They are burningly passionate about everything that they do. They give their all in absolutely everything, regardless of the task. They do not know how to be half-hearted or lackadaisical about anything they care about. These characters are Hot-Blooded.
Using the power of guts, determination, and badassery they throw themselves headfirst into the worst situations imaginable and come out on top through sheer force of will and often have a strong tendency to do impressive things. Even non hot-blooded characters or the nicest ones can occasionally have their own hot-blooded incidents; this is frequently their Moment of Awesome.
Beware if they go into an Unstoppable Rage or Tranquil Fury; someone's really managed to piss them off. Triple that for elemental or Personality Powers; they're likely Playing with Fire. Especially common in the Super Robot Genre. The hot-blooded person is usually, though not always, identifiable by a mane of scarlet hair and/or Hot-Blooded Sideburns. A common trait of The Ace and, to a lesser degree, the Boisterous Bruiser. This trait is a staple of Choleric characters in a Four-Temperament Ensemble.

- Ax-Crazy, if the hot-blooded character is mentally deranged.
- Fiery Redhead, when the trope applies to redhead (often female) characters.
- Hair-Trigger Temper, when a character gets angered or irritated easily.
- Large Ham, which is about extreme expression, with or without extreme emotion.
- Genki Girl, which is about being excitable.
- Keet, which is the Spear Counterpart to Genki Girl.
- Macho Latino, when the trope concerns hypermasculine men of Hispanic origin.
- Rambunctious Italian, when the trope concerns Italians/people of Italian descent in particular.
Contrast The Ever-Calm, The Stoic, Mellow Fellow, and The Spock.
Not to be confused with My Blood Runs Hot, which is when a character has literal hot blood, though at least some of these characters may be metaphorically Hot-Blooded as well.

He believes that he must put his heart into everything because that is the honorable thing to do, whether that be a posing contest or moving boxes.
- Helluva Boss:
- Blitzo is bombastic, fast-talking, and enthusiastic about any mission he’s given, having boundless amounts of stamina and not hesitating for a moment to snap at anyone who rubs him the wrong way for whatever reason.
- Millie is just as energetic as her boss and arguably even more easy to excite and rile up. She loves to battle whether it's competing in the Harvest Moon Festival or slashing her way through armies of targets as part of a hit she's been given.
- Yang Xiao Long of RWBY not only has a fiery temper, but she actually creates fire when she's sufficiently pissed off, as seen here
. Her temper is occasionally Deconstructed; she's very susceptible to Trash Talk and quickly gets frustrated when a fight doesn't go her way, and it led to Neopolitan defeating her easily and almost killing her. It also allowed her to be framed for breaking Mercury's leg: although Yang is a nice enough girl and was tricked into doing it via illusion, her foul temper made the scenario very believable to the crowds watching, leading to her arrest and disgrace. A later episode deconstructs this even further, with Yang losing an arm to Adam when he baits her into attacking recklessly by stabbing Blake. At the end of it all, she falls into a Heroic BSoD that she takes the entirety of Volume 4 to recover from.
- In X-Ray & Vav, X-Ray, compared to his real-life counterpart, Ray, is easily this. To the point where he does stupid (and destructive) stuff.
