Rainbow Magic: Lucy the Diamond Fairy (Literature)

Lucy the Diamond Fairy is the 28th book in the mainline Rainbow Magic series, and the 7th in the Jewel Fairies subseries.

Lucy's diamond still must be found before Kirsty has to leave for Wetherbury.

Tropes:

  • Blow You Away: Jack Frost's magic creates icy winds, which prevent the girls from reaching the diamond.
  • Call-Back: The jewellery box from the end of the Party Fairies' series makes another appearance.
  • Flight: Lucy's diamond allows fairies to fly.
  • Lady of War: With the magic jewels restored, Queen Titania is the one to ultimately defeat Jack Frost, using a sparkle spell with her wand.
  • Pegasus: Because none of the fairies can fly, Lucy calls upon a friendly Pegasus to help them retrieve her diamond, which is floating in the sky.
  • Shout-Out: Lucy is named for The Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds". Her diamond is also found in the sky with the stars, as a nod to the famous nursery rhyme, "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star".
  • Unexpectedly Dark Episode: This book has a rare instance where Jack Frost's magic actually hurts the girls, as he freezes Kirsty's wings, making her fall out of the sky. Luckily, Rachel and Pegasus rescue her.
