Tropes:

• All Trolls Are Different: Mustakrakish the Lake Troll is several stories tall with red skin, gangly limbs, claws, and fangs. It appears to hate (or enjoy destroying) modern technology, or at least high-tension electrical lines, and its only weaknesses seem to be lullabies (which put it to sleep in the bottom of a lake) and sharp objects lodged in its throat. And it's summoned with The Power of Rock. Do note that the Scandinavian members of Dethklok recognize it.
• Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Mustakrakish fits this trope.
• Awesome, but Impractical: The Dethphones. Dethklok designed them while drunk, and Toki complains that they're heavy and the spikes hurt his face.
• Buffy Speak: Nathan's dubious public speaking abilities appear for the first time.
• Chekhov's Gun: The Dethphones.
• Early-Installment Weirdness: The existence of the Finnish troll is treated as totally normal by all the characters, even the Tribunal. In every episode onward, any supernatural creature or phenomenon either goes totally unnoticed by the band or is reacted to with appropriate horror and confusion.
• Face Death with Dignity: Thinking this is the end, Nathan calmly speaks into his tape recorder, "Idea for last song ever: killed by a troll."
• Gutted Like a Fish: A self-inflicted case — Mustakrakish gets a Dethphone stuck in his throat, and while trying to remove it ends up disemboweling himself!
• Hypocritical Humor: Skwissgaar makes fun of Toki for being unable to read sheet music, but then admits that he can't either, blaming "music dyslexia".
• Improvised Weapon: After the banishing ritual fails the band try throwing their Dethphones at the troll, but don't have much range. Except Murderface, who was a bit pissed by the other end of his call.
• Mass "Oh, Crap!": The Finnish crowd has this reaction complete with Big "NO!", after Pickles announces that the lyrics are from an ancient Finnish book of magic.
• Noodle Incident: The "alleged happenings" that prompted the press conference at the beginning of the episode.
• Shout-Out/Stealth Pun: Dethklok awakens a troll in Finland. A Finnish troll. Finntroll.
• Skepticism Failure
  General Crozier: That's impossible. There's no such thing as trolls.
  Senator Stampingston: Then how do you explain the dead unicorns?
• Supernatural Scandinavia: The song that summons Mustakrakish is apparently adapted from Finnish folklore, and the Finns haven't sung it in two thousand years because they still remember what it does.
• Weaksauce Weakness: Mustakrakish is incredibly vulnerable to electronics.
