Hella is an American math rock band formed in Sacramento, California in 2001. The band's primary members are Spencer Seim on guitar and Zach Hill on drums. Following the release of their album Tripper in 2011, the band appears to have gone on indefinite hiatus.

The tropes that people read when they think no one's looking:

• All Drummers Are Animals: It is Zach Hill we're talking about.
• Distinct Double Album: Church Gone Wild/Chirpin' Hard. The former is performed exclusively by Zach Hill, and the latter exclusively by Spencer Seim.
• Epic Rocking: "City Folk Sitting, Sitting," "Earth's First Evening Jimi Hendrix-less and Pissed," "We Was Just Boys, Living In a Dead Ass German Shepard," "World Series," "Dull Fangs," "There's No 666 in Outer Space" are all over six minutes in length. And then there's "Chirpin Hard," which 17 minutes long.
• Everything Is an Instrument: During some live performances Zach Hill would use sawblades, trash cans, and mailboxes as drums.
• Instrumentals: Most of their material, excluding Church Gone Wild/Chirpin Hard and There's No 666 in Outer Space.
• Long-Runner Line-up: Other members have come and gone, but Zach Hill and Spencer Seim have always been the core of the band.
• Miniscule Rocking: A lot of their songs are less than 3 minutes in length.
• Nobody Loves the Bassist: Initially, they didn't even have a bassist.
• Uncommon Time: Used a lot, which isn't surprising as it is a math rock band.
