Some groups of people are huge. Some might be so large that especially tall humans might be short by their standards, while others might consider beings who are the size of buildings to be average. However, even groups of giants have those who they consider giants.
The Giant Among Giants is a being that is a member of a race of giants, but is giant even by their standards. These individuals often have a special position within their societies, such as being leaders, heroes and champions, or legendary figures. If giants have a religion, their gods might be noted as being this, with the giant race(s) being lesser versions of them.
Opposite Trope to Large Runt. See also Always a Bigger Fish. Some Kaiju can be this. David Versus Goliath can occur if a giant has a Behemoth Battle with an even bigger giant.

Anime & Manga
- Attack on Titan: The vast majority of titans are between 7 and 15 meters tall while standing, which makes the appearance of the 60-meter-tall Colossus Titan such a shock to humanity when it attacks Shiganshina. Much later on, it is revealed that there were a lot more titans in this size range, but all of them have been entombed inside the very walls protecting Eldia from the roaming smaller specimen outside. The largest titan in history, in fact, is either the Founding Titan Ymir Fritz (who has been the largest ever to walk upright, at 240 m tall), or Eren Yeager's Doomsday Titan form (which reaches 270 m in height — and over 400 m in length, being barely even humanoid anymore).
- In Brave Exkaiser, Dino Geist, the leader of the Geisters is absolutely gigantic. His already pretty dang big Humongous Mecha minions only come up to his ankles.
- Digimon Frontier: The Beast Spirit forms of the heroes and the villains come in various sizes, but the largest has to be Sepirothmon. A giant, living sepiroth, he trapped the heroes inside his spheres that house a Pocket Dimension in each one.
- Dragon Ball:
- Dragon Ball GT: Compared to the sizes of Shenron and Porunga, Ultimate Shenron, the Eternal Dragon of the Black Star Dragon Balls is far larger than them combined. His head alone is larger than Kami's Lookout, if not the same size.
- Dragon Ball Super: Super Shenron is shown in his base size to be as large as the galaxies surrounding both Universe 6 and 7 combined. Though he is capable of reducing his size, shrinking down to the size of the arena after the Tournament of Power. According to Beerus, the form they must deliver a wish in is the core of his presence, or rather the nucleus, instead of having to deliver it in his true massive form.
- Godzilla: Singular Point: Godzilla Ultima is the largest of the series' Kaiju, with the others falling into the single or double digit in meters range, while Godzilla Ultima starts at forty-five meters tall and ends up over one hundred meters tall after absorbing enough Archetype.
- Mazinger Z:
- While all of the Mechanical Beasts are huge, most being around the size of the Humongous Mecha used by the heroes, Titan G9 and Giant F3 are so huge that the heroes' Mecha look human sized compared to them.
- Every incarnation of Hell King Gordon dwarfs every other Mechanical Beast, and by extension Mazinger Z, in height. Even the smallest incarnation from Mazinkaiser is still around two to three times larger than Mazinkaiser, who is already larger than both Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger.
- In Shin Mazinger, the Great General of Darkness towers over Mazinger Z in height compared to its appearance in Great Mazinger and Mazinkaiser where it is approximately the same height as the titular mechas of their respective shows. The Great General appears to tower over its Seven Generals as well who are also the same approximate size as Great Mazinger.
- Most of the dragons in Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid have true forms that are a few stories tall. Lucoa on the other hand is much, much larger (as in "several times bigger than a mountain" large), with even her eyes individually dwarfing Tohru's entire body.
- One Piece:
- The average adult giant in general is around 20 meters tall, though different tribes have different averages among them. The ancient giants were an old tribe of giants who were said to be around 60 meters tall on average.
- Due to eating the Huge-Huge Fruit, Sanjuan Wolf is capable of growing to a maximum size of 180 meters. Making him the largest giant in the One Piece world.
- While most Fishmen and Mermen are not notably much taller then humans, there are some who are far taller then others, such as King Neptune and Princess Shirahoshi, two mermen the size of Giants, and Wadatsumi, a fishman even taller then an Ancient Giant like Oars.
