- The eerie atmosphere of the first game. You are completely alone, with no one to talk to, in an area you do not understand, with the only things that don't attack you on sight are wildlife who flee from you.
- The Catacombs, the burial grounds and home base of the Ancient Warriors, this place is crawling with them with screams from people you cannot see echoing throughout your exploration. There's also the fact that the Pur-Lin smash the walls to ambush you.
- Tobias Bruckner, the main antagonist of Turok: Evolution and Tal'Set's nemesis from Earth. A veteran of the Indian Wars and a bloodthirsty US Army Captain, Bruckner was sent through the same portal as Tal'Set after the former had led a massacre against Tal'Set's tribe. Arriving in the Lost Lands, he allied himself with the evil Lord Tyrannus and was put in charge of his armies. On top of already being a cruel murderer, he's also a racist who views Tal'Set and his people as nothing more than savages, and gleefully leads the Sleg forces in their genocidal conquest of the world from atop the back of his mechanised T-Rex.
- The level "The Shortest Straw" from the 2008 game, where you are sent to investigate a light in the distance. On the way, you witness unseen subterranean predators kill several raptors in your path before spitting out the bloody remains later on down the trail. When you finally reach the light, it's revealed to be an APC that was pulled halfway into the ground with its headlights still on, and after checking out a nearby facility, you're suddenly attacked by the creatures that did it: giant bugs that tunnel under the door and attack you. The entire level is a massive shift from the action-shooter genre that the game has been up until that point, diving right into survival horror instead.
- A stand-out moment in Seeds of Evil is Oblivion's speech when you first enter one of the Fake Portals. The hoarse-throated English version of this speech may be frightening in and of itself, but the electronically-distorted Japanese dub
is also as scary as hell.Oblivion: SEE THIS, HUMAN! Powers beyond the comprehension of flesh... have been set in motion. The Primagen must not be stopped. The Totems must fall. The balance must falter. Chaos must commence. We are the darkness. We are the unseen. WE ARE OBLIVION! That which has been set in motion... cannot be stopped. Your deeds... your life... YOUR VERY EXISTENCE falls under the great shadow of Oblivion! Your failure is inevitable... - Speaking of... the box art for Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion shows the spectre of Joseph Fireseed in fire, screaming in torment between his living siblings. This looks so horrible in and of itself.
- Some of the background sounds for "Seeds of evil" are horrifying. In particular, you can sometimes hear the sound of a solder's horrified screams as he is being attacked in the first level.
