A crew of Freegunners find themselves holding a treasure the likes of which could change the universe.
Tropes:
- And Now for Someone Completely Different: Except for some dialogue and a shot of Lennox's arm, this story doesn't involve the characters in the game and instead it focuses on the people who would usher in a boom time for Freegunners.
- Bittersweet Ending: Cassidy and her crew fly into the Tempest to escape the Guild, leaving their fates unknown. However, before they do they upload the Guild map to every Freegunner crew in the universe, ensuring the Guild will have no further monopoly on space travel.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Cassidy realizes that escaping the guild is impossible and they'll never get to spend the fortune the map is worth, so she uploads it to every pirate in the universe before gunning it into the Tempest, figuring almost certain death is preferable to certain death.
- Left Hanging: The game being a mega-flop ensures that any plot threads established in this episode will likely never be resolved, including the ultimate fate of the Implacable and her crew.
- No MacGuffin, No Winner: With the Tempest in front of them and the Guild behind them, Cassidy decides to just upload the map to every pirate in the universe. Making the map now worthless to the guild.
- Prequel: The story of the Implacable takes place long before the events in the Concord video game. It was the theft and distribution of the safe travel routes that enabled a large growth in Freegunner companies such as the crew from the game.
- Sixth Ranger Traitor: The getaway pilot they hired panics when the fins are all trapped and turns on the crew. He knocks everyone out and intends to hand Cassidy over to the guild once they hammer out a deal.
- Uncertain Doom: The crew of the Implacable hurl themselves into the Tempest. Their fate remains unknown (and with the failure of the game, it's unlikely we'll ever know if they actually made it), though the good luck charm appears to have survived somehow.
- Whole-Plot Reference: A space heist where securing and sending the data takes precedence over the lives of the crew. And it's a prequel.