- Pokémon the Series: Pokémon are occasionally shown to be far larger or smaller than what is stated in the Pokédex entires. In some cases this means Pokémon that are already colossal in size tend to be far larger. Brock's Onix is shown to be nearly 12 meters long compared to the standard 8.8 meters of most Onix. This makes the giant Onix Bruno catches more impressive as it dwarfs Brock's own Onix. This is frequently done to Legendary Pokémon to make them seem more imposing and powerful. For example, In "The Scuffle of Legends", Groudon is shown to be over twenty feet tall as opposed to the 11'06 stated in its entires.
- The animal spirits/pagan gods of Spice and Wolf take the shape of gigantic animals as their true form, with Holo's being a very intimidating, building-sized wolf. However, any and all of them were absolutely dwarfed by the Great-Bear-Who-Hunts-the-Moon, a veritable Eldritch Abomination of a god who was larger than mountains and could probably stomp Holo like an insect without even noticing.
- Versus (2022): Ginbak, chief of the Titans, is Large and in Charge of a race of giants. Due to Your Size May Vary, his height varies between "head and shoulders" or "twice as tall" compared to his closest followers (fan estimates place him at around 25 meters tall, with regular Titans officially varying between 5-20 meters).
- Violence Jack: Violence Jack is a large man who is always at least 2 meters tall. The Kanto region has the occasional gang leader and thugs who tower over the average citizens but except for the Slum King, all of them are still dwarfed by Jack.
- Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's: The Aesir Gods as a whole are huge monsters, towering even over the Signer Dragons' evolved forms with Thor's Hammer being larger than their entire bodies. The largest of the Aesir is Odin, who is larger than New Domino City itself and spends the entire duel he's summoned as a Background Boss and attacks mainly by thrusting his massive spear from far away.

- Godzilla: Rulers of Earth: The villainous Trilopods are as big as any other kaiju. However, their Hive Queen, Magita, is so gigantic, she's the size of a kaiju even compared to the other kaijus.

Just about the only characters who outsize him are Wun Wun, Drogon, and Cersei once she becomes a daemon princess.

- Discworld:
- Constable Bluejohn is a troll (who on the Disc are seven feet tall and made of living stone) so huge he can clear a riot just by walking down the street and once stopped a speeding train as a passenger by grabbing the mountainside next to it.
- There's also an inversion with Awf'lly Wee Billy Bigchin of the Nac Mac Feegle. The average Feegle is about six inches high, while Billy is three inches at most.

Awf'lly Wee Billy Bigchin mac Feegle: Only for my height, mistress. - Kong: King of Skull Island: Supplementary in-universe notes indicate that King Kong was exceptionally large even among the gigantic sizes of the Kong species. While Kongs historically averaged about twenty feet tall, King Kong stood over thirty feet tall. As King Kong was the Last of His Kind by the time Western explorers arrived on Skull Island in 1933, they initially had no frame of reference.
- The Magician's Nephew: Downplayed. When Polly and Digory enter the ancient city of Charn, which has been abandoned and ruined for centuries, they enter the hall of images, which is full of people who have been magically frozen in time. They notice that everyone is taller than the people of their world, but that Queen Jadis is taller than all the others, making her especially impressive when she comes to life.
- In Night Dragon, one of the many enchanted weapons you need to obtain to slay the titular Draconic Abomination is a shield from a tribe of Frost Giants, all of them which are huge. And turns out the shield is in possession of Bagghurd, the biggest Frost Giant towering over the rest of his clan that you need to defeat in battle.
- In The Silmarillion, we have Ancalagon the Black, largest and greatest of the fire-dragons of Morgoth. While dragons like Smaug were pretty big and lived inside mountains, Ancalagon was the size of a mountain; when he was killed, his fall crushed Morgoth's main base (itself a trio of mountains each taller than Everest) beneath his corpse.
- Ultramarines: After their various Super-Soldier modifications, Space Marines usually stand around 7-8 feet tall. Pasanius, The Big Guy, ended up so large he couldn't fit into any of the Powered Armor in the Ultramarines armory and had to have a brand new suit custom-built just for him. By The Swords of Calth, he's had it replaced with a modified set of Mark X Tacticus Armor built for Primaris Marines, who stand a head or two taller than regular Space Marines, making it just right for Pasanius.
