Anyway, everyone is very sad over the loss of their friend, and Nolan has decided to open up an investigation into the case. As it turns out, Neil's father has decided to pull the I Reject Your Reality card and has pinned the blame on Keating, who is due to be suspended. Once, Charlie is expelled, Todd signs a confession even though he knows that the truth is still out there.
In what is considered to the most famous scene in the movie, the students see Mr. Keating off by standing on their desks and shoutiung "O captain, my captain.". As Nolan finally admits defeat, the emotionally touched Mr. Keating smiles:
"Thank you, my children."
He picks up his suitcase and goes out the door and that's all there is, there isn't anymore.
