• The Railway Series (1945-2011): The original book series that started it all. The series was originally written by Wilbert Awdry from 1945-to-1972 before retiring. The series would be relaunched in 1983 by Wilbert's son Christopher Awdry, who would write the series until 2011.

Live-Action Shows

• Shining Time Station (1989-1993): A live-action spin-off show created by Britt Allcroft to bring Thomas & Friends to North America.

Western Animation

• The Three Railway Engines (1953): Model-based live broadcast adapting two stories from the book of the same title. Lost media.invoked
• Thomas the Tank Engine (1976): Pilot for a proposed 2D animated series produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Lost media.invoked
• Thomas & Friends (1984-2021): The TV show created by Britt Allcroft.
  • Thomas & Friends in 4-D: Bubbling Boilers (2016): A special 3D Movie shown exclusively in 4-D cinemas.
• Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go (2021-2025): A 2D Denser and Wackier Continuity Reboot of the show.
• Thomas & Friends (2026): A Truer to the Text reboot of the original show.

Films

• Thomas and the Magic Railroad (2000): Currently the only theatrical film in the franchise. The film is notable for being a crossover between Thomas & Friends and Shining Time Station.^note  This film is owned by Samuel Goldwyn Films (formerly Sony Pictures). The show itself (owned by Mattel) refuses to acknowledge the film for this reason.

• In the 1950s, a soundscape audiobook adapting the first novel was released, read by Wilbert Awdry himself and featuring sound effects taken from real-life steam engines.
• In the 1970s, a series of audiobooks were released, narrated by British comedian Willie Rushton, which framed each story with sound effects taken from actual steam engines.
• Thomas & Friends Storytime (2020): A podcast that adapts episodes, and occasionally features original stories, into an audio-only format, narrated by Mark Moraghan.^note Was succedded by Rachael Miller when it was revamped to be centered around All Engines Go for its third season.