Live-Action TV
- Kamen Rider:
- In the 21st century series, there is a less-than-routine trend to have the Monster of the Week transform into an enlarged, non-humanoid "berserk" form which is roughly the size of a large house. The crossovers with Super Sentai throw larger monsters into the mix.
- OOO, Den-O, All Riders: Let's Go Kamen Riders: The final form of the Great Leader of Shocker, Rock Great Leader, stands at a whopping 4,000 m, taller than Japan's Mount Fuji. In this form, he is so large that even King Dark, who is himself iconic for being a rare example of a titanic villain in Kamen Rider, appears miniscule by comparison. Such is the power of Rock Great Leader that he can shatter the surrounding earth by merely existing, causing King Dark and his other minions to fall in the resulting chasms. Ultimately, it takes a combined finisher made up of 40 years worth of Kamen Riders to destroy him.
- Kamen Rider × Super Sentai: Super Hero Taisen: The Big Machine is a combination of the Supervillain Lairs of the Shocker-Zangyack Alliance, the Crisis Fortress and the Gigant Horse. It is so large that it can hold standard giant monsters from Super Sentai and crush them in its hands like dolls.
- Kamen Rider × Super Sentai × Space Sheriff: Super Hero Taisen Z: Demon King Psycho is a downplayed example since it visibly dwarfs Kyoryuzin but is not on the level of something like the Big Machine or Rock Great Leader.
- Kamen Rider Gaim: Inves can assume fairly large berserk forms by consuming Helheim fruits. The crossover with Ressha Sentai ToQger plays this trope straight when a humanoid Inves happens to grow into a Sentai-level giant by eating a fruit. Fortunately, ToQ-Oh is on hand to deal with it.
- Heisei Rider vs. Showa Rider: Kamen Rider Taisen feat. Super Sentai: The true form of the Leader of Badan (who is incidentally another incarnation of Shocker's Leader) is a large, skeletal dinosaur which dwarfs Kyoryu Red's Zyudenryu Gabutyra. The size difference between is akin to that between an adult Tyrannosaurus and a juvenile. Before that, Kamen Rider J, who is distinguished by his ability to grow to giant size, plays the trope straight relative to the setting of Gaim when he fights Gaim in Zawame City. Gaim prevails over J by using his Suika Arms, despite being able to fit in the palm of J's hand.
- Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Drive & Gaim: Movie War Full Throttle: The true form of Megahex evidently dwarfs Rock Great Leader and is the largest villain in Kamen Rider history, and one of the largest in toku history, by virtue of being a sentient planet.
- Kamen Rider Drive: Roidmudes can transform into non-humanoid berserk forms by taking in Viral Cores. The crossover with Shuriken Sentai Ninninger plays this trope straight when Kyuemon uses his mallet to grow a pair of Roidmudes to Sentai-level size, making them large enough that one of them catches the man-sized Drive in their hand like a human would hold a small pencil. Naturally, the Ninningers are on hand to deal with the Roidmudes using their Shurikenjin.
- Super Sentai/Power Rangers: This trope comes into play in the franchise thanks to their tradition of combining Humongous Mecha into larger Giant Robos (designated as "Megazords" in Power Rangers) and combining yet more mecha and even whole Robos together, with exceptionally large combinations being designated as "Ultrazords" in Power Rangers. There are also Boy Robos, so named because they are proportioned like children compared to standard Robos. On the other end of that scale are the enormous Base Robos.
- Dengeki Sentai Changeman: Star King Bazoo, the leader of the Gozma Star League, is an ancient Eldritch Abomination masquerading as a planet, the Gozma Star. Even in his illusory facade as a Humanoid Abomination, he towers over the Gozma's flagship Gozmard as well as when the Changemen confront him on the Gozma Star.
- Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman: The Big Bad and Final Boss, the Galactic Super Beast, is easily the largest monster in the season. A Freeze-Frame Bonus shows the Fiveman's Max Magma base is tiny in scale compared to it, and another size comparison is further shown when the Super Five Robo flies into its mouth and finally destroys it from inside.
