- Mickey and Mitch performing "A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow" near the end, for the first time in years. What's especially touching is how the other characters gather round backstage to listen.
- And then, of course, all of the musicians together performing "A Mighty Wind". They might not necessarily like each other, but goddammit they can all be united by great music.
- The Mitch and Mickey song "The Ballad of Bobby and June" from the soundtrack. A classic-style lovers-separated-by-war song. However, unlike most songs of this style, Bobby does manage to get back home alive.
- There's something sweet about the unconditional love between Terry and Laurie Bohner of The New Mainstreet Players: in many movies, Terry would be cruelly made Butt-Monkey for his nerdy ways and somewhat clueless naivete and Laurie would be similarly made a Butt-Monkey for her bawdy past and brash personality, but throughout the film every time one of them talks the other watches with clear affection and respect. Despite their considerable differences, they are the only group with a problem-free relationship.
- It's also made clear that Terry still looks up to the Folksmen after all these years (and remains safely unaware of the contempt they feel for him).
- The awkward but whole-hearted acceptance the Folksmen have for one of their members when that person comes out as transgender.
- Mickey's husband never once shows any jealousy when Mickey and Mitch are together again regardless how famous their love had been back when they were married; he shows Mickey only trust and shows Mitch only respect (and confusion).
