoulliope, naturally. On top of that, it's Mind-Control Music.
- Cut a Slice, Take the Rest: Greedy does this to a test cake that he made in preparation for Woody and Laconia's wedding.
- Disability Immunity: Laconia is the only one immune to Gargamel's magic music. The show suggests that she is deaf (in her first scene, she has her fingers on Woody's pan-pipes to 'hear' them). She seems to understand spoken words, but presumably she is lip-reading.
- Edible Ammunition: Laconia and Smurfette lob handfuls of wedding cake into the pipes to clog up and silence the Ghoulliope.
- Give Away the Bride: Papa Smurf plays this role as well as the minister of Woody and Laconia's wedding, since we don't see whether Laconia has any parents or not.
- Go, Ye Heroes, Go and Die: Brainy goes to give Woody a little pep-talk before the wedding. He makes the groom so anxious that he faints.
- G-Rated Sex: Or in this case, G-Rated Marriage Consummation, as when Smurfette imagines herself being married to Hefty: he takes her into his house, (partially) undresses, and wants them both to get all "hot and sweaty"... by exercising!
- Imagine Spot: Smurfette's dreams of being married to some of her fellow Smurfs, though they all fall apart when she realizes that each of them has "something wrong with him." She even considers Papa Smurf for a second before shaking it off.
- Impossibly Tacky Clothes: Laconia's wedding dress isn't too bad, but Woody's getup makes him look utterly ridiculous. When the crisis is over, they say their vows in their regular outfits.
- Leaf Boat: Clumsy uses a leaf boat to deliver invitations for Woody and Laconia's wedding, with his first stop being the Pussywillow Pixies.
- Meadow Run: In Smurfette's Imagine Spot about being married to Greedy; she is running to him, he is running to the overloaded dinner table.Smurfette: At last, at last!
Greedy: At last, at last... lunch! - Mind-Control Music: All but Laconia fall under the power of the Ghoulliope. They get Mind-Control Eyes and walk blindly to their doom.