- Gosei Sentai Dairanger/Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: Daijinryuu / Serpentera is an immense Chinese dragon which has the power to destroy a planet and is so large that it can stamp on the Rangers' Humongous Mecha like a toy underfoot. This makes it about as large as the Galactic Super Beast, if not more, and thus one of the largest beings in both Super Sentai and Power Rangers for the longest time. In Dairanger, Daijinryuu was a divine being whose aggressive neutrality threatened to destroy the Earth if the Dairangers did not end their war with the Gorma Tribe. In Mighty Morphin, Serpentera was the superweapon of Lord Zedd, which was rarely used on account of its vast power requirements. Infamously, the trope was subverted when Serpentera was brought Back for the Dead and vastly scaled-down for "Forever Red" the 10th anniversary team-up episode in Power Rangers Wild Force. Despite it being stressed that Serpentera still has "more than enough firepower to destroy Earth", it appears vastly smaller than it originally did back in Mighty Morphin. Ultimately, Serpentera is destroyed not even by a Megazord but by the Red Wild Force Ranger's new bike, the Wild Force Rider, which is presented as being just big enough to fit down its throat.
- Chouriki Sentai Ohranger/Power Rangers Zeo: King Pyramider Battle Formation/The Zeo Ultrazord Warrior Formation are four times larger than the Humongous Mecha used by the Rangers, which results in it dwarfing the any giant monsters it fights.
- Power Rangers in Space: Dark Specter is the leader of the United Alliance of Evil and is alleged to be the size of a planet. Indeed, it takes a Earth-killing missile fired by Darkonda to destroy him. More accurately, however, he would only be the size of a small planetoid. For comparison, Astronema's space station, the Dark Fortress, is only slightly smaller than Dark Specter's head, and his jaw is shown accommodating the one-man Velocifighter piloted by Darkonda much like a human would eat a cookie; had he been the size of the Earth, the fighter should not be visible at all.
- Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger/Power Rangers S.P.D.:
- DekaBase Robo / Delta Command Megazord is an example of an "Enormous Base Robo"; the size difference between it and the Dekaranger Robo / Delta Squad Megazord is a akin to that of a father and son.
- In the Grand Finale of SPD, Omni breaks out the superweapon he had been working on all season; the Magnificence, a robot made from Emperor Gruumm's ship. It's even larger than the Delta Command Megazord.
- Mahou Sentai Magiranger/Power Rangers Mystic Force: Meemy/Imperious has such potent magic that when he uses his magic to make himself grow he, unlike every other monster the rangers face who is the same size as MagiKing/the Titan Megazord, is so huge the respective Humongous Mecha only comes up to his foot. In both shows the rangers are saved eventually when their new ally, the cat-like genie Smoky/Jenji, reveals he can also grow that big. And for some reason, neither character ever grows that large again for the remainder of the series.
- GoGo Sentai Boukenger/Power Rangers Operation Overdrive: Ryuuwon / Moltor uses Uchide's Mallet / Thor's Hammer to enlarge three of his Jaryuu Soldiers / Lava Lizards to an immense size which towers over Ultimate DaiBouken / DriveMax Ultrazord, to the point that it can barely reach up to their knees as the giant mooks overwhelm it with sheer brute strength. Just before the Rangers can be stomped on, Bouken Silver / Mercury Ranger steps in and snatches the mallet, which he uses to enlarge Ultimate DaiBouken / DriveMax Megazord to match the mooks, with their Rangers' firepower destroying two of them. Silver / Mercury then gets into his own SirenBuilder / Flashpoint Megazord and, rather than enlarge it, he uses it to destroy the last mook by jumping down its throat and blowing it up from the inside.
- Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger/Power Rangers Super Megaforce:
- The Black Cross King from Gokaiger Goseiger Super Sentai 199 Hero Great Battle already grows giant in order to fight the heroes, but when defeated, he just transforms into an even bigger, more monstrous form, the Black Cross Colossus. The Colossus easily dwarfs both his enlarged minions as well as all the Sentai Robos.
- Kanzen GokaiOh / Ultimate Legendary Megazord, the final combination of the series, is a downplayed example since it stands taller than any Zangyack / Armada member it faced but is not exceptionally large by franchise standards.
- Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters/Power Rangers Beast Morphers:
- While most of the enemy Mecha in the series are the same size as the Rangers' Megazords, Messiah/Evox's final form is so large that the Rangers' Megazords come up to its shins and he's able to pick them up like toys.
- Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger vs. Go-Busters: Space War God Voldos is an immense being which towers over the Sentai Robos. Voldos was adapted into the Beast Morphers team-up episode, "Grid Connection", as the Chimera Zord piloted by Evox. The Chimera Zord is said to be eight times larger than Serpentera, making it one of the largest entities in Power Rangers.
- Ressha Sentai ToQger: The ToQ Rainbow is composed of all the team's primary and auxilliary Ressha docking into the train terminal-like Hyper Ressha. When standing upright, it it is three times the size of the enemies's own mecha.
- Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger: Unsurprisingly, Cube Whale is the largest of the Cube Animals, both in cube and animal forms, more than three times the normal size. It is also the only Cube Animal that transforms into a robot on its own (whereas the usual combination needs at least three Cube Animals). It can still combine with the other Animals to form the Zyuohgers' final mech, with Cube Whale making up most of its upper body.
- Power Rangers Dino Force Brave: Giga Bragigas is the largest of the Power Dinos and its humanoid formation, Gigant BrachioKing, is truly to a sight to behold. Jinarik, a standard enlarged monster, is just about at eye-level with the robot's knee. On top of that, Giga Bragigas can combine with the Power Dinos of the Five-Man Band to form Brave Gigant TyrannoKing.
- Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger: In the finale, Dagded becomes the largest ever Sentai villain when he grows to a size matching that of the universe. In order to fight him, God King-Ohger in turn becomes the largest ever Sentai mecha when it enlarges to match his size in what is known as "Transcendent Storming Ultimate Perfect King-Ohger". The only reason the Final Battle doesn't destroy the universe itself is because it takes place within Dagded's extra-dimensional domain.
- No.1 Sentai Gozyuger: Lex, the Calamity, is seen towering over the 49 Sentai Robos in the Universe War, much like the Black Cross Colossus did before him. Since it takes everything up to a 50th Robo in order to match him, he is potentially equal to or greater than Dagded in terms of power.
- Walking with Dinosaurs:
- A variant in "Time of the Titans": The Diplodocus creche meets a Brachiosaurus out on the fern prairies, which towers over them. However, the series emphasizes that, while Brachiosaurus is one of the tallest sauropods, Diplodocus is longer.
- "Cruel Sea": The old male Liopleurodon is 80 feet long and is "big even for his kind". This is one of the more sensationalist elements of the series.
- "Giant of the Skies": The narration notes that the pterosaurs of the early Cretaceous commonly grew wingspans of 6 meters, but Ornithocheirus (or rather, Tropeognathus), with a colossal 10 meter wingspan, dwarfs them all. This was another aspect of the show that was sensationalized on both sides — 6-meter wingspans were not common among pterosaurs in the early Cretaceous, and Tropeognathus only had an 8-meter wingspan (though this does make it the largest non-azhdarchid pterosaur ever known).
Professional Wrestling
- André the Giant: In a profession of absolutely massive human beings, he was one of the biggest by far, towering over everyone else. His height and weight worked against him, such as when he passed out in a hotel lobby and couldn't be moved.
Tabletop Games
- Warhammer 40,000: Orks as a whole are incredibly large, with the average Ork Boy being around six and a half feet tall. Orks continue to grow as they win battles, with the largest Orks, known as Warbosses, being considered the leaders, and there is no upper limit to an Ork's height, with Warbosses being able to reach ten feet tall or greater, and the largest known Ork, the Beast, was said to be thirty-three feet tall.
- Warhammer Fantasy: Wulfrik the Wanderer is stated to be huge even for a Norscan, who tend to be tall and brawny.
Toys
- Transformers: While the Transformers are a race of giant robot aliens, some are noted to be large even for their kind.
- Invoked in The Transformers (Marvel) with Fortress Maximus. When originally introduced he was slightly taller than his subordinates. However, after the disastrous misadventure to Nebulous where his only accomplishment was to leave the planet in ruins, he had himself rebuilt en route to Earth to increase his size and power. By the time the upgrade is complete, he's so large that his Headmaster partner Galen must first combine with the Autobot Cerebros, who then forms Fort Max's head. It should be noted that Cerebros is an average-sized Autobot, meaning Fort Max was truly gigantic. Unfortunately the artwork almost never managed to portray this, normally depicting Fort Max as slightly taller than, say, Powermaster Optimus Prime.
