Basic Trope: A character succeeds without even actually doing anything.
- Straight: Hiro is supposed to show up to stop Emperor Evulz from using his death ray. However, by the time Hiro shows up, Emperor Evulz ends up tripping and falling to his death from his evil lair.
- Exaggerated: Hiro literally just stays at his house, and Emperor Evulz has an Epic Fail that results in his entire lair blowing to pieces. Hiro is still universally praised, though.
- Downplayed: Hiro does end up in a scuffle with Evulz, but it's very brief.
- Justified:
- Emperor Evulz is Stupid Evil.
- Hiro was prophetized to be witness to Evulz's downfall, not, as the prophet misread it, be responsible for it.
- Evulz suffered from an Epic Fail.
- Hiro is just that darned lucky.
- Evulz and Bad spend so much time fighting each other that they never reached their target before they had to cut their losses.
- Mass Disqualification-Induced Victory.
- Inverted: Hiro tries very hard to do something, but ultimately fails. In other words, Loses by Doing Absolutely Everything.
- Subverted: It seems like Evulz fell to his death by complete accident, but it turns out Hiro showed up and rigged some traps in order to make Evulz do this.
- Double Subverted: That turns out to have been a rumor that news reporters made up, and Hiro just went with it.
- Parodied: Evulz gets tired of waiting for Hiro to show up and just decides to fall to his death himself.
- Zig-Zagged: ???
- Averted: Hiro has to actually do things in order to succeed.
- Lampshaded: "He did nothing! And he won!"
- Defied:
- Alice: "I busted my sorry ass getting to this stupid fortress dragging you along, so you are going to do something, and by which I mean fighting, to assist me in bringing this jackass down, or so help me…!"
- Hiro is told that "the only thing evil needs is for good men to do nothing" and takes it way too much to heart.
