Basic Trope: Virtual assistants misunderstand things that people say, often for humor.

• Straight: Bob's house is broken into, and so he asks his virtual assistant ALIC3 to call the police. It responds, "Now playing songs by The Police".
• Exaggerated:
  • Every single time Bob asks ALIC3 to do something, it misinterprets the command somehow.
  • The command "call the police" is somehow mistaken for "add ten banana cakes to my shopping list".
• Downplayed: Bob asks ALIC3 to take him to a nearby restaurant, and it takes him to a place across the street instead.
• Justified:
  • ALIC3 isn't programmed to understand the command Bob gives it.
  • Bob is a huge fan of The Police and regularly asks ALIC3 to play songs by the band, so the AI has picked up on this.
  • Bob has a thick accent, Speech Impediment, and/or is in an area where it's hard to hear him clearly.
• Inverted: Bob doesn't understand what ALIC3 is trying to tell him.
• Subverted: ALIC3 starts saying, "Now playing songs by The Police... just kidding. Calling 911."
• Double Subverted: ALIC3 starts playing episodes of 9-1-1 instead.