- Sentinel Prime was originally a throwaway name in The Transformers (Marvel) as the previous holder of the Creation Matrix before Optimus Prime. When he was later utilised in Dreamwave Productions Transformers material, he was described as "a giant among giants" and towering over his fellow Transformers.
- Back in The Transformers, in "Heavy Metal War" the Autobot Hound projected a hologram of a massive Autobot who towered above Devastator. Fun Publications, in their take on pre-war Cybertron, would introduce him as an actual character named Halonix Maximus. His great claim to fame is his huge stature that allows him to literally look down on his fellow Autobots. Even this impressive size wasn't enough to save him against the combiner Bruticus.
- In the G1 toyline, Fortress Maximus was the largest Transformer ever (being roughly 55-56 cm tall and weighing 4.5-5 kg). In a Japanese magazine meant to play him up due to his major role in Transformers: The★Headmasters, it's even claimed that where Metroplex (i.e. Autobot City) is 800 metres tall, robot mode Fortress Maximus is three times his size at a whopping 2.4-3 kilometres tall. The anime itself did not depict this at all, as Fortress (who forms the head of Fortress Maximus) is the roughly the same height as all the other Autobots. However, Fortress Maximus was still undoubtably the largest Autobot in the series.
- G1 Fortress Maximus held the record of "largest Transformers toy" until 2013, which saw the release of Thrilling 30 Metroplex, who edged his toy out at about 61 cm tall. And that figure held the record for a mere three years, when Titans Return Fortress Maximus was released in 2016 at around 63-65 cm. And that record was held for another five years when 2021 saw the release of the 69 cm tall, 7.3 kg War For Cybertron Unicron, who is expected to stay the largest Transformers figure ever released.
- Also from the G1 toyline, Predaking (the Predacon Combiner) was notably the largest of the original combiner toys. This was partially due to his status as the ultimate Combiner of the time, but mostly due to the fact that the figures that made up his arms and legs were as large as the figure that made up his torso, unlike other Combiner toys that had limbs made of smaller figures (or in the case of the Constructicons and Monster Pretenders, a torso that was made of two figures).
- IDW Publishing: In the IDW iteration of the Transformers, eventually the concept of the Point One Percenters is introduced. As the name suggests, these are extremely rare Cybertronians who are simply born larger and stronger than their contemporaries. Examples include Optimus Prime, Megatron, Grimlock and Fortress Maximus. The comic also features Titans, absolutely massive Transformers that act as large cities and spaceships for normal Transformers. Metroplex in the 2005 IDW continuity, for example was stated to stand 15 km tall in robot mode.
- Transformers: Fall of Cybertron:
- Even for a race of giant robot aliens, Grimlock stands out for being the tallest non-combining playable character. He towers over even the likes of Optimus Prime and Megatron, who aren't exactly short themselves.
- In terms of pure height, the Combaticon combiner Bruticus is the largest playable character in the game. However, it's shown that a bit of mass shifting is involved. The individual Combaticons are slightly bigger than the average Cybertronian, but when combined into Bruticus his fist alone is already bigger than an average Cybertronian.

- In real life, as of 2026 Transformers toys are sold according to price points, those being Deluxes, Voyagers, Leaders, Commanders and Titans. Generally they're in scale with each other, so a Voyager class toy is usually taller than a Deluxe etc. However, on occasion some toys are noted as being bigger or taller than their price point. For example, Siege Ironhide (and those toys based on his) was a Deluxe but in terms of height was close to a Voyager.
- Taken to it's greatest extremes by Primus and Unicron, who are, in fiction, the size of, and indeed transform into planets.
- Transformers: Cybertron
- One of the Transformers colonies introduced in the Anime is Gigantion or The Giant Planet. As the name suggests, exposure to their cyber planet key transformed the inhabitants into giants, towering over the normal Transformers. Ironically the planet was also populated by Mini-Cons, who were about the size of humans.
- After stealing the Omega Lock Starscream uses it's power to transform himself into a giant around the same size as the Gigantions. For a single episode he is further resized to match the size of Primus, before returning to his previous enhanced size.
- Briefly, using the power of the Gigantion Cyber Planet Key Landmine is transformed into a giant to go toe to toe with Starscream before shrinking back after giving the key to Optimus.
