• Anachronic Order: Pen Ward confirmed that this episode takes place before Tree Trunks which explains her cameo at the house-warming party.
• Brick Joke: Finn shoos a worm off his bed early on in the episode. At the end of the episode, Finn and Jake find a bunch of similar worms crawling around their living room.
• Captain Obvious: The house hunting song is mostly just a long description of what's happening on screen.
• Curb-Stomp Cushion: Finn and Jake are outmatched by Marceline's giant form but still manage to impress her by landing a couple of hits.
• Disney Death: Jake appears to be killed by Marceline, but he reveals he survived by using his shapeshifting powers to put his blood and guts in his thumb.
• Enemy Eats Your Lunch: After kicking Finn and Jake out, Marceline sucks the filling out of one of Jake's donuts and throws the empty pastry in Finn's face, laughing.
• Early Instalment Weirdness:
  • Finn and Jake just leave BMO behind when they are kicked out by Marceline. This is likely because, at the time, BMO had yet to develop an actual character, and was still just a Living Prop.
  • Marceline is a complete antagonist to Finn and Jake in her debut than in the later depictions of her being a Heroic Neutral.
  • A flashback to Marceline riding a giant goldfish shows her out in the daylight without her hat or umbrella.
• Forced from Their Home: The plot gets started when Marceline kicks Finn and Jake out of their treehouse. After settling in a cave, Marceline tries to claim the cave for herself, but this time Finn fights back.
• Gainax Ending: Finn and Jake reclaim their home... only to find it's been overrun by psychic worms. Then an enormous "King Worm" comes down and hypnotizes Finn and Jake into giving him a hug.
• House-Hunting Montage: Marceline reveals she owns Finn and Jake's treehouse and kicks them out, prompting them to go house hunting. The houses they find are all occupied. One "house" they create even turns out to be actively using a living creature as one of the "walls".
• Noodle Incident: As sung by the narrator during the House-Hunting Montage, Finn and Jake had once stuck their feet in a beehive before and the result didn't end well.
• No, You:
  Marceline: You're pathetic, little boy!
  Finn: You're pathetic!
• Organ Dodge: Jake survives Marceline's bite by moving all his blood and guts into his thumb.
• Our Vampires Are Different: Introduces Ooo's version of vampires, who only suck out the color red as opposed to blood though they can do it if they wish.
• The Power of Friendship: After Marceline steals their second home, Finn declares that home is wherever he's with his buddy Jake. Marceline promptly decides to claim Jake For the Evulz.
• Screams Like a Little Girl: Jake at the beginning of the episode after a window flies open due to the storm which he completely denies and says it was him doing a "scream song".
• "Take That!" Kiss: Marceline gives Finn a peck on the cheek after defeating him in combat.
• Throw the Book at Them: Finn throws the Enchiridion at a worm.
• Travel Montage: The montage of Finn and Jake trying to find a new home.
• Worthy Opponent: After Finn stands up to Marceline and manages to land a blow on her, Marceline decides he's "fun". She not only spares Finn, but lets him and Jake have their old house back.
  Marceline: I haven't fought like that in years! Thanks, Finn!
