Now just like in a song from days of yore
Here you come knocking, knocking on my door
Well, I've never met a girl like you before
Edwyn Stephen Collins (born 23 August 1959) is a Scottish singer and songwriter from Edinburgh.
He first started as the co-founder and vocalist of the Post-Punk band Orange Juice from 1979 to 1985 where he started a solo career after the band split up.
He released his debut album Hope and Despair in 1989, though he didn't become notable until his third album Gorgeous George in 1994 with "A Girl Like You".
In 2005, Collins suffered two cerebral haemorrhages, just as reinterest in Orange Juice's catalog was growing, thanks to bands like Franz Ferdinand and Space citing him as a influence. Miraculously, he survived, and after a lengthy period of recovery and rehabiliation, was able to resume his solo career in 2007.