- In the final battle for the Omega Lock Galvatron uses it to transform himself and his followers to Gigantion size to make up for the fact that they are enormously outnumbered. They too revert after the battle.
Video Games
- Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO: Unlike previous games in the Budokai Tenkaichi series, giant characters are closer to their canon sizes rather than being the same size. This results in Janemba towering over every other giant character in the game, even the Great Apes and Hirudegarn.
- Elden Ring: The Ancient Dragons of Farum Azula are already very large, being around 50 meters long from head to tail. The Ancient Dragon Gransax, however, absolutely dwarfed them, being estimated at over 320 meters. He's so massive that his dead body, collapsed over the royal capital of Leyndell, covers about a third of the whole city and can be seen from miles away.
- Final Fantasy XIV: The yok huy in Dawntrail are a race of giants over twice the size of the average human. Their leader, Gurfurlur, is easily twice the size of the average yok huy. The size discrepancy is explained as a genetic defect caused by a plague some time in the past, stunting the growth of future generations with few exceptions. In other words, Gurfurlur isn't a giant giant, everyone else is a dwarf giant.
- Pokémon Sword and Shield: Dynamax and Gigantimax Pokémon come in a variety of sizes, with some being in the mid- or high double digits of feet, while others are over 100 feet tall. Eternamax Eternatus by contrast, is 328'01 feet tall, which is stated to be due to absorbing much more energy than is used by a regular Dynamax.
- Power Rangers Wild Force: While most of the Megazord fights have the monsters being of equal size to the Megazord being used, The Final Boss, Master Org, is so big the Megazord barely comes up to his chest.
- Shadow of the Colossus: Where most colossi range in size from being as big as wildcats to the size of buildings, Malus is a 195-foot monstrosity who dwarfs the "average" humanoid colossi. Even he loses out lengths-wise to Phalanx, a Giant Flyer who has a body longer than 500 feet and a wingspan of more than 200 feet.
- Super Robot Wars: This gets discussed frequently depending on the game and which series appear in it.
- In Z, this might have inspired a gameplay mechanic for Daitarn 3 where the Dai Fighter form has the "Lifter" ability which grants all units in the squad the ability to fly in the air. Presumably the allying machines ride on the Dai Fighter form given that the Daitarn 3 is 120m tall.
Webcomics
- Girl Genius: Jägermonsters are humans chemically modified into an army of Blood Knights who live for fighting (and hats). Most of them are noticeably taller than humans, but Jägergenerals are even bigger through age (though oddly enough they don't seem to use Large and in Charge, willingly taking orders from smaller people).
- The Order of the Stick: Inverted with Belkar, who is especially small for a Halfling, as while the average size for a Halfling is around four feet, Belkar mentions that he's only 3'2".
- Out-of-Placers: Baxxid are a huge (if peaceful and cerebral), serpentine species who loom over humans at rest and reach well over 15 feet from nose to tail. For unknown reasons, a rare few develop a "gorge-impulse", growing larger and longer to the point that they dwarf other baxxid and grow additional sets of limbs for locomotion.
Western Animation
- The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3: Prince Hugo the Huge is the Prince of Giant Land, who is mentioned by Big Mouth to be a giant even compared to other giants.
- Bugtime Adventures: Played with; the main characters, being insects, consider humans to be giants, and even call humans giants. "In A Giant Problem - The David Story", when the bugs see the biblical Goliath, they consider him an especially huge giant, with Dex calling him "the giantest giant I ever saw."
Real Life
- Although the size estimates of large animals are often treated as the maximum possible height, weight, or length every individual among the species is capable of reaching, in truth they better represent the known averages a species is capable of reaching and it isn't uncommon for a number of specimens to exceed those averages, sometimes by a sizeable margin. Such individuals often draw a lot of attention from both the scientific community and general populace, and even today there are a number of specimens among larger species being heavily tracked and monitored.
- Female great white sharks are the largest macropredatory extant sharks and typically average between 15-16 ft. in length at maturity, but Deep Blue is an exceptionally large female at an estimated 20 ft. long and two tons in weight, making her a contender for one of largest known great whites, and possibly one of the oldest at almost fifty years old. And better yet, she's still around.
