Tricularia is a world very far from anything we know, and where familiar beings are twisted into incomprehensible horrors just by the local laws of physics. And when not even the colossal arthropods that call the place home find it truly safe, what hope does a simple human have?
- Macrovolute territory from the human perspective is definitely no joke, as not only is there a chance of getting captured or killed by a giant arthropod that perceives you as a mere pest, there's a host of hostile demivolutes that like the taste of human flesh, and an environment directly hostile to human life.
- Demivolute cows.
- They're not only horrifying to look at, being essentially flesh stretched out on a skeleton and twisted into an almost insectoid shape, but they also actively hunt and ambush humans, using their horns to mash their prey into bits small enough to fit inside their mouths. One Hiver actually gets impaled by one!
- Simply the concept of even a perfectly normal herbivorous cow having a chance of giving birth to a mutated, woman-eating predator is pretty horrifying.
- Gregorsa's presentations always end with a single slide of disarrayed, slightly ominous text, seemingly words of his that weren't meant to be read. They have cryptic hints towards something that happened in the Professor's past, but there's nothing concrete yet. Then there's Episode 10's slide (pictured above), where a fond reminiscence of the forests of Dulsin is followed by that (complete with the music spiking in volume), and zero elaboration on what that eye even was or who it belonged to.
- Rev Storm has stated that those convicted of crimes deemed serious by the ants are "processed for protein", or in other words, ripped apart and fed to their larvae, and in some cases the victim gets to stay alive throughout the process. We get to see this happen in Episode 11, where poor old Clef gets dismembered for the crime of being a claviger beetle right in front of the bombardier beetle he was having a fight with. It's also in-universe Nightmare Fuel, as it becomes evident that the bombardier had been hiding Clef in his swarm, essentially secretly adopting him as a brother, specifically to avoid this. He just stands staring in numb shock as the lead ant casually hands him the protein package he and Clef had been arguing over before the ants appeared.
