This game explores the ugly side of life as a stray, so things do get pretty dark at times.
- Ursus. A dead serious Diabolical Dog Catcher who will capture any stray he gets his hands on. And he does it all in a very frightening and sadistic way.
- Early on, the player sees a billboard advertising the dog pound. It depicts Ursus happily holding some dogs and cats. But the pets are positioned with Ursus's body in such a way that it looks like his shadow on the wall behind him has devil horns and a pointed tail. Just an early hint that this guy is not your friend.
- Ursus provides a Jump Scare in the Gothic Quarter. Moka crawls under multiple cars in a row. After several seconds of silent crawling, Ursus suddenly reaches his arm out beneath the car Moka is currently under, right in front of Moka, while a Scare Chord plays.
- At one point, we see Trasto alone in the city at night, searching for Moka. Suddenly, it cuts to Ursus, watching Trasto in the side mirror of his truck. All we see is Ursus's arm and the side mirror, but it's still a chilling scene. Ursus is clearly stalking the poor dog, waiting for the right time to grab him.
- It's heavily implied that Ursus has captured several pets and kept them in the dog pound at some point, but we never see or hear any sign of them except for their Missing Pet flyers. We see from the chalkboard in the dog pound that Ursus earns money from each pet he brings in, but it's unknown what happens to them after they enter the dog pound. Are they even still alive?
- Ursus's Villainous Breakdown. After crashing his truck, he slowly ambles towards Moka with a Slasher Smile. If he catches Moka, there's a short scene of Ursus rubbing his hands gleefully before reaching down to grab Moka. It's not exactly clear what he does to Moka after this, but considering his deranged state, it's probably best that we don't find out.
- The rats. An Always Chaotic Evil group of rodents who act as Ursus's minions. They're perfectly willing to attack and even kill animals bigger than them.
- Glucorat. A fictional, liquid drug that Ursus got the rats addicted to. This is the stuff that makes them so violent.
- When Ursus releases the rats from his truck in the Financial District, there are a few frames where the rats are drawn in a rather detailed style with Black Eyes of Crazy that makes them look especially disturbing.
- The way the rats turn against Ursus in the end after he gets covered in Glucorat. Although there is a Big Ball of Violence to provide a Gory Discretion Shot, it's heavily implied that the rats devour him alive. We hear him scream in agony, and there's a closeup of his hand twitching. If he is indeed dead, that would easily make this THE most Family-Unfriendly Death in this game.
- In the forest, there are three hunters in towers. Run in front of them when they're aiming, and they will shoot you to death. The game doesn't show anything graphic; instead, it just cuts to a black screen as the shot is heard. But still, this is a rather dark way to die for such a wholesome game. It's unclear if the hunters are okay with shooting a cat, or if they just saw a small mammal running in front of them and pulled the trigger on instinct.
